Biography
John Embry served as the Chief Investment Strategist and Portfolio Manager at Sprott Asset Management, LP from 2003 to 2014, where he focused on precious metals investments. He joined Sprott Asset Management, LP in March 2003 and then moved to analyzing global macro issues. Mr. Embry played an instrumental role in the corporate and investment policy of the firm. Prior to that, he served as Vice President and Portfolio Manager of RBC Asset Management Inc. for 15 years. He began his investment career as a Stock Selection Analyst and Portfolio Manager at Great-West Lifeco Inc. Mr. Embry then became a Vice President of Pension Investments for the entire firm. After 23 years with the firm, he became a Partner at United Bond and Share, the investment counseling firm acquired by Royal Bank in 1987. Since then, he served as a Vice-President of Equities and Portfolio Manager at RBC Global Investment Management. He served as Co-Chairman of Central GoldTrust until April 29, 2010 and served as its Trustee since 2003 until April 29, 2010. He has been a Director of Sprott Resource Corp. since September 2007. He served as a Director of Sprott Resource Lending Corp. since August 17, 2010. He is an industry expert in precious metals, has researched the gold sector for over 40 years and has accumulated industry experience as a portfolio management specialist since 1963. Mr. Embry graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelors of Commerce degree.
