I second Gainesville. Good
I second Gainesville.
Good prices, fast delivery.
+1. They treated me well.
+1. They treated me well. Decent premiums.
Gainesville gets a big thumbs
Gainesville gets a big thumbs up here too. It's the only place I purchase anymore, save for my local coin shop.
Gainesville baby!!
NIAUS for 5 bucks off.
I use them for all my purchases. I used to use trustedbullion.com until they went to a min 100 oz purchase. IMO, Apmex rapes you on shipping and CC charges for many of us smaller quantity purchasers where Gainesville has been very reasonable.
First deal completed
The prices were great and the site was easy to use but it took several weeks for my goods to show despite showing "in stock". I would use them again though if my local guy was out.
Good point. They do take a
Good point.
They do take a while, but if you're not in any rush then it shouldn't matter much. They do tell you the time frame in which to wait for delivery which is nice and they DO stick to that pretty closely.
Gainesville
I live 30 miles from Gainesville and drive there frequently to drop off cash (up to $10,000) or pick up product from a previous purchase. I have been buying Maple Leafs for a couple of years and their markup has always been 3% or less. Add in the fact that I don't have to pay for shipping AND I can pay in cash, avoiding a CC charge (~3%) or wire fee, the argument to buy from them, for me at least, is compelling. The only issue I have is that I now have to wait for product (Maple Leafs are about a week) instead of walking in with the cash and out with the coins.
They have a very nice store, that impressed my wife a lot, who had visions of a pawn shop until she saw it.
Thanks for taking the time to
Thanks for taking the time to post these reviews. Their premiums over spot on ASE and AGE look pretty good.
I too give them a thumbs up,
I too give them a thumbs up, if you dont have a problem waiting a week for them to ship. I dont, and they've always been a day or two faster than what I expected. If you want overnight bullion go with tulving but otherwise Gainesville is the tits as far as online dealers. I still prefer my LCS though, have been tempted to check out their actual store as I drive down to Sarasota all the time and it would be a nice side-trip. They're also the only ones I can find selling MB's of Pandas, was gonna pick a 2011 MB up until I heard they were doubling the mintage again.

+1 I actually LOL'd
Second the concensus
I've been to the Gainesville Coins store in Tampa numerous times. The showroom is nicely decorated and the furniture is comfortable. There is always a deputy on duty and the staff has always been friendly. I understand the business is family owned.
It's not unusual for the showroom to be busy, but there are times when you can walk in and be the only customer. The last two visits were on Saturday afternoon around 1 pm. It was quiet both times, but I understand it's hit and miss finding a quiet time to visit.
There isn't much stock available in the showcases, ready for delivery. You'll be disappointed if you show up expecting to walk out with an order if you haven't placed an order and received notification it's ready for pickup.
The wait for an order for pickup is usually 2 days to 2 weeks depending on the order. They are sometimes out of a specific item for a short period, but usually not long.
They have been very accommodating and have held orders for me for several weeks while I've been out of town.
Gainesville coins gets 5 stars from me.
September Beat Down BTFD
I am looking at Gainseville right now. They have good prices on ASEs and 10 oz bars. Trying to decide if I should pull the trigger now or see what Sunday night and Monday morning bring.
I've got a chance to round out my stack a little AND pull my cost $avg down by about 45 cents if I go right now. Hate to do it and then see it hit $25 on Monday :(
Decisions, decisions...
I stopped at the store today
I stopped at the store today to order some Gold MLs. The delivery time is now up to 15 days. The person behind the counter said they were swamped with orders.
On the plus side, I saw in the counter at least 20 stacks of ASEs I could have just taken, but $4 over spot is way to rich for me.
bad deal
probly isolated deal but friend of mine just had very bad experience with a direct deposit buy(wire transfer)
called a bill collecter w/out even contacting him after they couldn't find his deposit which had been IN THEIR bank for a week
he is not happy.
resolution unkknown at this point.
more later
First time customer. I don't
First time customer. I don't know how many times I've had metal in my cart but never officially pulled the trigger.
Anyway, I caught the knife at $30 on Monday 26th and ordered when plenty was in stock.
Got all the confirmations and whatnot the day of and on Tues.
Nothing Wed.
Get the CS follow up call on Thursday saying they'd be shipped out "immediately."
And "immediately" the next day (today) on Friday I get the shipping confirmation with tracking.
I get it that they're busy as hell and have high volume. If it was any other time I'd be disappointed by the 4 day delay. I'd expect next day shipping at the least. Four days following is a joke in my book. Guess I'm just a hard ass this way.
Looks like
Gainsville is hip on the new 1 oz Dragons.........I see they are now in stock @ 70 bucks over spot.
Wow, what a joke. I thought I
Wow, what a joke.
I thought I was ordering two new, BU rolls of Sunshine Mint rounds, but apparently not. What I got was two used, dirty medallion coin safe containers with random writing on them containing 30/40 random year, mix mintage rounds that are either toned, damaged or otherwise "used." Only 4 out of 40 could be considered "new." And the shit about it was the return address on the box (which was poorly packaged) is from some plumbing supply company in FL.
Stay tuned, this ain't over...
Called and talked to some
Called and talked to some clueless sales dude who tried to convince me 1) toning doesn't decrease the actual value 2) that i should clean them if I wasn't happy 3) they're not at fault and the item description on the website is fine.
He did offer to replace any coin as long as I dropped $20 for back and forth shipping. F that.
I told him I was not satisfied, thought I was getting new coins, and that the item description on the website needs to be changed for complete accuracy and transparency. I asked for my money back; he said "unfortunately we can't do that." I told him lesson learned, I'll know better than to waste my time with Joe's Plumbing again.
Gainesville Coins: D-
Never again.
thanks for the feedback...are
thanks for the feedback...are standards slipping out there? I see a lot of shipping times "guaranteed" at 10 days after they get your money. Now that is bs. Here's a good one: I left a message at a supplier a week ago and they got back to me today. My call had "slipped through the cracks" was what the guy said. Wow. Just wow.
baddd
my buddy STILL has no gold.....32 days....no apology from putting a bill collecter on his ass ....even tho they have 10ger of his....f-you attitudes on the phone.
i'm serious, these guys suck.
