How about a "poll" section

under forums, perhaps where polls can be taken and a display of who / what was posted for contests.

i.e poll (contest) question

"What will the price of gold be on....."?

a submit guess field,

and a "view guesses" page accessible only upon entering the user's guesstimate.

This way the there can be a result of the community's thoughts on the q posted.

It should have a note poll question submitted by..... and if, for example, it's a Turd contest, that could be stated within the question / comment i.e. What will.... ...The prize to the closest answer is...".

This could free up the daily comments submitted when someone or Turd runs a contest.

Acronyms

IF enough Turd Feed is forthcoming... in the future, please:

Implement an 'AutoComplete' function for all acronyms resident in Turdisms, so that, for example, if EE was typed into a Comment section it would show as 'Evil Empire', and so on.

This would be very helpful, both for newbies and old memory-challenged codgers alike.

It also may help to disabuse readers of the notion that elite, cliquey or ex-military types are employing 'code' to talk over them.

Just a thought. I'm slightly annoyed at the over-use of acronyms, and the resulting fuzzification, obfuscation, etc.

Bug on Charts page

Hi Webmaster and/or Moderators:

The live feed "Real Time Market Prices" at the top of the Charts page appears to need to be updated.  It is giving wrong prices for gold, silver and others.  Prolly a misdirected link that needs to be updated.  Thanks and please keep up the good work!

I believe the service that provides the data just went down for a while.  It seems to be working again.

I deleted my location also.

It would really be a help to know what is and isn't visible to the public.  Was my location visible?  Is my name visible?

Please make it plain, and easy to change.

How do I delete uploaded pictures once posted?

I scanned the forum, found no reference. I can't upload a picture as I can't delete a file to make room.

Is there a simple way? The "help" button had no shortcut explained.

JackPutter, it says the following right at the top of the registration page: "Items marked with an asterisk are required. All other items are optional. Please note: Location and other information entered will be publicly available on your profile and posts."

Anything that you put on your profile with the exception of your email address and password is visible by all site members.  Also it is very easy to change or remove information. Just click the "My account" link on the top bar when logged in, click the "Edit" tab, and modify all the information.

Yes this is easy to do.  When you create your link, do the following:

  1. Highlight the text you want to turn into a link
  2. Click the "Link" icon in the toolbar (icon is a chain link in front of a globe)
  3. Add your URL in the URL field on the "Link Info" tab
  4. Click the "Target" tab and select "New Window (_blank)" as your option
  5. Select the "OK" button when done.

This has been discussed mutiple times in the Site Feedback and Comments forum.  We do not allow uploaded pictures to be deleted, otherwise the image will be removed from its original post. At some point in the future we may increase the size of file storage for each site member, but we do not have any definitive plans for this.

If you want to add new pictues you should post them on a third-party image sharing site like Photobucket or Flickr, then link to them from TF Metals Report.

I'm not quite sure I understand.  A Private Message is the equivalent of an internal e-mail. Once the message is sent, there is no editing... it is in the other person's inbox.

OK

No worries. I wasn't sure if it was possible. But since you verified it was like an internal email I understand. No biggie.

Page buttons

Hope this hasn't been posted already.  I looked for it, but didn't see it.

#1  It would be nice to have the "page" buttons directly underneath the newest topic, so you can easily navigate to the last page of comments instead of having to scroll all the way to the bottom of the first comments page (which I've already read) to do this.

At home this is merely an inconvenience, but when I'm on my mobile which can be quite slow, I have to wait for the entire page to load, flick my way to the bottom, and then hit the "last" button.  It doesn't seem like much, but if the page buttons were directly underneath the newest post, then I could stop the page from loading once these buttons appeared, and navigate from there.

#2.  If you could set it up so that embedded links within member comments/posts are set to always open in a new window, that would be great.  I notice whenever Mr. Turd posts in the comments, that is how his open.

I have your site in one window with multiple tabs.  Several times I've closed links, but have forgotten to right clk and open in new window beforehand, and I close the entire window.  Doh!!!  I have a "session manager" to rebuild this window, but it closes everything else as well to re-load, and then I lose work I set up in NetDania as the day unfolds.

Wahh wahh wahh.  I know, but you wanted suggestions.  Those are mine.  I'm not a programmer, and have no idea what it takes to get these things done, so apologies for that.

This site -->  http://www.capitalstool.com/forums/index.php?act=idx is an excellent example.  If you poke around, you'll also notice how embedded pictures are reduced on the initial page load, but clickable to enlarge if wanted.  This may cut down on server load.

The content here is impecable, and MANY THANKS TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTE just the same.   Hope this helps.

Could you offer a reason?

The page buttons are somewhat solved with the "new comments" button.  Still, if I move to a handheld device which doesn't have the tracking cookie for my last viewed, I need to scroll all the way down to navigate to my last viewed page.  Meh, c'est la vie.

I am quite curious though, why it's preferrable to have embedded links open within the same page.  If you could offer a reason for this, I'd be appreciative.

Again, thanks for all you do.

Answered the question about the page buttons here: https://www.tfmetalsreport.com/forum/2940/minor-focus-issue-main-article-thread

Regarding the embedded links opening within the same page -- there's no particular reason for one way or the other.  Some people prefer sites to stay within the same browser window, while others prefer a new window to be launched.

By default, links always open in the same window.  Additional code would need to be written to launch a new window.  Relative to everything else we have to do, this hasn't been a high enough priority, especially when people can recreate the same functionality by right clicking links.  Obviously if using a handheld device, this is not nearly as easy.

If you feel it's a priority that we should do sooner rather than later, certainly feel free to send a donation to Turd and let him know you'd like the funds to go toward implementing it.  Thanks.

Tapatalk or Forum Runner Support???

For the site Webmaster

I would like to see support added for the Tapatalk and/or Forum Runner apps to enhance the viewing on phones. Both apps which are available for iPhones/iPads and Androids, greatly improve the forum browsing experience on phones.

Sorry if this has been already requested.
