In this time of growing concern regarding the Chinese coronavirus outbreak, it's difficult to discern facts from fear. Fortunately, our friend Chris Martenson stopped by this morning to record this extremely informative and helpful podcast.

You've likely known of Chris for years now as he runs a terrific website called PEAK PROSPERITY. He has long been an ally in educating and warning people of the dangers within the global financial system but today Chris offers his expertise for a more pressing danger...the risk of a global pandemic due to the coronavirus sweeping China.

Chris holds a PhD in pathology from Duke University where he specialized in neurotoxicology. So if anyone is qualified to educate and warn the masses in this regard, it's him. Over the course of this call, I ask Chris to address three, primary topics:

  • How is this current virus different from recent outbreaks of SARS, H1N1 and others?
  • At what point should the average person begin to grow concerned?
  • What are prudent steps to take today in case this situation worsens?

I wanted to keep this discussion as brief as possible so that it wouldn't require you to spend too much time listening. If you want to learn more, Chris will be posting regular updates to his site in the days ahead so be sure to check there often. He posted this public link last Thursday and, if you haven't yet read it, you should do so now: https://www.peakprosperity.com/coronavirus/

He also posted this new article earlier today: https://www.peakprosperity.com/how-contagious-is-the-coronavirus/

And this video was created and posted yesterday (Friday):

Many thanks to Chris for sharing some of his extremely valuable time with us today. Please be certain to listen to this podcast and then forward the link to anyone you know who is concerned and confused by these current events. I'm confident that you...and everyone to whom you forward this podcast...will benefit from listening.

Coronavirus

I work at a hotel and we have on average 900-1000 guests everyday of the year. And the only way to get here is by air so I have higher exposure risk than most people. To be honest I am a little freaked out about this. If anything I will be the one that brings this home to my family if it ever gets to that point.

Wasn't it just over a week ago they were protesting to kick Iran out of Iraq ? Or so we were told. Can't these people make up their minds ?

US arranging charter flight to evacuate American diplomats and citizens out of China amid coronavirus outbreak, official says.

Here's comes a freaking plane load of potential hosts capable of spreading the virus.

Home treatment

The link to Chris's latest post https://www.peakprosperity.com/how-contagious-is-the-coronavirus/ has an excellent footnote on home treatment from a member with several years of ER experience.

In particular a pulse oximeter is recommended. If your oxygen saturation level is OK, you aren't dying of pneumonia and home treatment might well be better than an overwhelmed ER/hospital.

@Bringing coronavirus to the US.....

I'd expect them to undergo timely quarantine, before entering US.

Ed Steer COT analysis on Pd

In the other metals, the Manged Money traders in palladium decreased their net long position by a chunky 1,463 COMEX contracts during the reporting week — and are now net long the palladium market by ‘only’ 10,170 contracts…a bit over 38 percent of the total open interest…down from 44 percent last week. Total open interest in palladium is 26,596 COMEX contracts. As I keep harping on, it’s a very tiny and very illiquid market. It doesn’t take many contracts to move the price by a significant amount, as you may have noticed this past week. I was expecting to see some rather substantial changes in this week’s COT Report for palladium — and I wasn’t disappointed.
