Thursday (Friday) Conversation - Dave Collum

A look back at 2018 and a look ahead into 2019.

52

It's with great pleasure that we introduce a new guest to TFMR, Dr. Dave Collum of Cornell University. Though Dave is professor of organic chemistry by day, he's also a terrific analyst and commentator regarding the global financial system. His annual "Year In Review" column is always a must read and thus it was a treat to make his acquaintance through this podcast.

If you missed Dave's most recent "Year In Review", you can review it now though this link: https://www.peakprosperity.com/blog/114635/2018-year-review We must warn you, though...It's lengthy and detailed so don't just rush through it. Carve out some time and give it your undivided attention. You won't be disappointed.

For this podcast, Dave and I primarily discussed three topics:

  • Dave's background and how/why he got interested in global monetary issues.
  • What were the two or three most important events of 2018?
  • Looking ahead, what will Year In Review 2019 look like?

I think you're going to really enjoy this podcast. Thanks again to Dave for being so generous with his time and I look forward to keeping in tough through the months ahead.

Yellow Vests Glitches

The Yellow Vests need to cause a few glitches of their own. The real physical assets that the government functionaries rely on come from the people. As a Frenchman Étienne de la Boétie wrote 500 years ago in ‘The Politics of Obedience: The Discourse of Voluntary Servitude” -

“Resolve to serve no more, and you are at once freed. I do not ask that you place hands on the tyrant to topple him over, but simply that you support him no longer; then you will behold him, like a great Colossus, whose pedestal has been pulled away, fall of his own weight and break in pieces.”

The tyrant welcomes violence. It’s used as an excuse for clamp down and further tyranny. But they are absolutely afraid as Hell of the kinds of response suggested by this genius Frenchman from a half a millennium ago. It’s leaderless and there is no defense against it.

O.K., when have we seen a POTUS open a meeting with prayer?

We have had lots of witchcraft and even allah being presented to the nation and its leaders. Could we imagine Mr. Obama calling for a prayer "in Jesus's Name"? Now, if we could get the divided steeple houses to also open this way:

Rams not Chargers

There is a BIG difference

I say the Chiefs show the Patsies a thing or two....

IF the Rams play the Saints that will be a game

I say Rams / Chiefs in the Superbowl and the winner is..............I don't know but hope its a good game just like the 54 / 51 Monday nite game.

30 Democrats Party in Puerto Rico During Government Shutdown

https://bigleaguepolitics.com/30-democrats-party-in-puerto-rico-during-g...

At least 30 Democrats from the House and Senate are said to be kicking back on the island in a trip sponsored by lobbyists from companies like Facebook, Amazon, Comcast and Verizon. They’ll have a chance to view a showing of the hit musical Hamilton, and get acquainted with the show’s cast.

Re: Fascism

Yes, as Gerald Celente has said many times -

Fascism is what we must deal with now

K A Fitts explains to Greg Hunter. This is what we become when there is no accountability with our government and financial overlords. Or does the US populous have the courage to confront this head on?

The PMs, Just like the LA Rams, being physical gets it done

David Jensen: Well, I think if you take a long view and look at metals, they've risen from 250 U.S. dollars an ounce gold in the year 2000 to the $1,300 level now. And I know that is lower than the $1,900 dollars we saw (seven) years ago. But I do think that they have performed somewhat, even though the performance has been muted even with the trading of these unallocated contracts. But I do see a year ahead of us here due to the leverage in the markets, due to the really chronic underproduction, over consumption of the precious metals due to the mal-pricing by the bullion banks. We're now at the point, now, where it's very difficult to hide these problems, Mike. So, I really see this year here as being a hinge point, an inflection point for these markets. And I think that we're going to see the physical market start to really assert itself."
