For Auld Lang Jackass

One year ends and a new one begins. That means it's time to take stock of where we've been and where we're going and few are better at pointing the way than The Golden Jackass.

For this call, I asked Jim to primarily focus his comments on three, specific areas of interest for 2017:

  1. The global bond market, QE and interest rates
  2. The Italian and Eurozone banking sector
  3. The Trump Administration versus The Established Elites

As usual, I think you'll find this entertaining and very informative. Enjoy the show and be sure to have a safe and relaxing New Year's weekend.

Ok, I got that feeling again.

You know. When you finalized your strategy, ready to execute, have those trading emotions return. Realized I haven't felt like this in 6 years (2 years after actually stopped trading, took a while to detox). Do I really think all hell is breaking lose after New Years? Has not occurred to this moment (mkt still open).

What if Trump told the big boys he knows he must work with them. Hold it steady for most Americans (sorry traders). Get me in the Big Office and work on 5 scenarios, tactics, that will work for my strategy of America back to work( you know, maybe infrastructure employment draft for Free Shit Army, hard currency with some paper representation you boys manage). Give you 6 months to structure our new world, he, he. You want good things for your grandchildren? Get to work!

So00, still in cash waiting for the new year(except for jc's investment advice dabbling in btc). Did not like that Trading Feeling!

Now to listen to the Jackass (very respectfully, I might add).

GATA plans important disclosure Saturday

Submitted by cpowell on Fri, 2016-12-30 15:15. Section: Daily Dispatches

10:16a ET Friday, December 30, 2016

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

On Saturday GATA expects to make an important disclosure about central bank gold reserves and the gold market.

CHRIS POWELL, Secretary/Treasurer
Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee Inc.

Dec 30, 2016 - 4:31pm

GATA "expects"?

Are they saying that they might not?

Last 10 min of US trade for 2016

Summed up how the USDJPY can just catch a bid with no catalyst in the last 10 min to spike everything higher or lower to paint the charts. Cartel management in 2016 now closed expecting more of the same in 2017-perhaps just more blatant. Happy New Year! Keep Stacking.

HUI wrap up: hit a wall today at 195, but is +59% in 2016!

The trading year is over, and the HUI finishes up 59% in 2016! Not too shabby. Newmont was one of the top performers of 2016 in the S&P 500.

Here is the last weekly chart:

The 195 level acted as support in the first 2 weeks of October, but the HUI broke below it the first week of November. The HUI rose at the NYSE opening and hit 194.75 early today, but it was downhill after that. 195 looks like the new resistance level.

The 50 day moving average is currently 189. The HUI closed the week today at 182.

For what it is worth, I bought back the covered calls today that I sold yesterday for a profit. I feared getting called away next week. I'm hopeful that the HUI will blast up through 195 early in 2017. I hope we have a start to 2017 like we had in 2016.

Disclaimer: My track record is horrendous. I don't always think clearly to temper my permanent bullishness.

Murph, no that was not me but I do have a story...

Just recently a fellow and his dog were out cross country skiing in a reasonably remote area close by me when a wolf came out of the bush and killed his dog. The wolf turned on the skier but then thought the better of that I guess and hauled the dog away. This is quite the unusual case around here but there are a lot of wolves now and they'll take what they can get. Now when I am out with my dog (very remote) I am always watching my six (and the dogs).

I don't know what I'd do if my dog got attacked. I don't carry a weapon and my thought process is that if I got into the tangle with them both I might end up the loser in the deal. It would be a spur of the moment decision but instincts, and love of dog, would likely drive me into the fracas. Until we find ourselves confronted with these situations, we just don't know how we'd react.

And on a personal note, being an ex-paramedic, PLEASE PLEASE everyone be safe this weekend and don't drink and drive...this only brings suffering, for self and others.
