Ukraine Update from Batchelor and Cohen

Sorry for the delay in getting this posted today. Apparently some issues at my podcast server company. But all is well now and I urge you to carve out some time today to listen to this very important update from JB and Professor Cohen.

Some of the major points covered:

  • The threat poised by the deployment of US Patriot missile systems in Poland and elsewhere
  • The push by NATO to include cyberattacks as "attacks vs all", worthy of NATO response
  • The ongoing US troop buildup in the Baltic states as well as Poland AND Ukraine
  • The training being performed by these troops for what are clearly neo-nazi and fascist elements in Ukraine
  • Recent inflammatory statements by US generals Hodges and Breedlove
  • The recent spate of NINE political assassination within Ukraine

This situation should gravely concern you as any restart of hostilities will very likely lead to an immediate and widening conflict between US/NATO and Russia. DO NOT IGNORE THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS.

Cohen's Blindspot ?

I appreciate Prof Cohen's commentary on the Ukraine situation & make sure to listen to every interview. I wonder if he has a blindspot, however. He talks about the craziness of the 'war party' and their steps toward a potential nuclear WW3. But, he doesn't examine the deterioration of the fiat bankster financial system as the possible motivation behind these actions. So, its all a mysterious 'madness' to him. (Like historians who thought the same regarding WW1 and didnt look into the similar degradation of the British empire before that war ? They said it was a 'mistake' that was the result of all kinds of entangling alliances. )

Cohen said that he voted for Obama twice. Maybe there was some excuse for the first time, but not the second. (I see no difference between any of the demorepublicrap candidates, however.) Someone said that few economists know history, and few historians know economics.

If you play "Back in the USSR"

from the Beatles White Album backwards, there is an odd, but distinct voice, saying, "Ukraine, Schmukraine, what happened to the good ol' days of Stalin?".

I think it was Lenin, er, Lennon, telling us that not only is Paul dead, but those guys in the Ukraine that will cause all the "unpleasantness" in 2015 are just pikers compared to ol' Smokin' Joe Stalin.

Orlov : A Kiev Funeral

Yesterday I was at a funeral. The crowd was well over 500, much more than I originally thought would be possible. It was a deeply emotional event. The man to whom everyone bid farewell was Oles' Buzina, a writer, historian, free thinker, wacky conversationalist, warm friend, a man who identified deeply with both the complex yet incomplete Ukrainian culture and with the multifaceted entity of eastern Slavic Orthodox Russian civilization, a man who would not take sides easily, and would adhere to his lone stand even when death threats started to arrive at his doorstep on a weekly basis.

The event was all over the Russian language news. But there was precisely zero coverage of it in the English-language news. He was murdered at 1:25, Thursday, April 16. There were two masked men waiting for him in front of his house. Five shots were fired, and that was that. It was the third such hit in a span of four days.
