TFMR Podcast - Friday, January 30

Right on cue, gold rebounded today and recovered most of the contract expiration losses of yesterday. Now, with another volatile week ahead, can it crawl back toward $1300 and, if it does, what will happen with silver?

As we wrap up the week and the month (a month which saw gold +8% while the S&P was -3%), just a discussion of these charts:

the HUI and the S&P

And this crazy chart of 10-year German and Japanese bond yields

Regarding the totally insane global interest rate picture, please print off and read this remarkable story from Zerohedge. Then take the printed copy and add it to your Stack For Posterity.

And finally, here's a fun article from SRSrocco covering many of the topics we regularly discuss here in Turdville:

Have a great weekend!

Since it's open forum day, I

Since it's open forum day, I have a couple of things. First off I want to clarify the record on an earlier post. I would not like to see Sarah Palin as a candidate for president. But at the same time, I just can't resist an opportunity to watch the opposition turn cartwheels when ever her name is mentioned.

Second: I have an article I would like to see more people read. Or at the least scan it and read a few paragraphs here and there. This was posted on the Internet back when the man currently living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue was in the process of applying for residency there. At the time I printed it out and read it and then filed it away. Then this last week I ran across it and read it again. I could hardly believe how accurately the author had predicted how that man would act if elected. It is absolutely uncanny. If I didn't know better I'd think it was written last week. I believe people owe it to themselves to at the least take a look at it. I fully realize some will not like it, but even then, the accuracy cannot be denied. And I have no desire to debate it here with anyone.

Superbowl Sunday

How 'bout pre game celebration by viewing "The Tillman Story" - It is a great documentary....honor his life and death - watch it. It will leave all with a deep sadness. (excluding the 4% that are sociopaths) The feeling you get when the emotion is knocked out of you like air. And you will question all "official reports" forever as nothing more than well scripted propaganda. But he gave his life. You should give at least 90 minutes of your time. I loved the way he played football. I miss him. I resent TPTB that suckered him into a mindless, pointless death. hit 'em like Pat would!

Re: almost right

There's absolutely no excuse for that happening. None. Zero. Zed. Nil. Naught. Before you construct an apartment building like that you do soil testing to show if the soil will bear the weight you're going to put on it. If you have unsuitable soil near the surface you either remove it down to suitable soil and pour a deep foundation or put the whole thing on piles. It's not the type of engineering I do but it's impossible to fuck that up so badly. They either didn't do soil tests or they ignored the results of them.

Nomi Prins interview with Chris Martenson

Really good interview where Prins talks about banking history and how we got to the criminal banking system we have today.

One of the best pm's talk I have heard in a while

Sorry if this was posted but I do not think it has been.

Chris Powell of GATA is one sharp guy for sure.

This is one of the best talks about gold , the big reset, who is suppressing pm's, etc.

About 10 days old but well worth the time of a tad over 40 min.

Chris Powell & Chris Waltzek-Jan 20, 2014

EDIT: Also Jim Rogers, Chris Martenson, Steve Forbes and several other good talks as well

Myth of European austerity

Myth of European austerity

From the graph in the article it appears that the eastern Europeans are doing a better job of controlling spending than western Europeans. Maybe because they have less access to cheap debt which keeps them from borrowing and spending?

I will never understand how people think that spending more than they take in and incur debt to make up the difference is a good idea.

David Stockman/ Tom Friedman

Friedman also writes for the "Weekly Standard", aka the PNAC or Neocon Weekly.

Bill Krystol started and runs Weekly Standard. He is the current GodFather of the Neocons. Loves to get on Foxnews and mesmerize the populace with how we should kill all the arabs....The entire movement was created by his Father, Irving. Kristol and his followers are ALL OVER PNAC. ...."need a new pearl harbor" guys....

Once you realize this, the whole thing makes you want to take a shower. The most disgusting part about the Neocons is their eagerness to go to war, maim or kill your kid, and their demographic participation in the US military is under represented by 400%. Muslims are better represented. This is fact.

Kristol clear:

You should at least know who it is that is writing the stuff you read. It is gross propaganda, not in the interest of the United States....(why don't you think their kids serve?)

A million draft dodgers in context

in the 60's and 70's, the US made a big deal about its draft dodgers....all 125k of them....and the Ukraine has over a million? wake up folks. If those folks, who ARE there, aren't willing to fight, what the heck is Vicky doing there, PNAC script in hand, pulling us in there?
