Summer Ends, Jackass Appears

In a continuance of our "holiday tradition", Jim Willie stopped by Turdville yesterday to share his thoughts on current events and where he thinks this all headed.

The Jackass was his usual self, even if a bit under the weather. In this podcast, we discuss:

  • Yesterday's announcement by Gazprom that they will begin accepting payment in rubles and yuan
  • The escalation of US and EU sanctions against Russia and how they are failing/backfiring
  • The growing isolation of the US as a economic superpower
  • The eventual emergence of a new global currency regime

This baby clocks in at slightly over 60 minutes so please try to pace yourself. You don't want to overdo it.

How to Lose a

How to Lose a Constitution—Lessons from Roman History

Rome was founded in revolt against autocracy, but lost its liberty when its character faltered. America has plenty to learn from its example

“The Three Most Stubborn Lessons of History,” and then I’ll go back and briefly relate each to the Roman Republic:

Number One: No people who lost their character kept their liberties.

Number Two: Power that is shackled and dispersed is preferable to power that is unrestrained and centralized.

Number Three: The here-and-now is rarely as important as tomorrow.

Bad character leads to bad policy and bad economics, which is bad for liberty. Without character, a free society is not just unlikely, it’s impossible.

I will close by asking, and then answering, an important question. To avoid the fate of the dead-and-buried Roman Republic, what does America need today?

America needs more men and women who do not have a price at which they can be bought; who do not borrow from integrity to pay for expediency; who have their priorities straight and in proper order; whose handshake is an ironclad contract; who are not afraid of taking risks to advance what is right; who are honest in matters both large and small; who treat the rights and property of others as they expect others should regard theirs.

America needs more men and women whose ambitions are big enough to include others; who know how to win with grace and lose with dignity; who do not believe that shrewdness and cunning and ruthlessness are the three keys to success; who still have friends they made twenty years ago; who put principle and consistency above politics or personal advancement; and who are not afraid to go against the grain of popular opinion, who regard their own self-reliance and responsibility as infinitely more sacred than a handout from the government.

America needs more men and women who do not forsake what is right just to get consensus because it makes them look good; who know how important it is to lead by example, not by barking orders; who would not have you do something they would not do themselves; who work to turn even the most adverse circumstances into opportunities to learn and improve; who truly love liberty and are eager to give more than lip service to it; and who love even those who have done some injustice or unfairness to them.

America in other words, needs more men and women of character.

ISIS: A Short HistoryThe

ISIS: A Short History

The terrorist group's evolution from fervid fantasy to death cult

An ISIS fighter in Mosul (Stringer/Reuters)

Here's How The World's Richest Terrorist Group Makes Millions Every Day

ISIS is now the wealthiest terrorist organization on the planet, according to Foreign Policy. And the Al Qaeda offshoot has the ambition and perhaps even the organization needed to put its piles of oil and smuggling-related profits to work, as its several-hundred page-long annual report from this past March demonstrates.

For example, ISIS brings in nearly million a month in revenues from extortion and other shady practices in the Iraqi city of Mosul alone in addition to million to million a day selling oil illegally.

Feds deny ISIS in Mexico planning attacks on US

via Feds DENY claim that ISIS is in Mexico and plans bombing attacks in US | Mail Online.

The Department of Homeland Security quickly denied claims on Friday from a watchdog group that the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) has militants stationed in Juarez, Mexico who plan an ‘imminent’ attack against the United States.

A DHS spokesman was bewildered, telling MailOnline that ‘we are aware of absolutely nothing credible to substantiate this claim’ made by Judicial Watch, a center-right group.

‘In Mexico?’ the official said on the phone. ‘I haven’t seen that at all.’

An hour before Judicial Watch’s report surfaced, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said publicly that his agency and the FBI ‘are unaware of any specific, credible threat to the U.S. homeland’ from the terror network.

This Is How ISIS Is Building An Airforce

The Islamic State is nothing if not ambitious. Despite no record of current 'airplane' assets in their annual reports, ISIS has begun detaining and forcing Syrian pilots to train militant fighters to fly stolen aircraft. According to CNN Arabic, the pilots (and their planes and helicopters) were abducted when the terrorist group gained control of Tabqa military base. It appears that if beheadings, executions, and whippings are not enough to strike fear into the hearts of the locals, then (just as America is tryiung to do), an air assault will greatly demoralize. We can only imagine how this changes Obama's strategy (and just where are all the rest of Syria and Iraq's airplanes stored?)

ISIS - Who Are They & What Do They Want?

Lets see who the ISIS are Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant - Wikipedia

ISIS is the successor to Tanzim Qaidat al-Jihad fi Bilad al-Rafidayn—more commonly known as al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI)—formed byAbu Musab Al Zarqawi in 2004, which took part in the Iraqi insurgency against American-led forces and their Iraqi allies following the2003 invasion of Iraq.[65][70] During the 2003–2011 Iraq War it combined with other Sunni insurgent groups to form the Mujahideen Shura Council and consolidated further into the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI /ˈsɪ/).[70][71] At its height it enjoyed a significant presence in the Iraqi governorates of Al Anbar, Nineveh, Kirkuk, most of Salah ad Din, parts of Babil, Diyala and Baghdad, and claimed Baqubah as a capital city.[72][73][74][75] However, the Islamic State of Iraq's violent attempts to govern its territory led to a backlash from Sunni Iraqis and other insurgent groups, which helped to propel the Awakening movement and a decline in the group.[70][76]

ISIS had close links to al-Qaeda until February 2014, when after an eight-month power struggle, al-Qaeda cut all ties with the group, reportedly for its brutality and "notorious intractability".[77][78][79]

Under its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, ISIS has grown significantly, gaining support in Iraq due to alleged economic and political discrimination against Arab Iraqi Sunnis, and establishing a large presence in the Syrian governorates of Ar-Raqqah, Idlib, Deir ez-Zorand Aleppo after entering the Syrian Civil War.[80][81][82]

In June 2014, ISIS had at least 4,000 fighters in its ranks in Iraq[83] who, in addition to attacks on government and military targets, have claimed responsibility for attacks that have killed thousands of civilians.[84] In August 2014, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rightsclaimed that the group had increased its strength to 50,000 fighters in Syria and 30,000 in Iraq.[18]

ISIS’s original aim was to establish a caliphate in the Sunni-majority regions of Iraq. Following its involvement in the Syrian Civil War, this expanded to include controlling Sunni-majority areas of Syria.[85] A caliphate was proclaimed on 29 June 2014, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi—now known as Amir al-Mu'minin Caliph Ibrahim—was named as its caliph, and the group was renamed the Islamic State.[5][6][7]

Ok what about some history on these guys?

Islamic State of Iraq and ash Sham / Islamic State (Islamic State of Iraq, ISIS or ISIL, IS)

The ISIS was preceded by the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI), that was established during October 2006, and comprised of various insurgent groups, most significantly the original Al Qaeda Organization in the Land of the Two Rivers (AQI) organization, al-Qaeda in Mesopotami - led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the Mujahedeen Shura Council in Iraq, and Jund al-Sahhaba (Soldiers of the Prophet’s Companions), which was integrated into the ISI. ISIS members' allegiance was given to the ISI commander and not al-Qaeda central command. The organisation known as the ISIS was formed during April 2013 and has evolved in one of the main jihadist groups fighting government forces in Syria and Iraq. ISIS regards Baquba, Iraq, as its headquarters with its allegiance to Abu Omar al-Baghdadi as the group’s emir. Baghdadi’s real name is Hamed Dawood Mohammed Khalil al-Zawi.

The ISIS's objective is the establishment of a world wide Caliphate, reflected in frequent media reports by means of images of the world united under a ISIS banner. Although it has perpetrated many terrorist acts since its formation in 2006, especially against Shia and Christian civilians, ISI/ISIS/ISIL has been especially active in late 2102 and 2013, claiming responsibility for killing and wounding hundreds of people through suicide bombings. It's principal targets are U.S. military and Shia and Christian civilians.

The ISIS is composed of 16 wilayats (read provinces/administrative districts), in both Iraq and Syria and is reflected in the following map:

The ISIS stronghold is in the Anbar province, as seen in the operation of training camps coupled with attacks on Government security personnel, a case in point being various suicide bomb attacks in a single day targeting local police in Rawa. In addition, the ISIS gained control in areas of Ramadi and Fallujah, following the withdrawal of the Iraqi army due to widespread Sunni rejection of attempts to dismantle the Ramadi camp protest site. Their presence in these areas were also seen in Anbar with mortar attacks at the Sahwa leader Abu Risha’s estate and fighting with security forces in various Anbar urban locations, such as the al-Mal’ab quarter in Ramadi and the al-Khaldiya area near Fallujah.

Beyond Anbar, the group has enacted frequent attacks on the Iraqi army in various districts of Mosul as well as target specific bomb attacks in the Baiji area of Salah ad-Din province, Jurf al-Sakhr in northern Babil province (just south of Baghdad), and the Tarmiya area of northern Baghdad province, where assaults have been launched on “Sahwa” forces, resulting in incidents such as the execution of 18 Sunnis suspected of being “Sahwa militia” during November 2013.

During 2013, ISIS operations expanded to Iraqi Kurdistan, as seen in the Arbil bombings in September 2013, that the ISIS referred to as retaliation due to the Kurdistan Regional Government’s alleged support for the “PKK” in Syria.

The following photos are reportedly that of an ISIS camp in the Nanawa province:

In April 2013, ISIS attempted to morph into the creation of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS/ISIL) but the formation of a new group was rejected by the al-Nusra Front. ISIS's leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, known as Abu Dua, nevertheless pressed ahead with expanding its operations into Syria. In August 2013, US intelligence assessed that he was based in Syria and commanded as many 5,000 fighters, many of them foreign jihadists. The group is active mostly in northern and eastern provinces of Syria. It has assumed joint control of municipalities in Aleppo, Idlib and Raqqa provinces. In November 2013 Al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri ordered the disbanding of the main jihadist faction in Syria, the ISIL, in an audio message aired on Al-Jazeera. The tape appeared to confirm a letter posted by Al-Jazeera in June 2013, claimed to have been written by Zawahiri and addressed to the leaders of Al-Qaeda factions in both countries. The head of Al-Qaeda also stressed that the Al-Nusra Front was the branch of the global jihadist group in Syria. ISIL's extremism has resulted in the deaths of more than 1,000 rebels in the last 3-4 weeks alone.

The ISIS reach into Lebanon is seen in the following most recent developments:

On 3 January 2014, a leader in the Jordanian Salafi movement said the ISIS has decided officially to infiltrate Lebanon militarily, by stating that “the leader of al-Nusra Front Abu Muhammad al-Goulani and the prince of “ISIL” Abu Baker al-Baghdadi have decided to enter Lebanon militarily”.

The ISIS claimed credit for the suicide bombing Haret Hreik in the southern suburb of Beirut on 22 January 2014, which killed 5 people. In the statement released via Twitter, the ISIS stated that the group has the capacity to violate Hezbollah security measures and that the suicide bombing is "a first small payment from the heavy account that is awaiting those criminals."

The above announcement was followed by the Lebanon-focused A'isha Media Center announcement of an online campaign to support the ISIS in the conflict with Syrian militant factions.

On 25 January 2013 a video recording declared the creation of a Lebanese division for the ISIS. In the recording, Abu Sayyaf al-Ansari (further details unknown) swears allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the Iraqi leader of ISIS. He also called on Sunnis to abandon the Lebanese crusader" army, supportive of continued allegations by Sunni Islamists that the armed forces are "backed by Hezbollah." The recording surfaced amid escalating tensions in Lebanon linked to the war in neighbouring Syria. While the Lebanon's Shiite Hezbollah has deployed troops to Syria to back President Bashar al-Assad, many Sunnis are opposed to Assad and any support to his government. In the five-minute recording (refer to Video section of this profile), al-Ansari indicated that "a spokesman for ISIS in Lebanon" identified as Abu Omar al-Muhajir would soon make a statement of his own.

Video unavailable

During February 2014, the ISIS released a video that showed ISIS fighters announcing plans to wage a jihad in Gaza. A spokesperson in the video announced that DAESH (ISIS) now has "lions and armies in the environs of Jerusalem" and called on Muslims to support the group in their jihad against the enemies of Islam and "Arab tyrants." The ISIS regards Hamas as to moderate and not committed in the fight against Israel. The ISIS announcement is the first indication of presence within Gaza Strip/West Bank as well as a direct challenge to the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas. The extent of support for the ISIS from Gaza culminated in the formation of an ISIS Syrian brigade comprised and dedicated to fighters from Gaza, referred to as the “Sheikh Abu al-Nur al-Maqdisi Brigade,” named after the founder of the Jund Ansar Allah group in Gaza- Abdel Latif Moussa, who was killed in clashes with Hamas in 2009.

The Real End Game

It seems to me that if everything the Jim Willie tells us is even only 80% accurate, then the current 'stalemate' (for want of a better euphemism) in the gold and silver markets cannot last much longer.

Personally, I don't buy Jim's thesis that Russia and China, as leaders of the 'BRICS(A)' nations are not ready to launch their alternative gold-backed international trade and financial system. To my mind, having given a lot of thought to this, they HAVE to act sooner rather than later or else all is happening in Iraq and Syria will spread like wildfire (as is already being suggested is about to happen) to neighbouring countries so… if Jim is also correct as to the TRUE origins of the so-called 'jihadists', acing sooner will stem their flow of funds, will it not?

As always, the Key of Keys to unlocking this unholy mess is the liberation of the gold and silver markets. This is the bit that always, always sounds like wish-fulfilment (and in a way it is - but it is a good wish, not a bad wish). The gold and silver markets HAVE TO BE liberated just as Europe HAD TO BE LIBERATED during the Second World Conflagration. There is no other choice. The wish-fulfilment bit suggests it has to be done soon, sooner, sooner than sooner, that is, NOW, or nothing will be left in great swathes of the Middle-east!

I don't like to disagree with Jim but I feel there is a pressing need for change. A pressing need for change so that GOOD can assert itself, ESTABLISH ITSELF fully and completely into every part of this planet and into every living being on this planet. Again, another wish to be fulfilled but, again, a GOOD wish, a wish for GOOD to prevail. And time is really of the essence to this - it is the key that unlocks the door to a golden and silver-lined future.

Those who, reading this, snigger (Brit. English) and sneer at such hopes should look into their hearts and reappraise their own feelings because what I have stated here is the truth. I am certainly not alone in these beliefs but I see the need for gold and silver to be liberated not for self-enrichment (selfish enrichment) but so that HUmanity itself can be released, LIBERATED, from its suffocating bondage, its suffocating servitude which has gone on, possibly, for millennia. Do good works with your riches when they are available to you: heed Jesus of Nazareth's parable of the talents which is absolutely KEY (apposite) to this. Don't bury your silver talent in the ground - go out and enrich your community, your nation, the whole world in whatever way you have skills and (human) talents to accomplish. Love your neighbour and encourage him/her to join you in your endeavours or encourage them to strat their own - so the ripples of GOODNESS spread out across our world-pond! That's is how GOOD will CONQUER EVIL.

And for all this to come to pass, the liberation of GOLD and SILVER MUST HAPPEN FIRST.

EU ready to impose tougher sanctions on Russia

BRUSSELS, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- The European Union's leaders decided early Sunday to give Russia one week to de-escalate Ukraine crisis, or they will impose tougher sanctions on Russia otherwise, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy told a news conference after a special summit in Brussels. "The European Council says that it stands ready to take further significant steps in the light of the evolution of the situation on the ground and it requests the Commission to urgently take preparatory work and present proposals for consideration within a week," Van Rompuy said. "If Russia continues to escalate the Ukrainian crisis, it will come with high cost," said European Commission President Jose Manual Barroso said at the same press conference. "I can assure you the Commission will be quick to deliver further proposals for restrictive measures, as the European Council has unanimously requested us to present," Barroso added. Barroso also noted that EU won't consider military solutions to the Ukraine crisis. "There can be no military solution to this crisis. It's time for everyone to get down to the business of peace-making. It is not too late, but time is quickly running out."

Re False Flag

Ancientmoney posted;

"If an attack does take place in the name of ISIS, it is vital that Americans remember that this is not the violent invasion of a foreign army, that there is no Islamic enemy except that which our government created, that this is not some unexpected form of “blowback” from terrorists who used to be our allies, that this is an engineered attack by contracted employees of our own defense and intelligence apparatus leading a horde of useful psychopaths, and just like during Operation Gladio, the goal will be to terrify you and those around you into seeking out a more powerful, more centralized government authority to protect your security, to provide cover for the continued planned collapse of American society into third world status, and out of these ashes, the centralization of the political and financial foundations of our world into the hands of an elite few."

NWO's, one sickening lie after another, hands awash in the blood of many innocents, through a complicit lying Media, captured greedy soulless lying Politicians, a completely foolish, apathetic Populace, concerned only with how to keep 'getting mine', blind to the suffering of others, will place their heads in the Yolk of their new slave masters willingly.

Disgusting evil bastards, continue to murder with the blessing of current Puppet Leaders, for personal bunks in the NWO hierarchy, not realizing that when their useful idiot jobs are done they will be thrown under the bus with everyone else.

Small consolation, knowing the peon Pretorian guards enforcing this evil will be consumed as well.

ISIL ISIS false flag coming soon?

"With all this hype circling ISIS, I have to suggest that maybe, just maybe, we are being given the ultimate scapegoat for the ultimate false flag attack. When building the narrative of a traditional story, the hero is really a secondary character, because the hero is only as impressive as the villain he must eventually defeat. If you look at mainstream media and geopolitics as a theater script, rather than a series of random events, it appears as though ISIS is being built up as a villain so pervasive and devious the group could accomplish ANYTHING.

I believe the time is in fact ripe for a large scale false-flag on American soil. It may be a singular attack limited to a city or region, or, numerous smaller attacks executed in concert. I see the media overload of ISIS fever as a means to condition the public to believe in the ISIS myth – the myth that they are a sophisticated international super-terrorist conglomerate; a real life Legion of Doom. If Americans are conned into buying this myth, they may also be fooled into abandoning their Constitutional liberties and natural freedoms in the face of a well planned attack blamed on ISIS elements. I believe there will likely come a day when the mere act of exposing the lie or standing against government overreach will be called "treason", and people like myself will be labeled "no better than ISIS".

If an attack does take place in the name of ISIS, it is vital that Americans remember that this is not the violent invasion of a foreign army, that there is no Islamic enemy except that which our government created, that this is not some unexpected form of “blowback” from terrorists who used to be our allies, that this is an engineered attack by contracted employees of our own defense and intelligence apparatus leading a horde of useful psychopaths, and just like during Operation Gladio, the goal will be to terrify you and those around you into seeking out a more powerful, more centralized government authority to protect your security, to provide cover for the continued planned collapse of American society into third world status, and out of these ashes, the centralization of the political and financial foundations of our world into the hands of an elite few."

Turd Hits The Big Time; GATA

Congrats to you Turd..

Natural law and economic law are with gold, but laws no longer apply

Submitted by cpowell on Thu, 2014-08-28 15:42. Section: Daily Dispatches

11:57a ET Thursday, August 28, 2014

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

Examining the astounding and continuing downward trend of interest rates that has brought some rates into negative territory, the TF Metals Report's Turd Ferguson postulates today that gold and silver prices won't be going any lower, regardless of the charting done by technical analysts. Ferguson's commentary is headlined "ZIRP Morphs to NIRP" and it's posted at the TF Metals Report here:

Of course Ferguson is right about what ordinarily has been the inverse relationship of gold prices and real interest rates. That relationship was described by the 1988 academic study by Harvard University economics professor Lawrence Summers and University of Michigan economics professor Robert Barsky, "Gibson's Paradox and the Gold Standard":

(Yes, Summers went on to run the U.S. Treasury Department, where his knowledge of gold pricing seems to have come in handy.)

But then Western central bank policy long has been to defeat ordinary market forces -- indeed, in recent years Western central bank policy has been to prevent any markets from happening at all:

This policy is what even some central bankers themselves now call "financial repression":

So while negative real interest rates may tend to support gold prices and asset prices generally, they also may be accompanied by still more "financial repression," particularly against the monetary metals, currencies that compete with and threaten government currencies and bonds.

Central bank gold sales and leasing, the underpinnings of the world's fractional-reserve gold banking system, whereby huge amounts of imaginary "paper" gold are created to nullify gold's scarcity and suppress its price, were always plainly mechanisms of "financial repression" to defend currencies and government bond prices. So amid the descent into negative real interest rates, what is to prevent central banks from underwriting still more "paper" gold for price suppression?

Such a policy probably could be defeated only by 1) mass exposure, which would require the mainstream financial news media to stop averting its gaze and to resolve to hold government to account; 2) a major sovereign foreign-exchange surplus holder's decision to switch its surplus heavily and abruptly into gold to strike a political blow; or 3) by the simple exhaustion of the gold reserves of the nations participating in gold price suppression, the circumstances that collapsed the last acknowledged mechanism of price suppression, the London Gold Pool, in March 1968:

The point here is that natural, economic, and even societal laws are disintegrating throughout the world under the pressure of what is essentially totalitarianism, the totalitarianism of central banking, which thrives only because, like the new clothes of the emperor in the fairy tale, it cannot be acknowledged for what it is -- cannot even be examined and questioned.
