TFMR Podcast #34 - Another Willie

144

The Golden Jackass returns today with a conversation that revolves around the debt, the dollar and what is to come.

I realize that we just spoke with Jim a month ago but there are so many wildfires currently blazing around the world that I felt it imperative to bring him back in today. This podcast is of a somewhat different format from previous discussions, though. There are big topics mentioned here and I wanted you to hear Jim's unique perspective, uninterrupted. Therefore, you'll likely notice that I speak very little and with few follow-up questions. My goal was to simply ask Jim a question and then just shut up and let him answer it.

If you're a fan of The Jackass and his immeasurable wit and wisdom, then you're certain to enjoy this latest podcast.

I'm too old

to take off into the woods, although I am surrounded by state forest land.

I can see needing to flee a forest fire, invading army, roving heavily armed gang, etc.

What about a buried shipping container that one can flee into?

The entrance can be camouflaged, as can the air vent.

One can have food, water, guns, bathroom facilities all right there. If it has four feet of soil on top of it, it will also act as a great fall out shelter.

I have a number of friends who have them, and they look like a better alternative to me than having to flee into the woods with wolves and coyotes and two legged predators

One friend paid $3500 for the container and having it buried.

Seems like a great solution to me.

S Roche

i think its about time you served up some of your own 'analysis' rather than repeating your disappointment at others.

Maybe a run through of how the etf may or may not be used as a flywheel would be a start.

WAPO Platinum coinage - $1 Trillion dollar platinum

https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/could-the-platinum-coin-...

This story discusses the idea of having the US Mint issue Trillion dollar platinum coins.

I have no idea what that would do to the price of gold, but the point is clear.

Why is WaPo writing an entire column about platinum coinage and completely ignoring silver and gold?

thank you Roark, BOG

ditto TF for the newsletter.

you guys have covered the prepping real well. i will only add that a Native American learned in the traditional ways need not prep. of course, there are shortcuts such as knives, cig lighters, canned food, hunting gear etc. but i have learned a lot from some Indian friends. some of the stuff seems so obvious once you are shown, but you never would have thought of it yourself, if like me, you were raised in a certain belief system. the biggest thing i have learned is not to try to beat mother nature. you will lose. figure out what Mother wants to do, and go along with her. she will provide everything you need. the best survival manuals will be written by Indians, or other aboriginal cultures.

edit: i don't believe that we are heading for some type of apocalyptic event, though it is my responsibility to prepare anyway. GL's postings from Queens NYC lately emphasized that. those who don't prepare for disasters, shouldn't expect those that did to bail them out when the SHTF. so i got my bases covered. i use all my prepping stuff anyway, as i am an avid outdoorsman.

Roark & Epic failure...prepper style...

Thank You for the great post...as it is indeed a wake-up call to many who think they ARE prepared for anything...What scenarios are we prepping for...economic fallout...civil war...natural disaster...nuclear disaster...biological warfare...or some other disaster?...We don't really know!...What items would be useful...& what items would be excess baggage?...What if 5 days go by & nobody comes to save us?...What happens when your supplies run out?...There are many questions...but not enough answers!...Being prepared for a few days...& surviving for long term...may mean that your "bug out camping gear"...may have to be updated to "survival gear"...for a transition to survival mode!...This may mean that a light loaded backpack with only the basic tools...will be a necessity if you are fleeing!...Where may you be fleeing to?...Possibly trekking a minimum of 30 miles in from the nearest road...where there is a fast running river (a potable water source)...may be the ideal place to go...Not many will make it there...that's why that may be the best way to go...If you are not continually fleeing...& there are no outside threats...then it may be safe to set up a survival home...Build a fire & shelter...fish & hunt...& forage for edible plants & herbs...it may be all you can do!...The less you carry...the better chance you have of survival...so it is important to pack tools (not dependent on outside replenishment) & items which will last for many years!...It is imperative to prepare by having the knowledge of how to make useful tools/items...in this kind of environment...with the hope of never having to use this knowledge!...How do I know?...I am a survivalist...I have been there...done that...lived over a year in the frozen Canadian wilderness using this knowledge...& stayed warm...clean...& well fed the whole time!...Why did I do it?...Because I wanted to find myself & determine whether I could... & discovered that I can...& so can all of you!...Once again...learn how to do these things...& once again...hope that you NEVER have to use this knowledge!...

However...if we have natural/nuclear disaster...or biological warfare...probably none of this knowledge will help any of us anyways!!!...

thanks roark

Thanks for sharing that with everyone. That was thought provoking and a very human take on a serious subject that all of us could learn from and consider further. I know I will.
