TFMR Podcast #9 - "Ranting Andy" Hoffman

213

Yesterday, I had an opportunity to speak with Andy Hoffman of Miles Franklin Precious Metals Investments. If you not already a fan of the daily "Ranting Andy" blogposts from Miles Franklin, you likely become one after you've listened to this forty-minute podcast.

Brash, bold and insightful, Andy combines his expert analysis with a New York, tell-it-like-it-is attitude. The result is some of the consistently best PM analysis on the internet.

Junk silver as a medium of exchange

I dunno…

If it ever comes down to paying a debt to farmer Brown with silver I think he'll be plenty savvy enough to know what's going on with 90%. Odds are most farmers do already.

Personally, if it ever comes to that, I think 90% will be the go-to preferred medium of exchange and it may even get to the point that premiums on it eventually wind up higher than your average round, maple or ASE, simply for the fact that it is such a convenient medium of exchange.

Imagine a situation where you pay for a weeks worth of groceries with one 90% quarter and receive several dollars face value in nickels and pre-1984 pennies (maybe mixed in with a 90% dime) as change. Confusing, but within the realm of possibility.

I ask for all my change in nickels and save them all, plus, I occasionally run a $25 Brinks box of pennies through my copper sorter - I get about $6 face value of copper every time. If it turns out I wasted my time doing all that, fine by me - they're still worth what I paid for 'em!

Merry Christmas all - I'm off to watch "A Christmas Story" with my family.

Check out the Steveo 2012 Telescope Project, not just for Astro-freaks!
Really good Scope, I put up a video collage of moon shots, and some picture of Saturn and Jupiter.
Also, fully $1000 over budget, so any Christmas Kliks are appreciated!!

Merry Christmas

Last post for me this Christmas Eve.

Best Wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year from from Captain Scarlet and the whole Spectrum Family.

Our Traditions - Tonight - Tortellini in chicken broth for dinner; Watching "Give or Take a Million" (1966) (The Thunderbirds Christmas episode), "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians" episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000, and "A Christmas Carol" (1951) with Alistair Sim.

Tomorrow is turkey with all the trimmings along with homemade cavatelli in tomato sauce.

No tree this year since Sasha is still a little too "unreliable".
