SPECIAL PODCAST: Joe Carrabba of Winston Gold

70

As we await the FOMC Fedlines at 2:00 pm ET today, here's a little something to help you kill the time. I just learned of Winston Gold a few days ago but I was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet with Joe Carrabba, their Executive Chairman and I think you're going to find this quite interesting.

Over the course of this call, Joe and I hit several key points:

  1. I'd be crazy to not ask him about the current markets for gold and the mining shares...so that's where we begin.
  2. Where Winston Gold is located, the history of the jurisdiction and the team they've assembled.
  3. Their plan to begin production as soon as next month with an initial first year goal of 30,000 ounces. That may not sound like much but when you consider that the company only carries a $35MM market cap....

Of course, I strongly urge you to conduct all of your own due diligence before ever making any sort of investment decision. You can begin by learning more about the company through their website:

Thanks again to Joe for sharing his valuable time with me yesterday. Please give this podcast a thorough listen.

Not a bad speculation at this price...

If the drilling can be funded via the production cash flows out of the brown fields stopes, you have effectively bought a self-funding lottery ticket.

Lack of volatility

Two thoughts:

Firstly, a bullish reaction in the metals was so predictable and (presumably) so untimely or intolerable that it had to be stopped. The upside volatility spike of 50c or so in SI was just arrested below recent highs.

Conversely, a bearish reaction was not going to be the market's response, and attempts to push the metals down recently have been both vicious and unsuccessful (and barely concealed), so anyone with stops within 50c had probably removed them or closed their position already. If you keep biting the postman, he stops coming up the path...

Price is already wedged into a corner between a trend / supply and demand dynamic saying absolutely must go up now, and banks saying No.

Result: lower than average vol.

Question: knowing how price behaves around the Fed, will we now see a disappointed exodus (msm narrative) or a relieved return / releveraging (rational reaction by previously burned traders who can see the market)?

Mine is the one on the right.

Slow day at work

Trying to keep some perspective while at the office. Stopped by the LCS today and picked up this beauty for $30 per oz. Owner says metal easier to source lately, but many people bringing in an selling him collectible coins. His displays were full of coins, with boxes of unsorted coins on the floor of his shop, waiting to be put on shelves that he didn't have. I suspect his safe was full.

Rumblings of a stimulus deal

Now the Dem's pressuring Pelosi to cut a deal. Have to turn on the spigot to get the water moving.

Really?!?!

I didn't think that would be allowed in Texas. Most people I have met from Texas are fiercely independent and would not tolerate that kind of abuse.
