Not a bang, but a whimper?

I am always on the lookout for articles that goes contrary to my beliefs. I found the following, which argues (sort of) that the US is going into a Japanese-type scenario, with a "Zombie Economy".

I'm more of a "big-bang-up-ahead"-kinda guy, but it would be interesting to see what people believe. The Japan-parallell is of course nothing new, with the notable difference in trade balance and the fact that Japan contains Japanese people and no Awmericans. So, who thinks the Big Bad Ben blows the monetary system out of orbit, and who thinks he will leave it to collapse under its own weight?
