Hey everyone! A few buddies of mine have just launched a really great website/tool to compare and evaluate gold & silver mining stocks with:
All basic memberships will always remain free, so anyone can sign up for free. And at the moment, they're doing a special where everyone who signs up gets a complimentary 10-day free trial to use the premium Gold membership (a lot more added features). Just click on the "Sign Up" tab to sign up.
Once the 10-day trial runs out, your account will just revert back to the basic membership, so there is no payment involved.
They also have a FB and Twitter account:
If you have any questions, comments or suggestions you can contact them at info[at]miningstockvaluator[dot]com
I'm one of the "buddies"
We're trying our very best to gather the biggest online collection of easily available gold and silver stock data. The end result being that with the click of a button you get all the latest financial and operational data for pretty much any gold or silver miner out there. The data is at most 3-4 months old and the number of stocks covered is growing every day.
But it's not just about the data, the real power of the application is how it processes it and calculates everything from key metrics to jurisdiction ratings and, if you wish, Au/Ag equivalents. It then displays it in a readable format and lets you track and analyze your stocks in real time. It even gives a fair and totally unbiased Total Score for each stock - all depending on your settings.
The site is really fresh, so there are a lot of new features getting added each week. There is a "Gold Membership" for a relatively small yearly fee where you get some cool extra features (like the Total Score), but most of the site comes completely free of charge. I think it's worth checking it out if you own gold/silver stocks or are planning to buy some.
Thanks for your time!
Since August 1st.
MSV Top 10 Total Score picks: +29.6%
MSV Top 10 Silver Stocks picks: +41%
We believe they will continue to outperform and actually perform better and better as the amount of data being analyzed by MSV, before picking the stocks, keeps growing.
Even though we're still a new and relatively small site, we just released a Stock Forum with some fun features. You can for instance stack your very own digital gold and silver coins by posting comments that others like :)
A new function has been added where you can simply update any company with the newest data directly in your portfolios. A green "+" will appear to the left of any stock with newer data available. A click on the "+" is all it takes to update everything from production & cash costs to reserves/resources & financials + all the key metrics.
There are some other nice improvements in the works as well.
We're also pretty pleased that the Top Picks have continued up almost 7% since my last post, while the HUI is down a bit. They should outperform though, as they are the 10 stocks with the most solid mix of safe jurisdiction, balance sheet, NI 43-101 and cash flow out of hundreds.
Yesterday we launched a new trading tool which will keep track on your buy & sell orders together with your deposits & withdrawals. Most brokerage accounts miserably fail to accurately track both the performance of the individual shares as well as the overall portfolio, as soon as some selling gets involved.
We believe the trading section will be useful for everyone as it's possible to trade and keep track of any stocks (not just gold and silver stocks) and portfolios. You also have the option to view your trading portfolio in 7 different currencies.
It's 100% free to use for anyone. There's a screenshot in our fact sheet for those who want to have a look at it.
There has been a history feature added where members (and non-members) can check out how all past Top Picks in MSV Index and MSV Silver Index have performed. There are some limitations when it comes to the most recent history as the Top Picks are one of the perks of being a Gold Member.
The picks are made by MSV's ranking algorithm that does what no human possibly can. It compares huge amounts of data for hundreds of gold and silver stocks and hands you the fundamentally most undervalued ones at any given point in time.
The indexes show the performances of two portfolios that are traded once in the beginning of every month. The stocks that no longer make the Top 10 lists are replaced by new choices, and the indexes are adjusted so each stock makes up 10% of the total portfolio.
Both the indexes have continued to outperform the HUI, GDX and GDXJ even while the sector has been down during October. See the comparison table below for details.
*since August 1, 2012
Some basic data for about 35 of the most common silver stocks
You're able to sort and compare things like financials, production, cash costs, reserves/resources and more...
I know a lot of people just want to be able to quickly compare silver companies without having to sign up - even if it's free to do so. Well, here you go ;)
MSV has gotten a facelift and looks quite different from before. More tools and features have been added, navigation has been simplified and the whole site works smoother.
Check it out ;)
Almost 6 months since the launch and it's time for a reality check. These portfolios are only traded once/month and are supposed to represent performances that are easily achievable without having to stay connected 24/7 waiting for the next trading alert.
Both the GDX and GDXJ have also yielded negative returns over the same time period. We are happy over the results so far and believe our stock picking algorithm will continue to vastly outperform, even when the market sooner or later turns around. It only picks stocks based on the current state of each company. Management promises are thrown right out the window.
We are actually a bit surprised that both our model portfolios have outperformed all other gold stock indexes/funds by as much as they have. Especially since the overall sector is down a lot over the past six months.
Yeah, we know the S&P still beats us...but you guys must even expect the HUI to pass it eventually ;)
Also, don't forget that it's totally free to use most of our site!
MSV is currently operating at a loss and to be able to afford to have our service up and running we are raising the yearly Gold Membership to $197/year. This will take effect on Monday May 20 and anyone who signs up for a Gold Membership before then will not just getit cheaper but also lock in the old price for a second year (if they wish to extend the membership later on).
As always, the free membership will always be free and gives you the latest gold & silver stock data.
will check out, the idea sounds interesting.
