Conservation Easements - Advice? Caveats?

Greetings, fellow Turdites!

Just curious whether y'all consider the disposition of the land in your prepping activities. I'm not getting a sense that my children care about carrying on the legacy I am building with regard to my woodland rehabilitation, and I feel it should be preserved as a demonstration forest.

On the surface, granting a conservation easement seems appealing, but it's a decision I don't wish to make without first inquiring about experiences and possible regrets others have had.

I do have to add that I find government extortion through endless taxation of our birthright to own property to be morally reprehensible, so there are other motivating factors.
