Special Podcast: Lutz, Rubino and TF

This public podcast is very helpful and informative. You should be sure to listen.

46

Last Thursday, Kerry Lutz invited John Rubino and I to discuss the important trends in the markets and the economy for 2019. It went quite well so I thought it deserved its own thread.

This thing clocks in at about 42 minutes but it's definitely worth your time. I'd never met John Rubino before and I was impressed with his knowledge and ability to explain things coherently. Over the course of this conversation, the three of us discuss:

  • the state of the US economy
  • Fed policy in 2019 and beyond
  • the fragility of the "stock market"
  • expectations for Comex gold and silver
  • quite a bit more, too

So, please try to carve out some time to give this a listen. You won't be disappointed.

a "meteor" landed in Venezuela

I used startpage.com to perform the search.

Type in venezuela meteor. Could be a message? Will be interesting if they show the spot where it landed and if there is any meteor debris.

Wonder what else the USA sent to Venezuela? Guaido (he graduated from a USA university - can't make this stuff up).

The “real work” began two years later, in 2007, when Guaidó graduated from Andrés Bello Catholic University of Caracas. He moved to Washington DC to enroll in the Governance and Political Management Program at George Washington University under the tutelage of Venezuelan economist Luis Enrique Berrizbeitia, one of the top Latin American neoliberal economists. Berrizbeitia is a former executive director of the International Monetary Fund who spent more than a decade working in Venezuelan energy sector under the oligarchic old regime that was ousted by Chavez.

@libero -> shallow; @NW View -> deep

Enough said.

Well, maybe not... Who amongst us is happy about American imperialism and crony capitalism? Come on! Fess up! Whoever you are! Crickets..... I ain't holding my breath. I seriously doubt and can virtually guarantee that @libero can not and will not find a single turdite amongst us who is.

So what the hell is his beef, aside from being just another leftie trying to pit one group against another in some idealistic fantasy of his, likely shared with AOC? Sheesh! As usual, aside from metals and miners, his mind is totally obscured by clouds.

This is from last week, too

Can't remember if it was Monday or Tuesday. Either way, I recall thinking that it was a pretty good discussion.

Chuck Butler (Daily Pfennig)

Here in the U.S., we’ll finally get to see the color of December Retail Sales! This report was delayed because of the Gov’t shutdown, but then once the shutdown was over, it was delayed more… And last week, I mentioned or questioned, if you will, what the report was going to show us, and if the Gov’t was attempting to put it out under the cover of darkness because it was so bad? We’ll finally get to see this report on Thursday this week, and I’m betting a dollar to a Krispy Kreme, that the report will be awful… show no growth in the month that houses the Christmas shopping season, and when they take out auto sales, it will be negative…

I can’t wait to hear what the Spin Doctors, and not the ones that sang Two Princes, spin this report to the public, because they’ll have some explanin’ to do Lucy!

Libero is saying US priorities wrong. Trumps wall is BS, but immigration issues are serious because of corruption and transfer of wealth. Trump is fueling failure contrary to common sense and Constitutional values. He is a poor leader, has mental issues and can not focus on what is good for America.

Start with enforcing the law and regulation on corporations and banks. Immigrants fleeing from starvation and fear are not an enemy. Stealing resources internally and giving them to a corrupt group of sociopaths is the problem. Trump is part of the problem.

Immigrants fleeing from starvation and fear are not an enemy.

They could present themselves at a LEGAL point of entry and claim asylum. Instead they avoid the inspection process and enter ILLEGALLY. Here is the law in regards as to why their are in fact ILLEGAL:

Sec. 275. [8 U.S.C. 1325]

(a) Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, United States Code, or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or b oth, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, United States Code, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.

Lakedweller, why is it you want to enforce law on Corps and Banks, which I certainly agree, but not enforce immigration law?

You sponsor one of those illegal immigrants in your own home, pay for their food, clothing, healthcare, until or if they ever become self-sufficient, and I may start taking you seriously.

Not Listening

Immigration a problem. There are procedures but they are being overwhelmed by the flocking of people fleeing despotic conditions. They are not rapists, thieves and duct taping human traffickers. Some may be criminals.

Problem: Bad leaders throughout Latin America are driving people from their homes.

Problem: Bad leaders fighting over oil and oil pipelines in the Middle East are creating war and driving people from their homes.

While No One is Paying Attention: Politicians, Corporations and Banks have bankrupted the US to the point its very sovereignty is threatened by "internal corruption and theft". Not fleeing aliens.

Where is the Financial Wall proposal against Central Banking and Corporations. There is none. Why isn't there one? Why do we want to destroy the whole Federal Law Enforcement system. To protect the corruption...not protect aliens fleeing from injustice.

How long can they delay the collapse and how long are the people going to be afraid of starving/hungry aliens. Part of the budget for immigration is for Judges and processing staff. Those people can speed up the process of reviewing legal immigration. But no...we argue about a wall and have to lock everyone up in camps and talk about all the murders rapes that are being committed at a lower rate than the general US population...

And continue to let the Central Bankers and Corporations walk away with money that doesn't exist that puts everyone of us in a Giant Hole...but we have to have that wall first.

No...No...No. First we need to redirect law enforcement to massive White Collar Crime and put them in jail. That is the REAL SWAMP.

JW: Well said.

It also comes to mind the adage that "We must (act) together, or we will all (be taken down) separately."

Only education can gather enough support to put a stop to the "system" that now enslaves not only us, but our posterity.

Jim, You Don't Mention

That many of the jobs "available" today don't pay enough for one to live on, much less support a family, and do not have the benefits that were there before the crash. There has been little, if any recovery. Was it like that "Back in the day"? (Not rhetorical.)

It's most likely more lucrative to panhandle at the traffic light than to take 2 or 3 part time jobs that don't have benefits, as well as being more cost effective to live in the wild or a car than to maintain a house. Along with this is the breakdown of civilization "on the streets." It is dog-eat-dog there. People moving from shelter to shelter prey on the weak and sleeping even as they do on the streets. "Shelter" is no shelter. This will spread to touch all of us before it gets better.

@ AngryCitizen

Well, you have stated a lot of truth. An entry level job, back in the '60's, would pay the rent, car payment and some had benefits. My first real job was with the State of Washington. It was $533/mo. and included health and sick leave along with paid vacation time. My rent was $65/mo. and a new car payment was $100/mo.. We were high on the hog. Taxes were really cheap.

I do not know how to solve the homeless problems nor how to get the millions off of drugs. I have little hope of MAGA, and I do not see any peace coming within politics. We still work hard with our kids and grandkids, making sure they understand that honesty and a work ethic is foundational to living a happy and peaceful life. All are doing great and we are blessed. Jim
