Cast out any demons at the steeple house lately?

Smith Wigglesworth, British apostle, 1860-1947

Albert Hibbert was a close friend of the Wigglesworth family and was thus in a good position to write a brief survey of his life called Smith Wigglesworth, The Secret of His Power. He heard the stories firsthand of healing the sick, raising the dead, and deliverances. His power over the enemy is demonstrated in the following anecdote:

“Wigglesworth saw something he would never forget: three strong men trying to hold down a lovely girl about seventeen years of age who was totally naked. The men could not hold her; she was a raging demoniac. The girl’s father, being a wealthy man, did not want his daughter locked away in a padded cell. Rather than institutionalize her, he kept her at home and employed these men to see that she did not destroy herself.”

After some sinister exchange between Wigglesworth and the girl, he commanded the devil to leave. With a loud scream, twelve demons came out. “Immediately, the girl became aware that she was unclothed and, crying out, fled from the room…Ten minutes later he heard a bedroom door open and close, and the sound of light footsteps tripping down the stairs. Wigglesworth then went downstairs and joined for tea a father, a mother, and one of the sweetest girls one could ever imagine--a girl who fifteen minutes before had been a raving maniac,” (39, 40).

He never felt threatened by the devil. “On one occasion Wigglesworth awoke during the night aware of a satanic presence. Looking across the room, he saw the Devil himself standing there. Wigglesworth said to Satan, ‘Oh, it’s only you.’ Then he turned over and went back to sleep,” (51).

Reality Check!

The enemy is everywhere. He has invaded every culture, every system of men, every nation, every media, and every home on the planet, even if that home is a grass hut. Few discern his ways and methods.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. (Eph.)

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

When we see the insanity of the citizens, we react with our ways and views, not seeing the real picture, as the enemy is in the middle, smiling from horn to horn, as most use ineffective worldly ways of approach. We have used worldly ways of dealing with the enemy and he is not fearful of the blinded assembly of believers.

Miracles Glorify Christ

11 Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, 12 so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them. 13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, [a]“We [b]exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” 14 Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so.

15 And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?”

16 Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, [c]overpowered them, and prevailed against [d]them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. 17 This became known both to all Jews and Greeks dwelling in Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Yes, the enemy knew Paul and he knew Jesus (the enemy knew and believed Jesus is Who He says He is), leaving us the question: "but who are you"! Jim

About 40 days until Thanksgiving!

What could we do to make it a wonderful day, for ourselves and our neighbors? Think of the people, out there, ones we cross paths with everyday. Yes there are homeless everywhere, except in my bug out city.

Today, millions will write a tithe check into a divided steeple house system, paying for building/bus/pews/salaries/insurance/staff/and even donuts for their coffee hour. Almost zero will go into the instructions given by the Lord and His Church.

Why not take those funds, forget about a 501-c3 tax deduction, pray for discernment, buy grandma a turkey and slip her enough money to pay her electric bill. Why not slip some bucks into the hands of the old man at Safeway,or buy a few meals for the old senior citizens at the local cafe? We could give a neighbor some fiat to pay for their medical bills or better yet, invite someone to our homes on that wonderful holiday.

We repented, decades ago, of placing our funds into blinded systems of men and asked the Lord to forgive us of ever departing from His instructions, being misled by priestcraft. Jim

I had talked to the new owner a few days ago for the first time. I found out he was a Christian. Well, yesterday he said: "my entire wait staff quit and told me they did not want to work for someone who had his faith". Also, one woman who worked there was attacked verbally, quit and had a breakdown. He was trying to train an older woman to run the cash register and keep his business open as he is the cook. This is the wave of the future for those who preach Christ, as the gates of hell are open wide for those who walk in darkness. jmo Jim

How true of today's generations. So many have no values socially to begin with.

That experience indicates a complete lack of acceptance or tolerance of others views, such closed minds.

I see a very interesting timing of your post with recent current events I have been involved in. Thank you for the post and my wonder is if it might have had intent in that regard. I hadn't viewed my effort to have extended in such a direction, but I do draw a parallel when looking back. My belief was I had failed in my silence is golden efforts.

Your recent commentary of recent days draws some parallels I find intriguing Jim, than you for all of your insight, it has always been valued even if I have failed in attempts to heed it. There are times one must take steps to follow through on ones beliefs of right and wrong. I believe that has been a recent experience for me whether correct or incorrect it was done.

A sign from Sierra Skier!

Timing is always important. I was pondering, early this morning, if I should expose what happened late last year as I do not recall telling anyone about the event. I did not want to "stir" the pot or frighten anyone, but hopefully wake up the believers. It is not my style to post this type of message, reserving these things to the assembly of the local Church, being the people and not the building.

I have been exposed to the demonic, working through people, for decades. Confronting demons and devils across the globe. The believers are quite divided on this subject, refusing to believe the scriptures in the New Testament, the Gospels and the the events in the Acts and onward. Many believers just do not believe in that spiritual world and oh, it is quite real. I have had demons speak to me audibly, and have cast many back into the pit from where they came.

Well, last year, we had someone who was upset with me, from a different forum, threats of violence against me, as if they would send me into hiding. They had "their" spirits that they see and place their hope within. Within days, those spirits were sent to my location, I saw them in the spirit, confronted them and sent them back into the pit from where they came, never to be seen again. This is the life that I walk within, and I have the view that "if" you manifest, you will be sent into that pit that you came from.

The Church must wake up while it is still today. Much of what we see today is just plain old "demon possession", and not just wacky perverts on the lose. Their tongues are always trying to set the agenda of the anti-christ but lack any power over the Church.

Thanks again SS, for you confirmed that I should finally say something. Jim

Very interesting Jim. You and

Very interesting Jim.

You and I have spoken of your experience of sending off evil briefly in the past and the fact that your experience from one on another forum took the effort to attempt assaulting you spiritually is quite desperate and sad. I applaud your success in warding off the spirits and sending where they belong. I should heed your warning and keep my awareness levels up perhaps because of my recent experience on another forum.

Yes, SS,

for the teaching lesson, given by the Lord, is seen here:

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Matthew 12:43-45 King James Version (KJV)

43 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.

44 Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

We are lodged with that "wicked generation" and their argument/stand/education is confronted by Jesus. Their problems are with Him and His Church. Jim

I believe I see an erie parallel of sorts with a recent experience. I haven't taken count as I have yet to visit the new house but would not be surprised the members number the same.

There was desire for non confrontation, yet the desire to quell or rid the house of evil overwhelmed me. I may never know which was the foremost to follow but the results are done.

1John 2 has the real test for all:

21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.

22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So, therefore, the test for being controlled by the anti-christ spirit is plainly stated above. The blinded steeple house systems are also filled with clergy and luke warm believers who 'denieth the Father and the Son" and they are as lost as those who openly deny Christ, being called as liars within the Word.

Therefore, I must confess, that I believe in the Son and the Father, having received Them long ago, within, as They are the Truth. amen Jim

Overhauling versus remodeling versus closing it down!

I remember my first car, a 1953 Ford with a flathead motor. I cannot remember what I paid for it but it was something like $75. It was a beautiful car but had a cracked block and I tried to get some help with an engine overhaul. The cost was so much and I did not have any fiat so I just sold the Ford for scrap.

Several people I know are doing home remodeling. Most of them lose their shirts and quit. There is always something that happens, rotten wood, bugs, damage from wood eating insects, etc. and the job never seems to end. The owners do not want to pay any extra and the contractor cannot make any profit.

We bought an ice cream store, many years ago, and after working for free, losing about $3500/mo., we knew we needed to do something. A remodel would not help and expensive, an overhaul of the business plan was out of our understanding and therefore we "sold it, shut it down".

Many of our problems today are centered on overhauling or remodeling everything. The government wants to remodel our take home pay, our taxes, our health care, our speech, our rights, and even what we think or believe. The steeple houses want to alter our thinking to theirs, and convince us to write them checks to keep their doors open while they continue to alter the Word of God.

There are times when the best solution is just "closing it down". Who wants to remodel the NEA, the DNC, the RNC, the pharmaceutical industry, the divided steeple house systems, the Seattle City Council, the BLM movement, (a long list could be added)!

Yes, there are many things which do not need overhauling or remodeling. Some things will need to be shut down and when Jesus comes again, all of these systems of men will be in the dust, many falling under His judgment. jmo Jim

On the steeple house staff?

The Flabby Body of Christ (This article was just sent to me by Brother Dave in Capetown, RSA) Jim

Why church is so boring

CHURCH IS boring. I don’t ever recall hopping out of bed on Sunday morning jazzed about the sermon, even when the preacher was good. I’ve never driven to church in anticipation of hearing the choir or the worship band, even when they included remarkable musicians. When I went, it was to see my friends. I wanted to talk. Sunday school and Bible study were okay, but breezeway and parking lot conversations were the most invigorating. My utmost communion with the Body of Christ didn’t even happen on the church premises. That happened in some loud restaurant that offered free refills of Diet Coke that helped me power on past noon and large portions that would render me unconscious fifteen minutes after I got home.

Now that I have kids, I don’t really get to have church anymore. Our four year-old quadruplets (all natural, so step-off, octo-haters!) keep us scurrying during the breaks. I go to church for them now. Statistics on church attendance, especially for men my age, suggest that I’m not alone. Maybe the problem isn’t me, after all. Maybe something is wrong with church.

As much as postmodern evangelicals bandy about the word “community,” our gatherings have changed very little. Stylistic alterations might add some hipster flair, but the focal point of the liturgical week remains theater. A dozen or so people perform for a few hundred that sit, stand, kneel, pray, and sing on command. We squeeze real community into the gaps, between events with a hierarchical structure. Not only is this a long way from Biblical models of the early Christian church, it’s a breeding ground for messy group dynamics. And, again, it’s boring.

Church today, whether a cathedral, a mega-aluminum warehouse, or a little wooden building in the country, has little in common with the New Testament church. In the first century there was still teaching, prayer, and worship, but the early church was about community. Paul’s letters paint a picture of people living together and collectively figuring out what it meant to follow Christ. The authority of the leaders and teachers wasn’t a forgone conclusion. They were in dialogue with their congregations. Paul himself often had to defend his position of authority and many of his letters are part of an ongoing doctrinal debate. You get the sense, however, that even theological issues were somewhat secondary. The focus was a meal, not a class or a worship service. Some early Christians enjoyed the community meal so much that Paul had to tell them to tone it down because they were partying a little too hard.

Nowadays, it’s hard to imagine most Christians getting too carried away having a good time together. Church is an adjunct to professional and familial communities. We get up on Sunday, drive, park, sit, listen, sing, pray, chat, and go home. Even if we’re involved in a small group, the relationships are usually secondary. The early Christians learned and grew through relationship. It’s plastered all over the New Testament. Yet, we still structure our religion around one guy, and it’s not Jesus.

Churches often grow for the wrong reason. If you don’t find church boring, it’s probably because of a talented preacher. He’s smart, but moreover, entertaining. Big, active churches are cults of personality, not communities. Try to imagine Mars Hill in Seattle without Mark Driscoll. Try to imagine the other one without Rob Bell (though at least he had the wisdom to abdicate his throne). Try to imagine Lakewood Church without Joel Osteen. You can’t. When the focus turns to Christ, it’s because a showman gets our attention first. We don’t find God in each other. The Body of Christ has an enormous head atop a weak, flabby body.

Though pastors give “servant leadership” lip-service at leadership conferences, few enter the ministry out of a desire to submit and suffer for others. How could they? How can we expect our leaders to be authentic when theater is the center of our religious week? How can someone consent to shepherd the flock as a Man of God without being narcissistic? Any leader in the modern church needs at least a little bit of narcissism to survive. No one is drawn to such a job unless they enjoy power and attention.

A little narcissism isn’t really the problem. We need to like ourselves and have a healthy sense of entitlement. But when these traits reach a clinical level in the form of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), it’s poison to the body of Christ. In my fifteen years as a psychotherapist, I have encountered few human systems so consistently dysfunctional as church staffs. I’ve heard of pastors doing things that would make the most ambitious CEO’s blush. Though most of us only hear about this when a high-profile church leader’s grandiosity leads to recklessness, most of the time acrimony and dysfunction continue behind the scenes for years. When we rely on the talents and titillating vision of one man instead of the slow, silent life of community, it’s easy for people to get hurt.

After spending a thousand words twitting the Sunday service, I should probably come up with an alternative. But I don’t think that’s a good idea. I’m too narcissistic as it is, and I don’t want to be the one to tell you how it’s supposed to be. We need to decide. We need to figure out, once again, what it means to follow Christ together. This is a plea, not a prescription. I want church to be fun again. By fun, I don’t mean entertaining or topical or cool. I can get that at concerts and movies, and they do a much better job than the church ever will. No, I want to talk. I want to listen, but to a friend instead of a sermon. I want to be taught, but only if I can ask questions and participate in dialogue. Mostly, I just want to eat, drink, laugh, and enjoy other people. That’s where I find God.

Correction, Nov. 19, 2009: This article originally stated that Mars Hill Church was in Oregon, rather than Seattle. It has been updated.

Preforming the Show of the Church

A very interesting letter from your friend that is so apropro to our conversation of the steeple house. Serving on the altar I found it much more acceptable than sitting out in the body of the church. I was busy doing things and assisting. I had not really thought about being a performer until I became of age enough to read and chant the Epistle in front of the parish. Of course making entrances carrying tapers and prepping the censor with charcoal and incense was part of the show, we even loaded the incense on occasion to really bellow the sweet smelling smoke for a little extra fun and mischief. Mixing the XXX port wine with hot and cold water to just the right temperature and flavor and cutting the bread in preparation for communion was also a part of our altar duties, then serving the bread and wine to rinse down the holy sacrament helped the congregation to participate in the service/show.

I think I finally realized I was a performer when I got butterflys before chanting the Epistle each time hoping to give a perfect performance. So sad the true assembly of god has been lost to the physical format of worship, the steeple house.

The "show' SS, is controlled by fear, death and hell!

The concept of "joining" the divided system, in the hope of avoiding hell, is their main "tool" to capture mankind. I remember well, sitting on that hard pew and also serving with the priests and I was always thinking: "Oh God, where are You? For I cannot see any Life in this place, no joy, and things are always spooky. How can I find You Lord? Where is the phone to call upon You? I have sat here, Sunday after Sunday, for many years, and nothing has changed. When I go to confession, I do not feel any better and next week is coming with a new set of sins. Something is wrong but I do not know what. Oh Lord, help me."

That help came when I finally was prayed for, and "received Christ within", long ago. Now, the Teacher is within. I have met two retired priests, over the many years, who retired from that priesthood, and they both said they became Christians "after' retirement and they were sick over not being able to help anyone in their former service to the blinded system.

Brother Dave, in Capetown, and many others in RSA, had departed from the organized steeple house systems of men, decades ago. On my first trip to RSA, about 40+ years ago, I found out that these men were light years ahead of the blinded American missionaries who were trying to gather converts into the systems of men. Oh what a blessing to find the true Church, even in Africa. Jim

I found it in 1965 in the lobby when I watched two church elders arguing over the financial issues of the physical steeple house a half hour after communion.

@ Sierra Skier

Thanks for posting the rapture link.  I am going to grab one of my grandkids, next week, and see if they can  help me to learn this new site.  I see that an ad is now in front of the video, oh well.

I am encouraged these days as some, few, are finally studying the Truth, exposing the false, and coming out against the false teachings from 1800 onward. Forty years ago, we felt like we were totally isolated and few would listen.

Thanks again for posting the video.   Jim

Phocion stated: "sleeping with peace"

I. Phocion, a famous Athenian, was honest and poor, yea, he contemned riches: for a certain governor making rich presents, he returned them; saying, "I refused Alexander's." And when several persuaded him to accept of such bounty, or else his children would want, he answered, "If my son be virtuous, I shall leave him enough; and if he be vicious, more would be too little." He rebuked the excess of the Athenians, and that openly; saying, "He that eateth more than he ought, maketh more diseases than he can cure." To condemn or flatter him, was to him alike. Antipater pressing him to submit to his sense, he answered, "Thou canst not have me for thy friend and flatterer too." Seeing a man in office to speak much, and do little, he asked, "How can that man do business, that is always drunk with talking?" After all the great services of his life, he was unjustly[238] condemned to die; and going to the place of execution, lamented by the people, one of his enemies spit in his face; he took it without any disorder of mind, only saying, "Take him away." Before execution, his friends asked him, whether he had nothing to say to his son? "Yes," said he, "let him not hate my enemies, nor revenge my death: I see it is better to sleep on the earth with peace, than with trouble upon the softest bed: that he ought to do that which is his duty; and what is more is vanity: that he must not carry two faces: that he promise little, but keep his promises: the world does the contrary."  (No Cross, No Crown, page 299)
