levels, from janitors, cashiers, assemblers, all the way up to the highly paid security desk traders are being replaced slowly but surely. Many thousands of the top dollar traders were laid off as algo and bots can trade faster and most efficiently, with substantially greater profit to the house.
The illumiliteratti, technowingnutians and ether breathing AI types are all giddy about this. Not only do they get to reap the profits of these bits of nano tech wizardry but some estimate that 30% or more of the people presently employed at 'menial tasks' (menial to the cream of the crop at the top of monetary food chain) they are taking away the fulfillment of millions of people who do these jobs at $10-15 an hour.
These jobs support families. Maybe a couple making $25,000 each are not going to be rolling in the hay but that can still make for a decent living. These jobs build a pathway for younger people to gain job and work skills that are not being taught anywhere that I can see. Even low wage people can put together a judicious program of savings that will reap substantial rewards in 3-4 decades.
The robots and programs that replace 60,000,000 workers today will absolutely crush tax revenues, which begs the question, where will tax revenues come from? Beats me. Which is the reason why the gummint propeller heads and the elite technoglobalist class are all giddy about UBI. Universal Basic Income
I call it the--- Sit on your ass and get money for nothing plan. Even Nancy Pelosi was touting the idea that we can calculate GDP by factoring in the 'contribution' of those who wool gather, play computer games, muse and meditate and all those other very useful activities that actually make something.
While 60 million people sit on their butts or get some gig job with Lyft or go door to door hawking dog crap cleaning services---yes, those exist and there's a web site for a franchise I think it's called PetButler.com or Doodycalls.com I shit you not. I see a franchise similar to Uber where Dole Geezers like me can deliver groceries to even old geezers. Tips are welcome.
BTW The gummints are working overtime to find ways to tax a robot worker the same way as they tax a human. If the sex bot industry is dragged into that I'll have to send my Rhoda The Robot comfort girl back to the Kyoto factory to get rid of the spyware and AI chip.
I refuse to pay a tax toll for silicon poon. (Just kidding---wifey's giving me the hairy eye, asking why I'm smiling. I just say TFMR.
So I will engage a human checker or teller, eschew anything that removes a person from the mix.
All kidding aside, 10 years ago I was working on a financing package for a San Diego firm called Real Dolls It's now called Abyss creations in San Marcos CA They got VC funds and now sell these things for $50,000. I'll leave it to your imagination what they do. But it ain't dishes.
