OBAMA hands elections systems to DHS

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2017-01-06/stunning-last-minute-power-grab-obama-designates-election-systems-critical-infrastru

In an unbelievable power grab Obama declares all elections systems "critical infrastructure" and hands them to DHS. If upheld, there goes any chance of an honest vote.

"Of course, it's likely not a coincidence that the DHS made this announcement just hours after the "intelligence community" declassified their "Russian Hacking" propaganda which basically noted that RT has a very effective social media distribution platform while once again providing absolutely no actual evidence."

Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp who recently told Politico it is nothing more than an attempt to "subvert the Constitution to achieve the goal of federalizing elections under the guise of security." (Bingo!)

And here's this!

"The Obama administration even offered to help states protect their systems, but states declined the offer, perhaps because they didn’t believe the threat existed. Ironically, one of the declining states was Georgia, whose secretary of state claimed after the Nov. 8 election that state systems were electronically tampered with…by computers whose addresses led back to the Department of Homeland Security, reported Glitch.news." https://www.naturalnews.com/2017-01-10-obama-leaving-as-many-political-l...

I recall to my dismay you told me gato barberri had retired. I don't know if he was good but I damn knew I liked him....

Gato is now playing in that big jam session in the sky. He died in April 2, 2016.

Was he good? He developed a unique sound, not something every musician achieves. He certainly had notoriety for his style and his sound, won the latin grammy awards and he wrote the song that was used as the title soundtrack, for the movie Last Tango in Paris starring Marlon Brando. I saw him perform at the Beacon Theater oh, I guess sometimes in the early to mid-2000's with Michael Frank who I surprisingly was impressed with his band.

I'd say with those credentials, Gato qualifies as good.

Last Tango in Paris Gato Barbieri

I haven't listened to much Larry Coryel but I know his output is prolific.

The guitar I listen to more than somebody like Larry is Pat Metheny because he is the Son of God on the guitar and compositionally. He took jazz to an entirely another level compositionally and improvisation wise as well as sound on the guitar. His early to middle years were the best for me but everybody waits with baited breath to see what he will do next. Genius is an understatement.

When I saw that floppy hair guy walk on stage, the next thing that happens is he keeps you entranced for the entire show> Unbelievable.

I use one of his practice books when I practice bass, or flutes. I don't bow or kiss the rings of people, But if Pat Metheny offered 45 minutes of his time to answer my questions. I'd polish his shoes.

All Hail Pat Metheny!!

Bono of U2. IQ-Genius

Bono of U2.

IQ-Genius Level

U2’s Bono in Washington

U2’s Bono used his fame to meet the people with power and influence in Washington. Then he took the time to learn how DC really works—and he’s become one of them.

https://www.washingtonian.com/2006/03/01/u2s-bono-in-washington/

Well, if Meryl Streep is not news and for dump shits, and you liked that, you’ll like this performance by Bono.

It’s the best use of an NLP Swish pattern I”ve seen. Using hyperbole, and mocking Donald Trump. Isn’t persuasive? Of course, not to you. But to his millions of fans around the world?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=119&v=0SVd2jQAda0

When Martin Luther King was shot on April 4, 1968, the threat of massive racial violence swept the country. At that time, James Brown was the most famous black performer in America. He could fill any stadium. Lyndon Johnson asked James Brown to speak to the country and calm down the anger. And he did. After that it is purported that James Brown was now on the CIA list as one of the most powerful men in the world.

When was Bob Marley shot? During a contentious Jamaican election while the USA was trying to put into a power a USA puppet and destabilize the country. It was Kissinger (now curiously who has met with Trump and Russia) who were implementing socialist programs in Jamaica, Cuba Chile and elsewhere. Nobody, as far as I know, as been able to connect the first gang style assassination attempt on the CIA. Marley was stirring up resistance and revolutionary songs “I don’t work for no stinking’ CIA” Later marley would receive a bullet that was never removed before he went into exile to protect his life.

The John Lennon story you know. Do you know how long that list is of musicians and actors who the CIA considers to be a threat to their power?

And of course, there were the experiments with jazz musicians and drugs.

https://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/2014/03/24/us-jazz-musicians-were-drafted-into-the-cias-mkultra/.

As well as the use of jazz musicians and other music as tools of propaganda. To give one example, Dizzy Gillespie and the United Nations Dream Band. Dizzy was a sweetheart and probably didn’t know he was being used.

Hollywood and Musicians are more influential than ANY other medium and that includes Russian Times and ZeroHedge.

You might want to pay attention to them for they are being used to push an agenda. And the ones doing it are SKILLED!!!

On both sides. And indeed, I’ll be curious who performs at Trumps inaugural ball.

That's purposeful.

Some years back Rosanna Arquette produced a movie. I don't remember the name. It showed at Tribeca Film Festival and it featured a bunch of famous rock musicians. There were bunch there but I don't remember. I remember Boy George sitting infront of me with that big hat.

The movie featured Tom Petty and he said rock and roll and jazz were dead. Commercially dead and that it was relegated to a chamber music like Mozart or a chamber orchestra.

All the major radio stations have been bought by only a couple of players. Most musicians self-produce or work with small labels, producers. That guy I posted the other day is a producer and he says that there are almost no more million record sellers.

Obviously people go to concerts and there are few clubs left that play "real" music but when I was growing up all the musicians had work in commercials, movies, theater or live gigs. The industry has been dismantled.

I even buy Virtual instruments to compose. And if you go into guitar center and look at all the keyboards they make, it's all geared to hip hop music. Hip hop beats. ARtificial sounding drums. So now even the major music manufacturers are catering to this market. For real composers to make a living, they buy all these virtual hip hop beats and compose with it with some fancy tools. Like Omnisphere etc.... I use that to compose real music. Not the crap people are being raised on.

Jackie evanchko IMHO is one of the best classical singers in a generation. She's still a little kid too.

I don't care for them either. But that's not the point.

They showed up in NYC subways a couple of years ago and played in disguise. Does it look like anybody cared until they took their disguises off? Doesn't do anything for me.

"Stars That Kill" Sarah

"Stars That Kill"

Sarah Krish‎ writes...

Mike - I'm curious to read your commentary about Meryl Streep at The Golden Globes.

Hi Sarah,

In 1986, I took my girlfriend to see the movie Alien. She didn’t want to go. Said she hated science fiction. I told her to broaden her horizons, and try something outside her comfort zone. She finally agreed.

In the lobby of the multiplex, I was getting the popcorn and the Junior Mints, and she was waiting for me with a giant Coca-Cola by the door of the auditorium, which the usher was about to close.

“Hurry Michael! The previews are starting!”

We made it with seconds to spare and settled into our seats just in time to see eight minutes of coming attractions, followed by the opening credits for a Meryl Streep film cared “Heartburn.”

“Oh crap,” I said, “we’re in the wrong theater." I stood up but she grabbed the back of my belt, pulling me back into the seat.

“Oh look!” she said. It’s Meryl Streep! She’s such a wonderful actress.”

“Well,” I said, “she was great in Sophie’s Choice, but I don’t want to see a love story. I want to go to space, “where no one can hear me scream.”

“Oh, and look,” she said. “Jack Nicholson is in it too! And hey…it’s a Mike Nichols film! He’s terrific! Let’s just stay and watch this one. Ok?”

“But I want to see Alien,” I said.

“But it's Meryl Streep,” she said.

“But I hate these kinds of movies,” I said.

“Well,” she said, “maybe you should broaden your horizons, and try something outside your comfort zone?”

So, instead of watching Sigourney Weaver sashay around a spaceship in tiny underpants, fighting aliens that popped out of her crew mates abdomens, I watched Meryl Streep pretend to fall in love with Jack Nicholson. Afterwards, we got into an argument at Bennigan’s and broke up during the appetizer. All in all, one of the worst dates I’ve ever had, thanks in part to a truly unconvincing performance.

But I’d sooner go through it all again, before watching a repeat of The Golden Globes.

Mike

PS. In related news, “Stars That Kill” is the title of this week’s episode of “How The Universe Works.” It’s not as good as Sophie’s Choice, but way better than She-Devil, and it's free. Science Channel, 10pm, ET.

PPS. The Way I Heard It is also back. New episode over at mikerowe.com/podcast. Probably won’t win a golden globe, but on the positive side, it only lasts 5 minutes…

Music is an interesting subject,

It's either agenda driven, or it ceases to exist.

Interestingly enough, about an hour ago I got a phone call from a guitarist whom I used to play in a band with.

He wants me to play keyboards, all original music, I'm looking into what he's got mind.

It's been over 20 years since I've performed, and I'm out of practice.

I think I will dig out some keyboards tomorrow, and see if I still have any potential.

Sell all the keyboards and buy this on a small usb drive. 10 years in development. It's a new world, baby!
