This is an Atlantis Mint serialized 10 ounce pirate bar.
They have a limited production of 1000 as stated on the package and with a coa, like this:
Also got a polished 10 ounce serialized skull. Also with a limited production of 1000. This one is my hold-in-the-hand piece. Feels nice and heavy :)
Fun pieces swampgas. I'm in a holding pattern since last December....so it is fun to see what others have been up to.....
A 2012 one-ounce year of the dragon. I like dragons.
Also got three of the two-ounce Liberty Islands from Elemetal Mint. They're very pretty. No wonder Provident is almost always sold out of them.
Also got a one-ounce prooflike Republic of Congo SILVERback Go-rilla. Very pretty and nice detail. Limited mintage of 50,000.
I have that gorilla coin. The background makes it look a little funny in person. Agreed?
Good Find Swampgas

Hi ag1969. Yeah, it looks like the gorilla is standing in front of a shower curtain until you look very closely and see its a bamboo forest. The coin is also in a baggie then in a vacuum sealed plastic and cardboard package then in an airtight capsule. I don't dare take it out. So I'll have to admire it through all these layers :)
And Wy So Lo: Thanks :)
I've received a tube of ten of the two-ounce "The Captain". The third version in Elemetal Mint's 'pirate series'. Very nice. Love the high-relief and detail of Elemetal's two-ounce coins.
AARRGGHH me harties
Silver 1oz eagles on back order in ozzie available mid feb and they have still managed to sell 5 million so far this year ,,,$14.00 LMAO no need for gift wrapping ha ha
Shaping up to be a big year for the mints....
Fascinating article The concentration camp currency you’ve never heard of
I've been watching the price of Elemetal Mint's two-ounce coins and their limited production numbers for some time now. Here's what I'm seeing:
The "Privateer" pirate series coin had a limited production of around 70,000 coins. It's price was $42 or so when it was introduced. A month or two after production was terminated it's price increased to $60-$65. Now, four months after the last coin was manufactured, the price at Apmex is now $79. Almost double it's original price. Provident has had none to sell for months. Here's the coin:
The second coin in the pirate series, the Siren, had a limited production run of about 62,000. It has now also been discontinued. It's original price was also around $42. Apmex is now selling them for $54 and, again, Provident has none to sell. Here's the coin:
The 'American Landmark Series' Liberty Island coin had a limited production run of about 25,000 which has now also ended. It too started at $42 or so and is still at that price at Apmex. Again, Provident has none to sell and hasn't had any for some time now. Here's the coin:
The 'American Landmark series' Grand Canyon coin has a limited production of about 18,000. Production will end in August. It's price is $38 at Provident and $41 at Apmex. Here's the coin:
It seems fairly obvious that all of Elemetal's two-ounce coins will eventually have a limited production. They haven't published any production numbers for "The Captain" or "Cleopatra" but I'm betting they will. I don't know where the prices of any of these are going, but so far it's only been UP. I'm betting on that too. I just ordered six of the "Sirens" for $44.50 each (a good price considering Apmex wants $54) and two of the "Grand Canyons" at $39 each. I'll be concentrating on getting more "Liberty Islands" next.
So, Hammer, that's what I've been up to (since you asked) :)
Happy shopping there. I dipped a toe in last week for this (mintage 1,000 and the first ever one with a "C" on it for Canberra)
It comes from canberra i would have it checked ;)
Not much stacking for the 69's in January. A little short on funds. But, I did get my obligatory 2016 ASE's, and the 2016 Wedge tailed Eagle.
ASE's bore the living heck out of me, but I still by a tube or two every year because I feel like I should. Booorrrrring! But that Wedge tailed eagle is pretty nice. Come spring, I will start completing all of my "sets" like the stockhorse. I still have not seen anything on the 2016 design.
I did however notice that Perth is coming out with a "Five Blessings" coin in 2016. I might consider this to put with Canada Five Blessings coins that I have:
And here is a coin that Acmachat would probably love if it was not for that pesky reeded edge:
Buy the Chinese Ancient Mythical Creatures 2016 1oz Silver Proof High Relief Coin from The Perth Mint, featuring:
I had to order the Chinese Ancient Mythical Creatures. It cost me $83.53 with the outrageous shipping fee, but it is cool. Will post pictures when I get it.
I don't even need to post photos
Being an architect and coming from the designing world, it's not so much the reeded edge that looks off, but more the fact that they thought it would look good to write "CHINESE ANCIENT MYTHICAL CREATURES" on it. (instead of on the certificate or some other pamphlet etc.)
I seriously want to meet the designer who thought that this would be the right thing to do. (To be honest, I think the designer is angry because that text was put on afterwards by the mint).
Otherwise it would have been a well designed coin.
How have you been
Been busy with work... I guess that's a good thing.
But I haven't missed a single line of what goes on here :-)
