Rising Indian gold imports no cause for alarm

NEW DELHI: The government today said rising amount of gold imports is no cause for an "alarm" and action will be taken at an appropriate time.

Gold imports in March nearly doubled to USD 4.98 billion, while in January and February, it rose to USD 1.55 billion and USD 1.98 billion, respectively.

"The (gold) imports have surged in February and March. We will keep a watch. I think that we do not have to be alarmist and see whatever action is required at an appropriate time," Commerce Secretary Rajeev Kher told reporters here.

Is China-Pakistan 'silk road'

Is China-Pakistan 'silk road' a game-changer?

The money China is planning to pour into Pakistan is more than twice the amount of all foreign direct investment (FDI) Pakistan has received since 2008, and considerably more than the entire assistance from the United States, Pakistan's largest donor until now, since 2002.

....................

Also, this investment will be heavily concentrated in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a combination of transport and energy projects and the development of a major deep-sea port offering direct access to the Indian Ocean and beyond.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-32400091

There are indications the Americans have been encouraging China to play a stabilising role in Afghanistan. And few in Pakistan believe that American influence is likely to significantly recede from this region in the short run.

Spoofing in an Algorithmic Ecosystem

https://rajivsethi.blogspot.com/2015/04/spoofing-in-algorithmic-ecosystem.html

“What is strange about this case is the fact that spoofing of this kind is, to quote one market observer, as common as oxygen. It is frequently used and defended against within the high frequency trading community. So why was Sarao singled out for prosecution? I suspect that it was because his was a relatively small account, using a simple and fairly transparent strategy. Larger firms that combine multiple strategies with continually evolving algorithms will not display so clear a signature. “ Rajiv Sethi

Putin calls on Hollande to mend ties to help trade

President Vladimir Putin on Friday called on French leader Francois Hollande to restore ties after a year of tensions over Ukraine as the two leaders met on the sidelines of genocide commemorations in Armenia.

"Unfortunately, our ties are not in the best shape, trade turnover is falling including with France which only causes regret," Putin told Hollande in the Armenian capital Yerevan.

"I believe that we have to look for ways to restore our ties and I believe that it's in everyone's interest," he said, signalling Kremlin's desire to break out of international isolation.

Hollande for his part called on Putin to "move forward" with implementing the Ukraine peace accords struck in February.

"The best way to overcome what has hindered us would be to move forward with the application of the Minsk agreement."

China, US Treasury Bonds & Gold

Two very well written blog articles on the timing and relationships with China trade surplus, treasury purchases/recycling, and gold implications. Enjoy!

It puts Aug/Sep 2011, the height of the gold price, into a peculiar perspective.

Of course on the other hand there is always the possibility that not all herein are actually Homosapiens, and might actually be one of those Reptilians we hear so much about. wink

I was going to ask Abguy to investigate but thought the better of it since he was going out of town, giving us another opportunity to take Ol Zippo out of the garage again for some fun this weekendlaugh

A day in the life of ole Rex

Rex is wandering aimlessly in the lobby of the Leader Hotel when he accidently elbows a wealthy old widow in the breast.
They are both quite startled.
Rex turns to her and in his usual effeminate yet charming manner and says, 'Ma'am, if your heart is as soft as your breast, I know you'll forgive me.'
She replies, 'If your dick is as hard as your elbow, I'm in room 221.' post-6001-0-28986000-1395519968.gif

Another day in the life of ole Rex

In Rex's pre - Marines days Rex worked in a pickle factory.
He had been employed there for a number of years when he came home one day to confess to his wife that he had a terrible compulsion.
He had an urge to stick his appendage in the pickle slicer.
His wife suggested that he should see a therapist to talk about it, but Rex said he would be too embarrassed. He vowed to overcome the compulsion on his own.
One day a few weeks later, Rex came home and his wife could see at once that something was seriously wrong.
'What's wrong, Rex?' she asked.
'Do you remember that I told you how I had this tremendous urge to put my appendage into the pickle slicer?'
'Oh, Rex, you didn't' she exclaimed.
'Yes, I did.' he replied.
'My God, Rex, what happened?'
'I got fired.'
'No, Rex. I mean, what happened with the pickle slicer?'
'Oh...she got fired too.' post-6001-0-28986000-1395519968.gif

@ Atarangi...

An Australian ventriloquist is visiting New Zealand and while on a walkabout he happened to come across Atarangi out with his dog tending some sheep, so the Aussie figures he'll have a little fun.

Ventriloquist: "G'day bloke! Good looking dog, mate. Mind if I speak to him?"

Atarangi: "The dog doesn't talk, you stupid Aussie."

Ventriloquist: "Hey dog, how's it going old mate?"

Dog: "Doin' alright."

Atarangi gets a look of extreme shock on his face.

Ventriloquist: "Is this Kiwi your owner?", pointing at Atarangi

Dog: "Yep."

Ventriloquist: "How does he treat you?"

Dog: "Real good. He walks me twice a day, feeds me great food, and takes me to the lake once a week to play."

Ventriloquist then turns to Atarangi and asks: "Mind if I talk to your sheep?"

To which Atarangi replied, "The sheep are all liars."

laugh

Atarangi was visiting with an Aussie friend, and they were sitting around talking one afternoon over a cold beer.

After a while Atarangi asks his Aussie friend, "If I was to sneak over to your house while you were off fishing, and made wild passionate love to your wife and she got pregnant and had a baby, would that make us related?"

The Aussie crooked his head sideways for a minute, scratched his head, and squinted his eyes thinking real hard about the question.
Finally, he says, "Well, I don't know about related, but it sure would make us even."

laugh

BTW, did any of you know that Atarangi has a thousand lovers?

surprise

Of course the same could be said of nearly every other Kiwi shepherd for that matter.
