Paging Dr. C

Just a quick note to follow up on something we discussed last week.

https://www.tfmetalsreport.com/blog/1172/chartdaddy

If you haven't noticed, DrC is kickin ass and takin names. Up over 2% today alone and it has crossed a very important technical barrier. IF it can consolidate and hang here...and I think it will...it looks to be breaking out and rolling higher at almost exactly the same time as last year. Here, see for yourself:

paper_7-7pmcopd.jpgpaper_7-7pmcopw.jpg

So, why is this important? As mentioned in the post from last week, copper has a track record as a leading indicator of future PM price. While copper rallied about 45% in the time period listed above, gold and silver had huge gains, too. From 8/1/10 to 1/1/11, gold rallied about 22%. In the same timeframe, silver rallied over 70%!

Similar performance in the remaining months of this year would take copper to nearly 600, gold to 1850 and silver to 62.

In summary, watch ole DrC very closely in the coming days and weeks. If it starts moving out to new highs above 465, it will be just another surefire indicator that the next UP move in the PMs will be explosive and amazing.  TF

O'Bummer Would Try To Do This

This is a quote from the recent James Turk Interview on kingworldnews.com

"When they start QE3, the Us dollar index will plunge to new lows. Gold will also be at a record high by then as well. The scary thing is they are going to shove through this debt limit increase one way or another. If there is an impasse in Congress with Tea Party Republicans holding the line, word has come from Washington that President Obama will use the 14th amendment to declare the debt limit as unconstitutional. By removing this last piece of discipline, that will open the floodgates and will be the tipping point to send the dollar into oblivion and gold and silver into the stratosphere.”

DPH comment: That's a sickening thought regarding the 14th amendment but seems entirely plausible given our situation and the current element that now inhabits Washington DC and masquerades as our leadership. We all know this will come down to a last minute deal or a extension at the deadline and then just ram something through that hopefully they will have read first.

IMO, Obama(Spock) has this thing with "fair' and how everything (the constitution?) was constructed to work against the most vulnerable people because it was blah blah blah etc. He'll have his reasons.

Listen, Obama is all about class warfare from a historical stance and was a constitutional professor at one point. If he goes the route that Turk outlines, O'Bummer's ego will force him to use his academic superiority on the constitution to state his case. I can easily see that happening from this Administration and his ego. They are trying real hard to fundementally steer this country into a totally different direction where the nanny state controls everything, including prices and wages. I believe that's what they are ultimately after if unemployment will never get to acceptable levels again. Competiton for jobs will cause wages to fall and a lack of stable, good paying jobs will cause people to settle for less and they will have less to pay for ever increasingly expensve goods and thats when the Nanny steps in tocontrol and fix prices and wages. More fairness.

You see, in their liberal world, they are always right and they will correct whats not fair and the rest of us just don't understand the error of our ways in letting a 200 year old document rule us. You better believe that a Constitutional lawyer and professor would be the one person in this country who would love to change what they have studied for so long and have very strong beliefs and opinions on.

Now, does anyone still think that O'bama wouldn't be the one person who would attempt this at a historic point in our countries fiscal future during a time of crisis?

Obama is but a tool

@DPH:

I read most all of your posts, and enjoy them all.  Let me weigh in on your latest.

As for the debt ceiling issue, I am no wizard of oz with magic prediction powers.  But, I can assure you, that there is not going to be a debt ceiling impasse. How do I know?  This is how:

(1) It is unfathomable that the worlds reserve currency, the hegemonic currency with all its attendant power, will suddenly lose its status when several elected congress critters decide to hijack the issue for political gain.  None of the republican congressmen got there on a debt reduction, balanced-budget platform.  They got there because the center-right electorate did not like the way Obama was veering WAY to far and fast to the left.  So, their mission is simple: to stay in power, by placating their base.

It is completely beyond absurd to believe the outcome can be any differently.  Let me say it another way.  If several powerful congressmen or woman are using the debt ceiling for leverage, then it is simple politics for TPTB to give those few congressmen what they want, either money, power, or whatnot, to then allow them to save face with their constituents, and gain reelection.  Thus, they will, indeed, vote to raise the ceiling.  The consequences are just too dire for TPTB otherwise, and they will never risk it.  Never forget that all of the powerful congressmen have weaknesses.  Ask Anthony Weiner what happens when he becomes expendable.  Any congressman who steps too far out of line gets special attention for their insubordination.  Just ask Vince Foster.  Oh wait, bad idea.  No, I know, ask JFK.  Oops, bad idea again.  You get the picture.

(2) There is NO WAY TPTB will risk a constitutional crisis with this current Supreme Court makeup.  It is far too uncertain the outcome, so as a result, since TPTB cannot control the outcome, they will not risk it at all.  Obama will do no such thing, I guarantee it.  If you want perspective on a real constitutional crisis, think back to the Nixon era.  There was a crisis for sure.  It did reach the courts, and there was a Supreme Court opinion regarding Executive branch power.  I forget the name of the case, but it was a very scary moment from a Constitutional perspective.  Ask yourself why there have been no recent Constitutional amendments?  The reason is the outcome is not guaranteed, and TPTB cannot risk changing the status quo.

(3) Barry is no Constitutional scholar, despite his claim to have been a Constitutional professor.  Any second year law student will easily outdo Barry on any Constitutional question.  If Barry is so smart, then how come he failed the Constitutional question regarding his health care plan?  How could he ever think the Commerce Clause allows the government to FORCE someone to buy health insurance?  There is no precedence for that at all, and Barry knows it.  The real issue is BECAUSE he knows the limitation of the power of his office, and that of Congress, they why is he nonetheless still stridently veering far away from the strict limitations of the Constitution?  Easy: he is a leftist, and his handlers are using him to advance their own power grab.  So . . .

(4) What keeps TPTB in power? The raising of the debt ceiling, and QE to infinity.  It is happening as we speak.

Remember how I promised that Barry would give handouts to the electorate in a desperate attempt to get reelected? Sure enough, two days after I posted, Barry announced his home mortgage payment suspension plan.  Am I a genius or what?

So, look for political theatre, with the congressmen and Barry each staking out a position.  It will get fun to watch, it will come down to the wire, but a deal will be done.  Mark my words: taxes will be raised, and some programs will be cut.  There will be no balanced budget requirement.  The whole "reduction" thing is illusory, as it will all be based on phantom revenue anyway, which is another way of saying that the new deal will anticipate several trillion in new revenues (taxes), but such revenues will never materialize, thus keeping the structural budget deficit intact, and guaranteeing QE to the moon.

Silver to $65 before Christmas, 2011.  Count on it.

GOLD FRANC

The best news I've seen all day!

ZURICH (MarketWatch) — The Swiss Parliament is expected later this year to discuss the creation of a gold franc — a parallel currency to the official Swiss franc, with the fringe initiative likely triggering a broader debate about the role of the precious metal in the Alpine nation.

Mandates

@California Lawyer

There are examples of things mandated upon the citizens in our society, "for the society to be fully functioning." Jury duty is one such example. And it has been deemed necessary for the function of our justice system. Historically there have been other examples, and they have all been deemed constitutional. I wouldn't bet the farm that the top court is going to overturn the healthcare law.

DarkPurpleHaze,

Obama was a lecturer, not a professor.  Further, his knowledge of the Constitution is flawed in so many ways I won't go into them.
Look into O's past and you find nothing of substance and a lot of redacted info.  The man is truly the Manchurian Candidate.
If he does invoke the 14th, there is an impeachment waiting for him right after he speaks the words.

You say sin is not a bad thing

Eric,

Sin is bad no matter where it is. It is like a cancer that eats at you until death. I know, I've been there. Psalm 53:1 says, The fool has said in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity; there is none who does good.

There is a moral decay in this country as it has been shown with the EE. There will be a day we will all be held accountable. Be prepared, ask God for help.

Debt Ceiling

A debt ceiling agreement just gives us more time to prepare...and maybe sneak in a vacation or two.

Gold has to be raided here but what do I know.

prostitution, gambling, and drunkenness

I agree sin can be fun, but the consequences is deadly.

There is no humor in the destruction of a person's life (ie. spouse, family, work). A life of destruction can be turned around for the lifeline that's available to all.

Why do you think we are all uniting in fighting the Evil Empire in this blog? The EE is on the road to destruction because we know they are doing wrong. We are preparing to prosper/maintain in the days ahead because we know the truth will be made known.

I'm telling our friends and people in our church to buy physical gold and silver and have it in hand. God must be first, material things come second, otherwise we could look and act just like the EE.

I hear ya Eric but don't be blinded by the evil in this world.

"prostitution, gambling, and drunkenness"

i prefer to see it as sick and worthy of pity and distaste rather than sinful and worthy of judgement and condemnation.  just a difference in opinion, but i feel more comfortable that way.

i am reminded of a line you may have heard, "judge not lest ye be judged."

"judge not lest ye be judged."

Treefrog, One day we will all come before the Judge and give account for the things we have done. You have been given a conscious to know the difference between right from wrong. If you break the law there are consequences for your actions. If you do right, you be rewarded. I am discerning between right and wrong rather than being harshly judgmental.
