The Global Reach of The New Cold War

This week's update from Batchelor and Cohen.

Wed, Jul 24, 2019 - 3:44pm

Batchelor and Cohen returned last evening with a very interesting discussion. With John on the ground in Tokyo, news broke of the near confrontation between Japanese and Korean jets and Russian bombers. This provided an intriguing backdrop for this week's discussion on the New Cold War.

If you missed the headlines yesterday, here a few to review:

John and Steve begin the show with a discussion of these near-hostilities and then the conversation turns to Ukraine where, amazingly, the news is actually improving. Here's an article Professor Cohen recently posted to The Nation:

As we've been asking for the past five and a half years, please try to listen to these podcasts each week. They are your only source of fair, balanced and objective analysis regarding the New Cold War.

Forest Gump's mama was only half correct:

Forrest Gump - "Life is like a box of chocolate"

After watching the different chocolates speak in congress today, we know exactly where this nation is headed. I also have a long term view and a multitude will not survive, even if gold is $50,000/oz. >>> jmo

after listening to some of the testimony today, I wish I had bought silver sooner and a hell of a lot more of it.

"Servant of the People "

Zelensky is an actor. Trump was an actor. Reagan was an actor. They all serve the people alright. May as well vote for Reagan's chimp.

Sprott is looking for a silver miner. He never mentions First Magestic Silver Corp, yet my AG options have gone up much more than the small gold miners Sprott talks about—- Kerr, Excellon, etc. Since I hold Sprott in a special category of respect, my comment isn’t criticism, but wonder.

He may be right in the longer run, but for now I am loving AG.

I bought a bunch of Jan AG / $12.00 strike - doing good :-). Hoping we see silver in the 20's by then. not sure if those shorts in AG are out - hope not yet :-) - would love a fat squeeze!!

Incident between Japanese / Korean and Russian / Chinese Planes

At the time I heard something about this reported on a TV news program here in Switzerland (not sure now if it was a Swiss or German report). All very confusing and hard to make out its importance.

Looking at the three articles above it now looks like it was 'merely' a Russian / Chinese air patrol flying BETWEEN Korea and Japan that entered an Air Defense Zone CLAIMED by Korea but not recognised by Russia or even Japan. One must wonder why the Koreans are apparently over-reacting?

IMO one possibility is that these Russian / Chinese plane air patrols are the equivalent of the US's naval patrols through the South China Sea?
And that the Koreans are doing Washington's dirty work to either stoke cold war hostilities or try to stop any such further Russian / Chinese patrols.

This look like something that will be flaring up again in the near future.
