The updated TFMR is up and running!

As you've no doubt noticed, the revamped TFMR is a complex beast. There are all sorts of updates and added capabilities and this will make the experience for all of us here even better.

The old site was built on a Drupal platform in 2011 and a lot has changed over the years as technology has surged forward. Think of trying to use your 2011 Blackberry to access all of 2018's apps and websites. Going forward, our new site will eliminate the issues we've had with Apple products. It was also end the frustrating cycle of forced logins/logouts. It also has complete mobile capability. And a whole bunch more new stuff that I don't even know about yet.

So, thank you for your patience as we work out the bugs and get acquainted with everything. New and improved can sometimes feel frustrating and unnecessary, however, in this case, it was completely necessary and worthwhile.

As you know, I'm away from Turdfork this weekend as MrsF and I are visiting LT#1 at college. (And boy-oh-boy do I have a raging headache today from too many beers at the local Oktoberfest last evening!) I had promised everyone a podcast this morning but, frankly, I don't know yet how to post one! So, just this quick update.

In Comex gold, It was great to see price close at $1230 yesterday. That's another GREEN weekly candle and maintaining above $1200 and $1220 is very important in terms of a bullish/hopeful chart configuration. For next week, the goal remains a close above the 100-day moving average and then $1240 as this will engender even more Spec short-covering.

And as you can see on the gold CoT below, a MASSIVE move in Spec short-covering already took place back on Thursday the 11th when price surged through the 50-day and ended up $34 on the day. We'll discuss this more on Monday.

In Comex silver, that reverse H&S we've been discussing continue to trace out. On the weekly chart, getting back above and staying back above $14.50 is seemingly an important development. As expected, the move in the silver CoT wasn't nearly as dramatic as it was in gold.

Again, thank you for your patience as we get restarted and Ron and his team work out any kinks that suddenly appear. Have a great weekend and I look forward to next week.

It seems we can't copy and paste pictures and the new format is links only. Did the pictures of each profile come over to the new site? If not do we have to open up a program so that we have to store our pictures on? Keep Stacking

Welcome to the party, Charlie

Welcome to the party, Charlie! (Picture confetti, balloons, and the drink of your choice EVERYWHERE in this post).

Stacking will cease when the "exchange rate" (not price, just to make ss121 happy), is less favorable.

Where is that sage, anyway?

Getting back in to responding

Getting back in to responding to some posts... for the two people who reported that they muted their own account, this has been fixed. We also pushed a patch that blocks a user from muting themselves.

If anyone else has muted themselves, let us know and we'll get it removed.

Per the questions about names being displayed on comments, please reference my earlier post on how to edit or remove:

(PS: Patricia I already removed yours from the account and will show as updated shortly.)

I'm with Charley on the white

I'm with Charley on the white background. I used to be able to browse this site for hours. Now it makes me cross eyed and blurry in minutes.

"so much white it hurts my eyes"

As I've commented, all of those things are customizable in the platform we have built. If Craig wants to change it to off-white, he can do so. If he wants to change it to green, he can do that too.

Also I really recommend this app for everyone. I use it and it's awesome. Automatically adjusts your monitor brightness depending on time of the day.

I just want to point out that

I just want to point out that it was made known to the users here at TFMR long ago that, if they did not want their name to be displayed in the upgraded version, that they needed to go into their profile on the old site and make sure that THEY had not already entered the info in there themselves.

Also, some of you people should check yourselves. This thing has just been launched. I'm no techno geek, but it SOUNDS like it's not as easy as flipping a light switch. And so you should probably chill out and give Craig and his IT team some frickin slack while they work this all out. I'm sure this is a growing, living "thing", and it will change over time, usually so that it can improve.

I realize that WE are Craig's customers, but that doesn't mean that we should all just hop on here and bitch like a bunch of children. Some of the comments that I have seen seem very critical of some things that MAY be the fault of the user themselves in that they may not understand WTF they are talking about, or they can't find what they want to this fricking instance.

So, all that said, chill the hell out and take the time to learn the site before piling on. It's just a freaking websi..... ummmm, PLATFORM after all. If you don't like it, turn off your device and go read a damn book (the kind made out of paper and glue).

Thank you again Craig for the forum, and thank you Ron for your restraint and professionalism in answering some of these questions.

"It would be helpful to have

- a subject matter heading for comments

- a review facility for a post before actually posting like the old site.

- the number of posts at the top of each page

- the number of unread posts at the top of each page and 'new' posts marked like the old system which makes it easy to find the posts that are unread.

- to have Turd's posts in a different colour background.

What does 'body' and 'p' mean at the bottom of the draft box for new posts?"

Addressed about subjects on comments here: https://www.tfmetalsreport.com/comment/683802#comment-683802

For previewing comments, a few comments:

  • We've *really* tried hard to make the editor display be as accurate as possible. We want it to be "what-you-see-is-what-you-get". If we haven't accomplished that, we need to know so we can improve the experience.
  • We don't want people to overthink the process of commenting. I don't know any sites that use a preview function these days for commenting. Once again, I want us to perfect the editor so what you see is how it will look when posted.

You said "number of posts at the top of each page." That is listed at the top of each page? See the little comment icon next to the "by Turd Ferguson." If you're referring to something else, let me know.

Refer to my comments here about unread comments: https://www.tfmetalsreport.com/comment/683791#comment-683791

Turd's posts are in a different color. Just instead of displaying the entire background a different color, his username is displayed in gold. Only site admins have this feature. Having the entire post be a different color would need to be a question for Craig.

Good question on the "body" and "p" links at the bottom of the editor. These are different HTML tags, and will display which tag your cursor is currently in. If you click the "p" (stands for "paragraph"), it will highlight the entire current paragraph so you can easily copy, delete, etc.

If you click the "body" (the entire text is the "comment body"), it will highlight everything you've written. Other ones you will see include:

  • "ul" for an unordered list (a list with bullet points)
  • "ol" for an ordered list (a list with numbers)
  • "li" for a list item (a single item in a list)

"Tried to "paste" an article and it says press x+p! Where is and what is that?"

I'm not seeing that... have been able to paste into comments without any issue. Do you have a screen shot that you can display? What browser are you using?
