You made it Turd! After all the last five years brought, you and the site not only survived, you thrived!!! Congratulations on a major achievement, and on your hard-earned success. Thanks for letting all of us come along for the ride...

As promised, here is the celebratory poster including (I really hope) all those who stated a desire to be on it, during last night and the overnight thread. When you get a chance, pop open a cold one and raise a glass our hardworking and fearless leader, to the great company and good people we have found at this place, and to all of you hearty souls- you've just survived a BRUTAL 4.5 year bear market in the metals that would have driven off lesser souls (and did, in many cases!) Yet the cream rises to the top. Good on ya, Turdville.

If you are so inclined, share a favorite TFMR story or two when you get a chance, in the comments section. Favorite stories? Worst day? Funniest thing you saw here? Most memorable post?

Happy Birthday TFMR!

Oh my goodness!!

Ferd is spilling all the beans, telling the tales, dropping the secrets! I deny everything, it's all lies, I tell you! LIES! ...though it is pretty hilarious, and I am looking forward to part 2!

And Cal, all I can say is that I am truly proud to have met you through this site and to consider myself your friend- you are a true gentleman and a warrior. You are far too kind in your opinion of me, but other than that you are an impressive fellow. Thanks for being here.

I'm a pretty simple American housewife who happened to stumble into gold and silver around the time the old site started. I remember a very sweet Ginger to my Maryann and I think she and I along with XTY were among the first here of the female persuasion. I just didn't contribute too much as I was overwhelmed by the intellect here (and still am) even though I have an advanced degree. Probably makes it worse!

Anyway, one day that I did decide to contribute I was so excited to see TF's Scripture reference at the bottom of the page and I impulsively posted the whole passage. I was pretty mortified to discover hours later that that had derailed the thread for pretty much the whole day. Suffice it to say that there was not a lot of appreciation for Luke. At any rate, I am glad that there is more grace and respect here now and TF graciously provided us with Thread of Faith and a couple of other forums such as the fantastic one by our friend Jeremiah Jr. Thank you to a host who knows the Giver of gold and silver.

P4F !!

I really wasn't hurt, insulted or anything negative. I was just beatin' my gums and that was my excuse to sound off with my congrats to Turd . You could NEVER offend me buddy. We've been friends far too long for that. Health and happiness to you Mr Pining.

Awesome work Pining, Thank You!

My favorite memory was at the beginning. Memories, actually, I should say.

I remember the goofy watchtower site, with the library books along the side. I remember the captcha, and the tradition of saying last, or new post.

I remember XTC, and her getting picked on mercilessly, and how she up and stormed off. I wish she was still here.

I remember several original members, who will not be named, who became shameless agitators of our host Mr. TF. I do not miss them at all, but I still do have two cases of canned bacon.

I remember asking in an open post, "Why Silver?" Or something like that, when I was trying to get my head around why buying silver bullion was a good idea, instead of some stocks, or real estate. I also remember wondering why and asking why it was better to buy silver than gold.

I remember getting tremendous feedback, and wondering aloud why some stranger would take the time to give me sound advice, for free, and be polite and respectable about it.

I remember someone criticizing me for being a lawyer, trashing me with bad lawyer jokes, what not. And I remember how I refused to engage back, and create a divisive, distraction from the main point of the thread, as I realized that my time need not be wasted defending myself on an anonymous Internet forum. I realized that there and then I would simply speak out, politely, with logic and reason, with as much caring, compassion and understanding I could muster, to help contribute to this site, as I truly appreciated -- and still do -- the brilliant writing and insights of our host.

And, I remember seeing that damn funny avatar of the parrot, all sideways and dead, laughing about what kind of person would have THAT as an avatar. Then I remember seeing tons of posts by that same genius, who has an inimitable wit, intellect beyond compare, and is a nice guy to boot! When I met him in person, I had on my big yellow hat that Mr. TF was so gracious to provide me.

And I remember buying the monster boxes at $36-40 an ounce, PLUS a HUGE premium. Ouch.

But, I have dollar-cost-averaged into position, and since then, between gold and silver, and the peace of mind I have now, the journey has been truly priceless!

Here's to another five years Mr. TF!

p.s. Craig, I managed to bring my handicap down to a 16. Anytime you want to scare up a nice round at the Red Hill, please just let me know.

I just stumbled accross this thread

Jumpin jiminey Pining, that's a heck of a nice pic of Benque in a hot aeroplane, with a gorgeous girl. I love it.

I'll be doing Immelmann turns over your house, and over Turd's house, in celebration and thanks for all the fine work you both do. Happy birthday TFMR and all the fine Turdites!!

Got to nail this bankster first...see y'all in a minute.

Congratulations on five years, TURDVILLE

May there be five more after this and may we all be solvent!

Jun 15, 2016 - 7:25pm

Thanks for that awesome poster, Pining

I miss the days when I had time to check in on the Speak... ReachWest's animated shorts + the classic Blythe & Ruprecht eloping to Caracas to wade knee deep... The sharing of stories, tips & experiences re: preparing on all fronts continues to this day, so no complaints. Shout out to Atlee & Gang, the Lantern, RaRa & Tabberto and all the other erstwhile companions on the journey.
