@Siefert - chartless

JS - allow me to answer that for SS121:

It would be better to sail the oceans without charts if the ones available - passed off as reliable - were in fact fake and surrpetitiously guided the innocent sailor onto jagged rocks.

Good Stuff!

Very well done Pining! Love it.

(I hope this gets spread around the PM blogs for a wide audience to see.)

Ra Ra

Let me echo Murphy's welcome! Have not been on the site as much as I used to be but had not seen you post in a while.

Seeing your avatar again reminds me of the layout Pining did of the gang in the old days of the Speakeasy.

I looked at the picture and asked "Where's Ra Ra?"

Someone pointed out that you were shown near me in the picture. I responded that I had mistaken your avatar for a lamp. That gave rise to a discussion of the leg lamp in the Christmas movie.

Wish Pining could post that picture here again for old time's sake.

Hope all is well in the UK.

For Ferd

I believe you mean this one.

Slow day at work keeping the electrons flowing. Ra Ra is 3 pictures under you, my old avatar is 4 under her. Lots of memories there.

Apr 30, 2016 - 12:29pm

Hey Ferd!

Here's a close up! Good times they were.

The Speak Expedition: My favorite parts of this are RaRa as a granite statue, and Tabberto's old avatar ruins worked into the scene.

Thanks, Saratoga Prepper

That's a good one that does bring back memories. Sad to see the avatars of the many we have lost over the years.

The one I was speaking of was a black and white layout with several characters seated at or around a table. I believe Ra Ra was at the far left.

Thanks, Murph

You are right. Good times. Can't forget any of these masterpieces. Wish I still had some of them.

Apr 30, 2016 - 12:47pm

@ Ferd-

I'll PM you soon. Here's another in the mean time.

All accolades go to the artist and top Turdite Pining !!

Three Amigos: When Ferd, GL, and Murph get together, there is not only going to be trouble, it is probably world-class trouble.

While we're at it

This was always one of my faves:

But my alltime #1 is the one where Pining made me into a carny. Unfortunately, I can't find it...

Aw hell

I hope Pining doesn't mind but why should only us old timers enjoy his old works. I think this compilation was from May 2012. Enjoy!

TFMR Artwork: part 1

Hat Tip!

Having reached the 500 post milestone, I thought I would celebrate by putting up some of my P-shops in a little "gallery showing", perhaps with a bit of commentary- Hope one or two of these gives you a laugh!

The Speak Expedition: My favorite parts of this are RaRa as a granite statue, and Tabberto's old avatar ruins worked into the scene.

My man SWS: He posted a very cool freestyle rhyme and I wanted to put it in a scene with his avatar.

Bankster Train: SilverWealth PM'ed me asking if I would enshrine the irony of the folks at Pailins trying to trade in the same direction as the Banksters (which was the meme at that time) with a photoshop.

The Speak Occupies the G-20 meetings:

Eric O: Having tried with only partial success to work Eric's avatar into several pictures, he sent me this photo of an old prospector, which I pictured with Viking helmet...

... Then I worked it into this wreck scene (a 'going down with the ship' metaphor for the miners at the time... not sure what this would be now, maybe just a smoking crater). Magpie, PA, and Tabberto also pictured.

Viva Nepal! : I learned TFMR was a shockingly large portion of the overall web traffic for the country of Nepal (one of the top 20 sites in the entire country, I think)- I thought this was very cool, so posted on it and threw this out on Main.

Cool Hand Turd: Was still learning to work in color rather than my favored B&W, and didn't get the skin tones right on this one... a transition piece for Pining!

Old Fart

Hat Tip!

I hadn't noticed their absence until right now but I consider it almost merciful

Congrats to Pining! Looking forward to the compilation of Pining Classics.

Just getting started for the day and it's my first post....only 499 to go

Awesome...just posted this and there it is right above me. Nice

TFMR Artwork: Part 2

Benjamin Bud: I sometimes get mad at certain public figures whom I perceive as actively working to ruin things, so I work through these feelings with my projects occasionally. I think this came after QE II... or was it Operation Twist? They all start to blur together.

Blythe as Honey Bunny in Pulp Fiction:

Bernanke's "stimulus": also ala Pulp Fiction:

Three Amigos: When Ferd, GL, and Murph get together, there is not only going to be trouble, it is probably world-class trouble.

Ferd Torgerson as hell-raising brawler in a wife beater: This is one of my all-time favorites. Ferd is one of the nicest people I have ever "met" (in the internet sense, anyway) - just great guy and a true gentleman with a world-class sense of humor. It really cracks me up to picture this exceptionally nice man as a drunken brawler, or a schemer, or engaged in some type of shady or criminal activity- makes me laugh every time. The fact that he is such a good sport makes it even more fun- He PM'ed me the wife-beater pick I used for this photo. You are the best, Ferd.

Welcome to Turdville: Cool Hand Luke is one of my favorite movies, and the bad-ass prison cop time is a strong image I have from that film. It was what came to mind when we had a discussion on main about stacking, being labelled "Hoarders", and perhaps someday being considered an enemy of the state. I was inspired, and this was the first time I had ever played with trying to get a reflection in glass- from a technical standpoint, this is one of the hardest things I have been able to pull-off.

Turd as Soothsayer: I admire and like the big guy quite a bit, and really appreciate what his efforts have built for us all, so he figures prominently in quite a few of my pics. I like the bottle of Jack, and imagine it might help some days.

Many thanks for the nice comments. I'd like to say you're perfect, also, but I can't. Because if you were perfect, you wouldn't have left out one of my all-time favorite pictures that you did last September.

You really add a lot to this site, not only in philosophical insight but also with your sense of humor and artistic talents.

Don't ever stop with the pictures, buddy. There are days when the trolls are out that you really make this place bearable.

The Charge: I have had more people comment on this pic to me, well after the fact, than anything else I have done. I guess it struck a chord. I love the cig in Keith's mouth, and Padme's old avatar floating above like a goddess of battle.

Turdite Protest: The building is 33 Liberty St, New York- the NY branch of the Federal Reserve.

Lost in a Tragic Boating Accident: I first heard that phrase over at ZeroHedge at least a couple of years ago, and I think I may have been the first to bring it here, in a post sometime last summer... it is not mine by any means, but I think I mentioned it a few time here and the meme took on a life of its own. This is my mental picture of what that might look like. I love Vernon Wormer looking like "No! You fool!"

The Cult of Turd: 'After a rise in the metals we band together to sing the sacred songs'... cracks me up!

White Whale: Also for SW, as he is very well-read and regularly makes literary allusions in his commentary. I thought he would enjoy this take on Melville, and he did!

The Pros at Pailins: I love golf, and thought Atlee and SW (who know the game) would appreciate this.

Nemesis: Ol' Blythe, she can't catch a break.

Chain Gang: No, I mean she REALLY can't catch a break. This is simple fantasy wish fulfillment on my part- I long for justice in an unjust world. (That sounded all artist-ey, didn't it? Better move quickly to something else!)

The "First" club: I have a great fondness for this little community, and I like the dumb things we do like proclaiming 'first'... it's a silly thing, but damn-it, it's OUR silly thing. This series struck a chord and people still mention it on occasion.

Mayor of Turdville: Dr. J was having a rough time and thinking about leaving... we convinced him to stay!

Speak Christmas: Was still working on my technique on this one so it is a bit rough, but I LOVE the idea of Turd as a drunken Santa Claus- makes me laugh!

Allocated: There are good guys and bad guys. We know who is who.

The Hangover: This is my all-time favorite, just because I love the vib of this one. Murphy once asked me how I got his avatar picture to look like this... I found a pic online and I knew immediately the dog was a perfect match. He thought it was actually HIS dog.

BOG: The one, the only!

Tabberto and Magpie and Kandinski: My foray into modern art...

Puppet Master: I really despise these people. All of them.

And last but not least, the one that started it all- my first effort for this site. I still love the noir feel of this one.

The Speak:

Ravages of Time

The trip down memory lane is awesome! These old image collages remind me of numerous Turdites from days gone by. Sad that so many of these folks have disappeared..

I would never have imagined, at that time, that we would be reminiscing over these images in 2016.

Very fun.

A pointed message wrapped in a wonderful poetic package. Unforgettable and much more fun to throw in the faces of manipulation deniers when that inevitable margin hike arrives.

Your friend,

The awesome people at TFMR

So great to see Dog, and Art Lomax, and RaRa, Murph, ReachWest, the incomparable Doc J, Saratoga Prepper, AE, Dynamo, Charlie, and all these old-school and new-school Turdites checking in... Swifty, Boomer Sooner, or Owtovit, to Arch Stanton, Infometron or SteveW, Angry Chef... Buncha' very special people here, no doubt about it. Old vets like Bollocks or LakeMike or the brilliant Argentus, my old friend MaryAnn... Thank you, friends. Far too many great people to count!

Looking over those old pics, it's funny how most of those with an axe to grind, or who were a bit too intense to survive a four year bear market, or those who were in it for fiat not ounces, have self-selected out or just drifted away. Most of those folks were good people, and I miss them. Some, not so much as it turned out... but that's part of life, and it's OK too. The ones who are left here now are the cream of the crop (or the hardiest weeds, I guess).

For the new batch coming in, there is always a warm welcome to a great community... checking in this morning, I was struck by this:

Welcome to Turdville! 60 hat tips from a welcoming community of good people who are happy you're here... that warms my heart! If you're someone just hanging around, please post a bit... you might have more to say than you think, and the more the merrier! If you are lurking, then buy a subscription and join the fun!

Hardiest of weeds I think; weeds usually have the most vitality with curatives and nutrition

Was feeling nostalgic for the Watchtower days recently, decided I could afford at least one month membership, what timing!

Like a surprise reunion; may our light shine on!!

@ Question

Nice to see you back again as well.

Bear with me on this one as we travel down the rabbit hole. I came across the first two links while listening to the next to last one which was an interview with Bill Holter. He's certainly one who portends a scary financial collapse is in store. I sure hope he's wrong but just in case....... better have some insurance.

The people/entities that run the world plan in advance. Ten, twenty, thirty, even fifty years in the future. They are masters of the long game. How about this one?

Lastly, here's an unrelated interview about metals. There was one thing that set off a light bulb in my addled brain in this one. Isn't it possible that the Bullion Banks are moving into miners since the HUI was 100? Are they legging in slowly (for them), at the same time that their short positions for future metals prices are at an all time high? As the miners rise they will be lowering their short futures. Once they get positioned where they want to be, they drop them more and really let the miners fly.

Just askin' ?

Hola boys!

Hey Murph, Ferd & Pining :)

Long time no speak strangers! Been checking in and lurking and so nice to see some old names on this thread. Makes me remember the days in the Speak *nostalgic sigh* All is good here - big changes afoot with a move to the southern hemisphere in the planning. Time to move to a country where they appreciate and mine the metals as I continue to stack ;)

Big love from Blighty
