Today at TFMR

Wed, Aug 14, 2013 - 3:29pm

You've probably noticed that there's a lot going on today.

First of all, Turd's Vault is finally up and running. If you want to subscribe you can do so here:

As a member, you'll continue to get daily information as well as the daily summary podcasts and the Access2Access presentations. Of course, you don't have to subscribe. Nothing else about the site is going to be changing. The forums such as Pailin's Corner and Argentus' Big Trade are still free for all to read and participate. There will also continue to be at least one, primary thread each day on "Main Street". There you'll be able to interact and post helpful information, just like you always have. The only difference is that the author of the thread will be Pining or JY or one of the other four contributors. That's it. It's pretty simple, really, and it is my sincere hope that none of this disrupts the general flow of the site. If it does, we'll make further changes to liven things up even more.

The other thing I need to address is the Private Message email that was sent earlier today. In a strange coincidence, the same day I open this new service, I get an email from a disgruntled Turdite threatening to "out" my real identity in order to cast me as some kind of hypocrite. As you might imagine, I'm not going to allow the PM system I built into my site with my own money to be used to against me. Therefore, not surprisingly, the list of banned members has grown to seven.

But here's the funny thing...When have I ever been dishonest with you or otherwise tried to convince you I'm something I'm not. Go back to the old Watchtower site or click the "about" tab in the nav bar above. I'm a "serial entrepreneur who retired from the securities industry in 2008". That's absolutely true. My first attempt at starting a business involved the failed launch of an online immediate annuity sales site. Let me emphasize FAILED because I opened it in March of 2009 and closed it about a year later. (If you want to see what $200,000+ and a bunch of sleepless nights and stress will get you, click here: I foolishly thought that you could sell immediate annuities online just like term life insurance. Oops. It didn't help that I attempted to do this in 2009, right after The Great Financial Crisis, when nobody was going to trust their life savings to an insurance company. failed and it was during this time that I became active at ZeroHedge and the rest is, as they say, history. The buyapension site is still hosted by the company that built it and the only reason you can view it is because I'm hoping against hope that someday, someone will come along and buy it or the domain name. It's not like I sit here and spend the entire day running TFMR and then sell annuities at night. Just typing that makes me chuckle.

So, if all of this makes you want to leave this site and never return, so be it. Ricky Nelson taught me a long time ago that "you can't please everyone so you got to please yourself". IF:

  • Having started a business in 2009 that failed in 2010 makes me a hypocrite...well, not much I can do about that.
  • If having MrsF own a self-serve frozen yogurt store makes me a hypocrite, well, not much I can do about that, either.
  • If trying to turn TFMR into a more self-sustaining money maker that compensates me for my time and effort makes me a hypocrite, then so be it.
  • If buying the occasional gold option makes me a hypocrite, what can I say?
  • If NOT living in the woods, unplugged from society, collecting guns, ammo and silver makes me a hypocrite, it is what it is.

IF, instead, you wish to continue along on this journey with me, I look forward to seeing you back here tomorrow, even if you're not a subscriber. And if you really want to piss off the two ex-Turdites who started all of this today, take the passive-aggressive route and sign up for the nominal $10/month. It'll be worth it!

still and always,

Not sure if the rally if the rally in metals is tied to your website changes or not, but it sure is nice.

Aug 14, 2013 - 3:46pm

It still pisses me off

Was a great idea. Terrible timing. And extremely expensive to get off the ground. Needed more money than I had.

Aug 14, 2013 - 3:46pm

Don't sweat it TF

Haters will always hate and winners just keep moving forward like a plow.

Good luck!

More Jim Willie.

Don't know where is the best place to post this, since the Jim Willie podcast is buried in last weeks news now. Anyway - Jim was on TruNews with Rick Wiles yesterday. You can listen/download here: .

Good luck with the new model Turd.
Add value to universe, and you will be compensated.

I sure hope the vault comments still show up in /comments/recent though; My favorite up-to-date news source.

I used to work at the Danish Food Centre

just wanted to get that out there. And I wore a hair net and hideous checkered outfit.

edit to add: was called up to the office one day, and figured I was in trouble for something, and they told me they wanted to train me for management ... I panicked and quit.

The ...

overnight might be very interesting.

Congrats on the New Format

Turd: Once again, thanks for all you do and the great online resource you have built.

I got that PM this morning and immediately said to myself, 'so what!'. Nothing about that makes Turd a hypocrite - nada.

I am also a serial entrepreneur and (much to my wife's chagrin) have made and lost fortunes a couple of times. So .. I can feel the Turd's pain. It's not easy to fail. It's damned tough - both emotionally and financially - but as Pining's recent post explains, it's a necessary part of a real unmanipulated economy and it's what turns those of us that stay in the game into strong contenders.

Stay strong, Turd - and - congratulations on the launch of this new site format.

Will there be a PayPal option?

For me, the decision whether or not to subscribe today was easy. I don't have a credit card...

Any idea on if/when there will be a PayPal option?

Aug 14, 2013 - 4:02pm

Sorry about that

I need to figure that out.

I'll consult the Tech Team and get back to you.

Thanks for your patience.

Aug 14, 2013 - 4:02pm

And now you wear a pirates hat.....

Aug 14, 2013 - 4:04pm

Whoa, Whoa, there man in the yellow hat

WTF do you mean "If NOT living in the woods, unplugged from society, collecting guns, ammo and silver makes me a hypocrite"

No SILVER!!!!!!!!!???????? Say it aint so!! Did you have a boating accident on the way to yogurt shoppe? Hey that could be a new flavor, silvogurt? Then again maybe not!

In all seriousness, don't worry about it, your aces in my book. And to use a very Urban slang, haters gonna hate :) Anytime people observe others doing well they attempt to bring them down!

One question..

Turd, If we are set up as regular supporters with monthly donations does that donation parlay into a gold vault access?

Tried to subscribe

Tried several times to subscribe using my credit card MasterCard to no success.

The payment with the credit card goes wrong.

I live in the Netherlands.

Filled out everything right, never encountered problems with this credit card paying.

@Fr. Bill

I think cereal man was 6. I was really hoping the Fool was #7, but I'm guessing TF will keep it quiet. It's all good, one less troll is a good thing , regardless of who it was.

Still here....

Turd - I have been here since the beginning of your switch from blogspot and I find great value in what you have built here. So does my hubby. Anyone who really sees you knows you are the real deal and no hypocrite. I appreciate all your time and efforts, as well as the patience of Mrs. F and will continue to visit regularly.

Pay no mind to your seven trolls or the men with small wankers from ZH. Blogenvy is soooo 2010. ;-)

Someone was jealous

and threatened to out you as a hypocrite. I would say just carry on with no mind to the clueless one. We all need to do what we need to do to make things work. I'd say you are doing just fine, provide a valued service and deserve your just rewards.

What are the specks, about 4 out of 5 new businesses fail in the first year or so. You can't win if you don't play the game and try.

Aug 14, 2013 - 4:25pm

I'm in!

The vault, that is. Looking forward to the newest phase of life in Turdville. Well worth the dough considering its a site I review more than once a day. Come on everybody, the water's fine!

Thanks Turd

For what it's worth I have no qualms about you switching to a subscription format. The time and effort you have to invest in a site like this has to be tremendous, and it makes sense for you to expect reasonable compensation.

Those who don't like the change have a simple option available to them - namely, go away.

I am still weighing whether or not to sign up, but since I'm not a trader and have little need for charts or TA I will be taking a wait and see approach for now.

But I do want to take this opportunity to thank you and commend you for putting this site together. You have gathered a remarkable community of intelligent people here at TFMR, and I thoroughly enjoy reading, learning and occasionally commenting here.

New site

Turd thank you for the value added subscription. The access2access is great. I am looking forward to hearing your timely analyzes in your podcasts. I find the added material well worth the price. Wishing you financial success so that it will continue.

Who would buy a pension from Turd?

It seems to me that now you have openly come forward, you do have an opportunity to use the respect you have earned within the metals community to your advantage. It is clear that you have an understanding of the economic system and that you are a damn good analysor.

However, given the view we all share on where the dollar is going, I do put question marks to the idea of providing pensions on an annuity base. To me, that sounds like "fixed nominal income", because that's what an annuity mortgage is like. In other words: the first impression I get is: "this is just some fixed interest rate product, like a dozen in a row".

At the media coverage page, I do read something about gold:

JeeYeon Park at highlights a CNBC appearance by Craig Hemke, president and founder of During the segment, Hemke offers that investors should look into gold and precious metals. "You're seeing gold continuing to rally as it's becoming a global currency that cannot be manipulated by central banks," he explains.

I would suggest that if you want to use your expertise in the metals for selling pensions, you would want to focus on those people which are looking for solutions based primarily on the metals. Once the metals surge, there will be a mania phase, during which a stampede into the metals will occur. I'm sure before long, there will be loads of people who will be interested in converting their 401K's (I think you call them) into the metals.

How would they do that?

I have no idea how one would go about doing that, but I would certainly take Turd's advice into serious consideration if I were living in the U.S. Perhaps you could use your acces - to - access to make a deal with Sprott or Turk or something?

To sum this up: consider targeting people who are looking for a way to convert their existing pension plan into a metals based plan and use the well earned trust you have built up within this community for your advantage.

Good luck and keep up the goodies!
