Are You Ready? Are You Prepared?

I fear that war is looming and, with any war, the consequences and outcomes are unpredictable.

Before we get started, please understand my intentions here. This thread is not a political discussion. It is not a religious discussion, either. This is a disaster preparedness discussion.

It's not about the Jews or the Arabs. It's not about the Islamists or the Zionists. It's about the potential inevitability of conflict, the possible implications and reach of such conflict and your preparations for such an event.

Any comments that attempt to hijack this thread into a one-side-bad, one-side-good free-for-all will be deleted. WHY? Because it doesn't matter what you think. Whether or not the world falls into conflagration will not be decided by your efforts to control this board with your personal geo-political beliefs. We are all simple spectators to these events, yet these same events may have a high likelihood of touching you personally.

So, I want to know what you think. What is the likelihood of war? If war starts in the Middle East, what impact do you expect where you live? And finally, what steps are you taking now to prepare yourself, your family and your friends for these possible outcomes?

As background and as discussion points, here are a series of links for you to ponder from a wide variety of news sources. I considered putting them into some type of order for you but I don't want to prejudice your opinion. So, here they are, in no particular order:

I'll start this all off by telling you what I think:

War is coming. Soon, after years of bluster, Israel will attack Iran, with or without direct U.S. support. Iran will respond as if it was attacked by the U.S. Open borders within the U.S. and Europe have allowed the pre-placement of multitudes of counter-attack cells that are immediately activated. All commerce and interaction is halted as it literally becomes unsafe to travel, even across town, as fear grips nearly everyone. Eventually, the conflict is contained and fought out. Massive casualties throughout Israel and the Middle East. In time, the world steps back from the edge and martial law type restrictions are eased.

To survive through this timeframe, I am attempting to prepare the Ferguson household for some "togetherness". I'm not going crazy with the food storage stuff, but we certainly have enough to last us for a while should conflict break out without warning. If there is time to act at the beginning of hostilities, Mrs F and I will immediately raid Costco and CVS to build up a more significant surplus. I have a Berkey. I have a sidearm and extra ammunition. I do not currently have a generator but that is something I am working on. I keep some extra fiat around just in case and, obviously, I have some physical metal strategically placed for emergencies.

Again, please use this thread to discuss your personal interpretation/predictions of future events and then share with everyone how you are preparing for the eventualities you expect. And it would be foolish of me to not include a link here to the "Prep Store" side of Turdmart. If, after reading this thread and all of the comments, you feel compelled to do some shopping, you can begin your adventure here: https://www.tfmetalsreport.com/preparation-store

Thanks for reading and participating. I look forward to seeing your feedback.

War

The only way the ME could get any more dangerous is if you added about an inch of gasoline to the top of the entire Strait of Hormuz. War? Absolutely! When..... Soon. How bad? I'm not a big God fan but if they discover something out there, I hope He can help. War? 99% certainty.

Preps

I think war will come in the not to distant future. I think Turd's scenario is a possibility. I have many preps - food (long term and short term storage types), some fuel, guns, ammo, generator, water, etc. I don't think Turd's idea of raiding Costco at the last minute is a good one. Too many others will be doing the same - thus potentially dangerous and unreliable. It would be nice if possible to get some perishables but I am not planning on any last minute store run in case things turn sour fast.

War it is

Israel does not trust this administration to come to their aid after the election if the current administration gets re-elected.

They will force the US involvement if this administration wants the Jewish vote.

It won't take much to impact our economy. A couple mall or public place acts of retribution and commerce slows way down.

BTW, I'm totally with you, man. War is coming. The police state is here and dying to try out their new toys and training. I'm prepared to weather it out with friends and family with my humble stash of food, water, guns, and fiat... too bad I lost all my PM in a game of poker. ;)

To all the married, head of household, saps like me (I have 3 little ones, as well). Stick to the long game. Don't bend to your family's wishes to crack open the safe and "live a little." Don't let your zombie friends and coworkers wear your down that you're paranoid and your wasting your time "prepping." Patience is key in preparing for this eventuality, and we will be handsomely rewarded for all the snickers, sneers, and solicitations we endured to make it through to the end game. You are doing what's best for your fam, and, Turd, I know you didn't want to make this a religious pissing match, but I have faith that there is a God who always calls a remnant to prepare for times like these. You don't have to be religious to hear the call, but you are wise to heed it.

95% of conflict restricted to ME

What I think we'll see is a 2 week air campaign to destroy military assets and nuclear facilities in Iran. There will of course be some spill over to other countries and some terrorist attacks, especially on US and Israeli interests around the world. Its possible but unlikely that we'll have a few terrorist strikes in the US, most likely in NYC.

The real great unknown will be the reaction of the Iranian people. Will they rise up with the opportunity to overthrown their government? If so, will we help them militarily from the air? This could mean an Iranian conflict that goes on for months or years.

Market wise, gold and oil go up, stocks down in the short term.

If war starts in the middle east ..

I think there is already plenty of war in the middle east. Afghanistan is still ongoing, I'm sure british soldiers being killed fairly regularly, in Iraq did the US invasion end yet? Syria is in the middle of civil war ...

If it starts in Iran and Israel it will ramp up to a new level though. how will it affect where i live? there will be even more graphic depictions of violence in the media which will be constant on every channel. braindead sleeping masses will lap it up glad of the distraction from economic problems at home. The awakened few will watch impotently while war mongering politicians like William Hague argue that Britain is morally obliged to step in with or without UN support. Muslims will unite as planned by the powers that be under the Muslim brotherhood.

Few will know who is really pulling the strings but there will be some people who will make immense profit from it. If the war is very successful (from a certain perspective) a new era will dawn after the carnage where the world is united under one government, one army and one fiat currency. so it can never happen again

War will come . . .

Yes, there will be war. It is the old wag the dog story. If for no other reason, to galvanize the public against the next bogeyman, to deflect attention from the real problem.

Anyway, I have been preparing for some time. Have a years' worth of food for 6, my own well with a hand pump, 39 acres of rural land, 22 arable, solar power for the necessities, a diesel generator with 500 gallons tank, handgun, assault rifle, shotgun with slug barrel, .30 .06 rifle, a .22 and thousands of rounds. I hunt, etc., so won't be wasted if all is well, as I hope. Also have stacked PMs, as someday they will again be money.

I feel compelled to say this

I feel compelled to say this whole thing makes me sick. I don't side with an "Islamic Revolution" or anyone else in this whole disgusting affair, but how anyone can come away with the opinion that Iran is the aggressor in this instance is beyond me. They are no threat despite their blustering and will be decimated in any attack, and as always the average joe will be the one who suffers the most. The brain-damaged loonies running countries are exactly like bullies on the school playground. They're the worst of the worst and are elevated to positions where they can do the most damage to everyone else. Stop supporting any of these monsters, and put on your mental filter in preparation for a propaganda blitz the likes of which you've never seen before.

Of course there will be another war…

We gotta do something to justify having our budged so heavily skewed towards the military, plus, the plebes don't currently have a "Dr. Evil" to hate on:

This guy's no longer useful:

So might as well be this guy:

I never really bought the whole 'terrorists amongst us' thing that's been tossed around the last 12 years. I think if terrorists were here and they really wanted to 'terrify' the American people, all they'd have to do would be to blow up a drug store here, a movie theater there and a restaurant someplace else and the whole country would shut down in a heartbeat, so I'm not particularly concerned that we'll be under attack when war breaks out. Let me rephrase that, if it turns out we ARE under attack once war breaks out, I'll be skeptical as to who is truly responsible for it.

That doesn't mean it won't suck big time here when war breaks out - far from it - so by all means PREP!

War

Yep - think it is coming. Israel will not do it alone though. They might look as if they are but will have back up lined up .....

Indeed - US basis will be hit in the Gulf and "nasty events" will occur in all Western counties (as per Turd prediction) - this will lead to Marshall law in all of the West. U.S. and rest will then enter the war and take out Iran.

Total domination of worlds natural resources of all people of the world in slavery - meanwhile; Iran who did absolutely nothing in the Gulf nor did any such "terrorist" attacks abroad will say something like. "WTF just happened". - Well those still alive will.

False flags and slavery. Yes we are already at war - and we will soon be completely outflanked and we will be told that it is for our own protection. and we will love our big brother.

My concern....

...is that I'm not certain that our current administration has any interest in seeing the US survive as a superpower and might just as well concede our sovereignty to his handlers in the ME. I do not think he has the support of our military (or what is left of it), and I'm not certain they would follow his orders to lay down their arms in the face of an enemy with whom he is politically aligned, although some might. So, that just makes it all the more scary as we, as individual citizens, may be called upon to protect our own homeland without benefit of a coordinating government, or in the alternative, forming another government to defend ourselves from enemies both foreign and domestic. It could get very ugly.

The key is speed

I have pretty much the same preps in place Turd, though I do have more guns, ammo and emergency food. The key I think is responding with lightening quickness when the time is right. When everyone else is watching headlines of the beginning of conflict you need to be in the store stocking up. I also keep my Jeep full of gas and have a "lightening" bug out plan that follows waterways for over 200 miles in terrain I grew up in, the final destination is land that I own and can live off of. I live in the city in a rough neighborhood hence the investment in firearms, when things get out of control it will happen faster here than in nicer neighborhoods since the people have less to begin with.

i am a s.w.w.a.g.g.g man

i think therefore i am. that being said i am one who thinks this will be an election hot button and isreal is going to see if bummers support is real. i say isreal waits to see if they get orommer to back their play. if he "loses" then they go after iran anyway and take the re-election of BO as a sign they are no longer supported by the majority of this country. have not seen an accurate timetable for if/when iran gets their nuc online, if isreal waits that long i think it is too late. do not think iran will hesitate given the chance to level the place which i feel would be suicide. my hope is still for peace and for the record i do not support war of any kind but still enjoy what is left of my "freedom".

Preparing for War

I started getting really edgy last week and moved a chunk into an oil bull fund and several drillers in the North Sea and mid-western Canada. (I'm avoiding anybody with oil wells in the ME.) Topped up in PMs - bullion, diggers and bull funds. Two generators, extra gas, extra propane. Unfortunately, I must leave the relative safety of Canada and travel back to Arizona to avoid the winter chills otherwise, I'd much rather be up here when TSHTF. As such, my larder is in Walmart and PigglyWiggly.

Armageddon? Not a chance without Euphrates drying up.

Zero chance of Armageddon. One of the more specific signs that will occur according to the Bible is the Euphrates River drying up and that sucker has been flowing nonstop for thousands of years. I mean if that baby were drying up the New York Times would be out there taking pictures. Besides, it would take a few years to dry up, so no worries.

Perpetual War

When, in the last ten or so years (or the twenty before that), has there not been a war?

Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria are all ongoing. What you are really asking is when will it expand to include some new theaters of operation. And that answer would appear to be soon. Israel will draw the US and the other NATO countries into the expansion of the playing field. Syria (in an overt invasion and not the current "support" role), Lebanon (again), bombing Iran back to the stone age (not sure about boots on the ground here as it is a big, mountainous country). Coming soon perhaps.

Be sure that any "response" on friendly soil will be treated as a terrorist act and used to justify martial law and all the other measures they have waiting for the population.

As for that last trip to Costco, that place is a zoo at the best of times and you'd better have your preps in place before TSHTF. Remember he who panics first, well it isn't quite a panic if it is only you.

War might be coming...

But the fear created by the war hype is a convenient way to mask the rising prices of all goods. And a good excuse...

They have to keep our eyes away from the fed, and our failed economy... at all cost.

I believe strongly in the wisdom of our Grandparents, to have at least six months worth of food stocked up. Something that I rarely see in many homes I visit to do electrical work at.

Better to have it and not need it, then need it and not have it... that goes for all preps.

Thanks Turd, you are using your public forum to really make a difference.

All the best to you and yours. Lets pray for the best.

Nice intitiativel Turd, I'm

Nice intitiativel Turd, I'm so tired of reading politics or religious stand points.

If war does start out between Israel-Iran and dragging the US into it I still have a hard time seeing other nations getting involved and I have REAL hard time seeing war coming to the continental USA so not really sure if preparations you mention are necessary But better be prepared than sorry. More interesting though is what will happen to markets and metals.

@El Gordo

It's interesting that you said you don't think Obama has the full support of the military. I've wondered that . . . as a veteran, I do not think most servicemen would follow his orders if they were unconstitutional, such as firing on fellow Americans, etc.

That being said, I am still more fearful of our own government under military law than of foreign terrorists.
