Turd Talks Metals

Today is a great day in Turdville!

As you know, the question has been: How do we expand this site and expand our reach while keeping TFMR the friendly (and free) community that it has become. I considered several options. Ad revenue alone wasn't going to do it and I didn't want to cordon off a sections of TFMR as subscription-only. The best solution I found was to develop a "sister" site. Today it goes "live" and the address is:

I recognize that a subscription-based site is not for everyone and I don't expect everyone to join (though that would certainly be nice ). I do think, though, that the two sites will complement each other. TurdTalksMetals will allow members some new "premium" features such as occasional conference calls with me and others in the metals "industry". It will also feature webinars and chats so that members can have direct access to some of the biggest names in metals and the daily "comments string" will be largely non-moderated and threaded so that members can efficiently discuss the events of the day. The additional revenue that TTM provides will help to compensate me for what has become a full-time job. It will also allow TFMR to grow, remain free-of-charge and provide funding for events such as the hoped-for "Turdapalooza".

Please consider joining TTM. We've priced it as affordably as possible and my plan is to make it the most informative and interactive precious metal-related site on the internet.

Thanks again for making all of this possible.

More on BIS gold swaps.

In 2010, when the BIS first revealed that it held gold swap agreements worth SDR8.16bn (representing 346 tonnes of gold) the revelation knocked the gold market.

That’s because rather than making money (or yield) from lending out its gold — as the BIS usually did — it had become cost effective for the BIS to lend out currency against gold collateral instead.

It was possibly the most famous example of a “cash for gold” loan in the world — with the BIS acting as the ultimate bullion pawnbroker.

So has anything changed this year?

Hey Turd,

I will probably be subscribing this afternoon. Just one thing--you might consider releasing your commentary for free after some set time, say two weeks. That free taste is enticing to those on the fence, and helpful to those who can't afford it.

does this mean that there will be two threads to follow?

The Main St. thread here, and a daily thread at TTM?

Jun 25, 2012 - 9:22am

Cool stuff TF

Congrats on getting this endeavor off the ground and onto the site for all of us.

The level of service and info you provide is outstanding and I'd like to thank the folks on the Admin. side who make all of this possible for TFMR

The intro vid was well done. Nice job by all behind the scene's

Morning All....

I had crazy sex while rolling around in a bunch of newly liberated shiny this weekend. My LCS is now dryer than a $10,000 hooker at 4 AM.

Still plenty more ammo to hit that again.......

Turd Talks Metals is a completely different subscription site

Just to clarify for folks: Turd Talks Metals is a subscription site that is not integrated with tfmetalsreport.com at all. "Will there be a separate main thread?" Sure...but the community there is going to be different from the one here - it will all be behind a "paywall." There will be no moderation for the most part. The site has been built and is managed by another group, so the admins and moderators here do not have access to it. We had nothing to do with it being built. Turd Talks Metals is part of a bigger network of metals-related podcasts from what I understand. I guess we'll see over time how the two communities end up evolving! :-)

Turd Talks Metals - NEW SITE, NEW USERNAME

Folks, we understand this may be a little annoying, but since the Turd Talks Metals site is *not* a part of TF Metals Report, you will need an ENTIRELY NEW USERNAME AND ACCOUNT over at Turd Talks Metals. It is running different software and may have different username requirements than here.

Nice Video Turd

Silver 25.85 / SLV 25.00001 sounds about right. You think for one second that the ataris are not drooling at all the juicy stops below 26.15?

Whether we like it or not, paper is still in play and the ataris don't trade physical. You can ignore reality, but you cannot ignore the consequences of ignoring reality (Ayn Rand).

Physical WILL ultimately win. But for the time being, hedge your bets with paper you would be more than happy to lose! Soon paper will not matter. Until then, stop ignoring reality.

New Username

No big deal and I'm actually looking forward to it. This could be fun besides being informative.

We'll see who can ID myself or anyone else on there.

Thanks for keeping all of us informed on this Jane.

Oh and a PS on Turd Talks Metals

Some of you may be excited to hear that you can go over to Turd Talks Metals and the evil Moderator Jane won't be there to stop you from being an asshole. Well, just to warn you - even though the podcast comments will not be moderated, Turd will still have the power to squash you over there. So don't sign up thinking it's permission to flame the pants off of him or otherwise stir up trouble. You can and will be kicked out if you are more trouble than you are worth.

Otherwise, I think the idea is that most people who pay won't be trolls anyway. But I just thought I'd make this clear. :-)

Divide and Conquer, Turd?

I will be joining the new site.

Turd, I appreciate everything you have done, you do, and will continue to do, to help educate and awaken the public.

But I am concerned about how two sites will work successfully together.

Are you expecting the current community members who also join "Turd Talks Metals" to continue to take the time to make comments at BOTH sites????

I am afraid that what is likely to happen is those that join the new site will only post their valuable comments behind the "paywall" (to use the ugly, if not accurate, expression of Moderator Jane).

That is fine for me, but for family and friends and acquaintances many of us are trying to bring to TFMetals - not just for your comments, Turd, but for the amazing contributions of people from around the world that see beyond the MSM and MOPE - I hope TFMetals will continue to be a important resource.

I hope we will not find that we have segregated our wonderful community into two distinct parts.

Nevertheless, I wish you great success with the new venture, and I look forward to being part of it.

Future of TF Metals Report

Truthseeker, I am not going to lie to you. I am also concerned about how the two communities are going to work together. I am less concerned about people putting their best comments over in Turd Talks Metals, and more concerned about the nasty element we successfully weeded out here taking over there. I still think the community here will be strong...whether or not the unmoderated comments over there will end up being a pitfall of the new site remains to be seen.

As for this site...I've been talking with Turd about how to add more free feature-rich content to TFMR, and one thought we had was to add guest bloggers and a news section. If you have suggestions for content you'd like to see here, I've started a topic for it in the Site Feedback forum:

Just subscribed to Turds' new site! I have also decided to reinvent myself and change my name here from "Sturdy Fergusov" to "The8thHabit" since, as Turd's websites, my goal is to elevate From Effectiveness to Greatness. Still holding Sturdy, The8thHabit.

Arizona Law Ruled Mostly Unconstitutional

From SCOTUS live blog at Bloomberg Law:

Amy Howe:

The Ninth Circuit is reversed in part and affirmed in part. Justice Kagan does not participate.

Most of the key provisions of SB1070 (3 of 4) are invalidated. One provision is held not to be proved preempted; it must be construed.

Amy Howe:

It was improper for the lower courts to enjoin Section 2(B), which requires police officers to check the legal status of anyone arrested for any crime before they can be released.

The provision that the Court says is not yet preempted is the "check your papers" provision that commands officers to check immigration status.
