Today is a great day in Turdville!

As you know, the question has been: How do we expand this site and expand our reach while keeping TFMR the friendly (and free) community that it has become. I considered several options. Ad revenue alone wasn't going to do it and I didn't want to cordon off a sections of TFMR as subscription-only. The best solution I found was to develop a "sister" site. Today it goes "live" and the address is:

https://www.turdtalksmetals.com/

I recognize that a subscription-based site is not for everyone and I don't expect everyone to join (though that would certainly be nice ). I do think, though, that the two sites will complement each other. TurdTalksMetals will allow members some new "premium" features such as occasional conference calls with me and others in the metals "industry". It will also feature webinars and chats so that members can have direct access to some of the biggest names in metals and the daily "comments string" will be largely non-moderated and threaded so that members can efficiently discuss the events of the day. The additional revenue that TTM provides will help to compensate me for what has become a full-time job. It will also allow TFMR to grow, remain free-of-charge and provide funding for events such as the hoped-for "Turdapalooza".

Please consider joining TTM. We've priced it as affordably as possible and my plan is to make it the most informative and interactive precious metal-related site on the internet.

Thanks again for making all of this possible.

More on BIS gold swaps.

In 2010, when the BIS first revealed that it held gold swap agreements worth SDR8.16bn (representing 346 tonnes of gold) the revelation knocked the gold market.

That’s because rather than making money (or yield) from lending out its gold — as the BIS usually did — it had become cost effective for the BIS to lend out currency against gold collateral instead.

It was possibly the most famous example of a “cash for gold” loan in the world — with the BIS acting as the ultimate bullion pawnbroker.

So has anything changed this year?

Hey Turd, I will probably be

Hey Turd,

I will probably be subscribing this afternoon. Just one thing--you might consider releasing your commentary for free after some set time, say two weeks. That free taste is enticing to those on the fence, and helpful to those who can't afford it.

does this mean that there will be two threads to follow?

The Main St. thread here, and a daily thread at TTM?

Morning All....

I had crazy sex while rolling around in a bunch of newly liberated shiny this weekend. My LCS is now dryer than a $10,000 hooker at 4 AM.

Still plenty more ammo to hit that again.......

Turd Talks Metals is a completely different subscription site

Just to clarify for folks: Turd Talks Metals is a subscription site that is not integrated with tfmetalsreport.com at all. "Will there be a separate main thread?" Sure...but the community there is going to be different from the one here - it will all be behind a "paywall." There will be no moderation for the most part. The site has been built and is managed by another group, so the admins and moderators here do not have access to it. We had nothing to do with it being built. Turd Talks Metals is part of a bigger network of metals-related podcasts from what I understand. I guess we'll see over time how the two communities end up evolving! :-)
