Video Site Update - 3/31/12

Sat, Mar 31, 2012 - 1:10pm

Lots of stuff to cover. So much so that I figured the only way I could express my excitement was through another video.

I apologize for the audio quality. I probably should have re-recorded it but I was so pleased with this "first take" that I didn't want to re-do it. Please take the 10 minutes to watch, however, even if you have to adjust the volume a bit. There are some amazing and exciting things going on behind-the-scenes here in Turdville and I am very excited to bring you up to speed.

I used to do a lot of public speaking. I can tell that I've gotten out if practice, however. Lots and lots of "ummms" and "uhhhs". Sorry. When winging it, old habits creep up. Will work on eliminating this annoying habit.

I think the convention is a splendid idea, I'm sure you could get bullion dealers and survival supply vendors to come and show their wares. (if not sponsor the event) Combine with some analyst presentations, expert roundtable discussions, and a swanky after party, you have a successful weekend on your hands.

Goodbye Coins...

As more states and individuals prepare for future turmoil, Washington continues to look for more ways to abuse the nation’s currency. Geithner is currently trying to receive congressional permission to strip copper and other valuable metals from pennies and nickels. He told a House Appropriations Committee this week, “Currently, the costs of making the penny and the nickel are more than twice the face value of each of those coins,” according to Since 1982, pennies are mostly made from zinc and only contain about 2.5 percent copper. Meanwhile, the nickel is composed of 75 percent copper and 25 percent nickel. Geithner hopes that minting changes “will save more than $75 million” per year, starting next year.

Although met with criticism, some governments are willing to eliminate certain circulated coins altogether. The Canadian government announced in its budget on Thursday it will withdraw its penny from circulation this year, hoping to save around $11 million annually. Finance Minister Jim Flaherty said, “Pennies take up too much space on our dressers at home. They take up far too much time for small businesses trying to grow and create jobs,” according to Bloomberg. That may be true, but the move also helps to hide the debasement of currencies from the public...

Hat tip to the Turd

Interesting developments. Evolution in action. Praise to Turd and the Mods for keeping this community a place where newcomers are coming through the door and drawing up a stool, knowing they will be welcomed and not flamed. TFMR now has so many neighborhoods (soon to become a county) where the same spirit of goodwill mixed with informed opinion, hard data, crazy ideas, different views, humor, music can coexist (with the occasional help of the 'ignore' button and the Mods).

IMO Turd should be able to make enough money from the site to keep Mrs Turd happy and allow him to be free to develop new services/ideas. As he said, who'd employ him ;).

Mar 31, 2012 - 1:47pm

This could get interesting...

...pretty soon if there is a beginning of the month trend that points in that direction right out of the monthly gate. That remains to be seen and although I still believe that a melt-up is slowly happening it definitely did not occur in any obvious way this past March.

The whole Greek non-event (bond market wise ) and the reversal of the market reacting to huge amounts of EU LTRO and Firewall etc. talk was a total shift in gears away from it stimulating the PM's in any meaningful way.

As a matter of fact, as we all know, it was attacked or sold off just prior to or during those very same EU, ECB etc. announcements of BILLIONS or TRILLIONS of monetary hocus pocus that's on the way. Nothing suspicious there, right? Throw in all the speech giving and gold standard bashing we saw Bernake doing this month and I'm surprised were not actually lower.

I won't belabor the fact about what we've talked about on here the past couple of weeks, but the pre-emptive take down or neutering of the PM's (and oil to a lesser extent) has been a bit numbing to see. We're all human and want our assets to increase in value.

So do the central banks and govt.'s and their attempt to inflate their assets (collateral) while tamping down others selectively. That won't last forever. ZIRP can't continuously be applied without something in the market place eventually forcing their hand. Pressure is building up in the system and they basically are applying newly created band-aids and using the MSM as a ointment.

Imo, we still haven't seen a black swan yet that the CB's think they can't paper over or tamp down with rhetoric or speeches by Fed officials. Their hardcore belief that they can control everything is their weak point or blind spot. Greed and ego rarely end up in a fairy tale ending.

Having said that, the cork is eventually going to pop out of their bottled up debt and accounting gimmickry. Greed and ego rarely end up in a fairy tale ending.

I'm no chart guy (unfortunately) but the MACD indicates a deeply oversold condition and looks like that upward cycle is just starting to trend up again. yes

Have faith in yourself that your doing the right thing. I do.

Hold your allocated metal?

Well I don't have a problem with that (I use Goldmoney) but what happened to taking delivery?

I'll certainly subscribe to a daily podcast if you price it right.

Hey, even the miners might get a bid.

That'd be the day, eh? If you can't get bullion, them mining shares are gonna look pretty darn attractive, that's for sure. There seems to be something strange converging this spring, QE200 or no QE200, I think something is about to turn quite interesting.....

About damn time to, all this anticipation constipation has made me a nerve wreck.

Turd Services

As for these new subscriptions: I'm down like a clown, Charlie Brown! I work my butt off and sad to say that this is an important social outlet for me. Too many people I know are not seeing the light and it can feel lonely sometimes. I look forward to more interaction with like-minded people and although this may seem a bit elitist, I welcome the idea of interacting with people who actually financially contribute and not just hang out. I feel the level of discussion among those willing to contribute and participate will make for very enlightening discussions. It's not to say that I wouldn't share with anyone, but it sometimes can get annoying when in the middle of a good discussion, the subject gets constantly derailed and we may not know their intentions. I'm guilty of it a bit sometimes too so not throwing stones... Anyway, looking forward to what's coming, Turd!

Mar 31, 2012 - 2:18pm

to buying a members subscription. Great work here Turd. It is always nice to see a good man's honest input turn golden. Thanks.

Panic buying

You may have read about about the panic buying of fuel in the UK, sparked by government advice to prepare people for a possible fuel delivery strike. For those who think Preppers are crazy, this panic shows them (IF they are willing to see) the wisdom of getting in before the masses start getting nasty. I must admit to certain smugness, knowing there are full jerry cans in my garage. (Lord forgive me).

When the 99% not holding PMs realize that silver and gold are where their money should be there is going to be that same panic. Dealers will be cleared out in hours and PM websites will crash. Most people will be left with nothing but cotton paper. Hey, even the miners might get a bid.

What about people like me?

What about people like me who, as Groucho said, would not want to be a member of anything that would let someone like me be a member? Is there going to be a "doghouse" or "non-preferred" or "enter at your own risk" site of some kind?

My blood is in the streets..

A good portion of my blood is in the streets with fellow miners owners, been hanging on by my fingernails. I do not normally embrace technical analysis (with the exception of the great and powerful turd's analysis of short term repeating cartel manipulations) but today's post from Screwtape Files leads me to believe that the time is now to wade into the blood and buy, buy, buy. Dress up as your favorite PTB

How about a costume party where we all dress up as a different member of the EE? I would like to claim rights to being Uncle Ben Bernanke. I figured Turd would be the head of TPTB and dress up as jamie diamond or the monopoly guy, whichever suits him that day. They are, after all, the same person. (JD and uncle moneybags that is)

Hell yes, Turd!

It is about darn time you started getting compensated properly for the value you have created here through all your hard work. You deserve every penny, and then some. Can't wait.

And a 'Gathering of the Turdites' sounds great. I've now had the pleasure of meeting two of my fine friends here at TFMetals in person, and I am exceedingly glad I did... truly fine people, I am honored to call them friends. So my guess is that a gathering would be more of the same. NYC sounds great, maybe we can have a street barbeque outside the Fed in front of 33 Liberty, all wearing our yellow hats. Tabberto's vision made real!

Edit- Dmanson: you said "... this is an important social outlet for me. Too many people I know are not seeing the light and it can feel lonely sometimes. I look forward to more interaction with like-minded people". Amen, brother. It was honestly a great feeling to have conversations in real-life with turdites I know "get it". Almost liberating, frankly, to be able to speak aloud of the things we discuss here, without worry. When we say that we are among friends at this site, it is in fact true. I'll buy you a cold one at the meet-up!

Mar 31, 2012 - 2:34pm

That was awesome!

TF...way to go dude!

Maybe we could to N.Y. and get arrested while wearing big, yellow hats. I bet that would make the MSM on the nightly newscheeky

It's good to know, and there was never a doubt, that your so comfortable in your own skin that you can literally pull on your ears and enjoy it. I lost it! laugh

I can't be the only one who feels the energy and is excited about these 'events' coming up.

We're a virtual PM gang.

I'm jacked up like this guy...

Turd, I think just putting a few folded comforters/ blankets in the room will help suck up some of the echo. It sounds like an empty room w/ a wooden floor you recorded in. Carpeted rooms suck up the bouncing sound waves better. Otherwise, pretty excited to see you expand this site. Hopefully we can get an idea soon of what this standard subscription fee is. PA

I'd definitely roll to a convention in the NYC.

I have to say the best trading advice anyone has given in any forum is, "Buy when everyone else is selling and sell when everyone else is buying"! I've been following this Turd philosophy since 10/2011 and it has worked well very well for me. I just wish I had sold more at the peaks and bought more at the dips.

If the fees are reasonable I'll consider a membership.

Keep up the good work Turd!

Sounds good ... Im in! And

Sounds good ... Im in! And meeting up would be cool, even if Im new to the active part of the community i think a get together would be awesome. Talking over the internet only gets you so far in feeling like you actually talked about it and got it off your chest. It somehow just does not satisfy the same as a face-to-face conversation.

and yes, deadheads have finally shown some face around here. Although don't worry if we have a meet up, I only smell on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednsdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, so you should be fine : )

ohhh and ITS MY BIRTHDAY!! So do I get a free membership for the announcements commencing on my

day of birth??? Ill be looking forward to it : )
