Hey Turd, why publish a posed

Hey Turd, why publish a posed propaganda shot? Who knows who this guy is or what role he's playing. He's got the threatening primate look for sure, but he's not a representative of the OWS's concerns. He's probably a plant who very effectively gets an angry instinctive response from folks and gets that anger to carry over and demonize any movement he's supposedly part of - a very effective form of negative propaganda.

Honestly inclined to agree

Don't get me wrong though, I'm quite angry about the illegal and amoral activities of some of TBTB, and certainly I would have like him to also mentioned the fools at the top too. It's true though, and I'm quite aware of how much of my generation and the one after mine think. Many of them are entitled pricks, so of course they are complaining now that they didn't get theirs. To be honest though, I wouldn't stop at just the last 25 years of kids, but even further. The U.S. has been at the top of the food chain for 65 years; if that doesn't encourage entitlement I don't know what does. The truth is that we're all to blame in one way or another. It's just been so easy to sit back and enjoy the bread and circuses, that dragging ourselves off our a**es to put out the fire may be a little harder than expected. Complacency kills. There may very well be (okay are) evil or simply amoral men and women who want to harm us in one way or another, but what power would they have if we all hadn't been happy to indulge?

Some more than others....

Also I've always found the guy hilarious

Adam Corolla's wank (that's kiwi for rant)

Adam Corolla's rant is perfectly valid if we assume a level playing field. Unfortunately he is deluded in his apparent assumption that this still exists.

Loved it, thanks for posting it Turd

I've always liked the way Adam Carolla brings it, I'm sure it comes through even in the sanitized version. But more than anything else, I really appreciate that the topic of this particular rant should resonate with some of the ass-douches who slink around and talk shit about Turd and Turdville. I could say more, but energy should not be wasted on ass-douches. Instead, I would like to salute all of the great people whose effort, time, money and good intention have brought us to the point where we are now. I feel the momentum building.

Ugh

I don't know where Carolla is getting his figures, but there are a number of studies that show the poor pay a higher percentage of their income in taxes than the rich do. Most of the people yelling about the top 1% paying half the taxes are only looking at income tax, and don't take account of payroll, property, and sales taxes. They also don't take account of the fact that because we are in an economic depression millions of people have been pushed out of the workforce and below the poverty line, and we all know that it isn't the poor who are responsible for this economic crisis. Nor does this kill-the-poor rhetoric take account of the ridiculous growth in the income of the top 1%, which consequently means they pay larger chunks of all taxes, even as the percentage of their income that is going to taxes stays the same or actually falls due to loop holes and tax credits.

Here is just one example of a study, which shows that the poor pay higher percentages of their income in state and local taxes: https://www.itepnet.org/whopays3.pdf [LINK TO PDF]

Here's another source, which looks at the propaganda coming out about 50% of people not paying federal income tax: https://www.cbpp.org/cms/index.cfm?fa=view&id=3505

sad

Adam whomever is dull-brained. He completely misses the point and in doing so plays right into the hands of the bankster plutocracy.

Its about the Banksters. Duh. Please someone convince me otherwise.

Its not about barking over scraps that have fallen from the Banksters banquet table.

Keep the focus where it begs to be. Any serious human being by this stage knows who the big criminals are. All the rest is noise.

Thank God for Occupy Wall Street. May they persevere in courage, rage and in their demands for justice. And for those who are scared of them - and let's be honest its fear that causes that kind of ignorant reaction - go hide your metal under the toilet or guard it nightly with your guns or whatever. The kids aren't the ones coming for it. Its the banksters and they own the police remember? At least know who your enemy is.

You know the system is screwed up when ...

people who don't pay tax could somehow vote on how much those who do should pay. He who pays no tax is disqualified to vote.

@San Diego Gold Bug

Easy there, big gunner... I only mention FM because, recently, someone asked where they could buy silver direct from a miner. FM doesn't change their price very often, and as such, the other day "spot" price was around $33.50 and they were selling for $34.50, a $1 markup. Not to mention i prefer supporting a local miner (I live in Vancouver) much more than some major online yankee retailer, as you suggest.

I don't give a rat's rectum on rye about "Occupy Wall Street". Meet the new dirty hippies. Same as the old dirty hippies. That said, if they are making the banksters uncomfortable, more power to them!

Virtually no one in this

Virtually no one in this country pays zero tax. Perhaps children or the incompetent are exempt, but everyone else pays taxes when they buy goods and services, or when they pay for things like car registration, or taxes on electricity and heating gas for their homes/apartments.

MFG used accounting trickery sanctioned by FASB

MF Global used accounting trickery to keep billions of liabilities off of its books. It routinely employed this strategy near the end of a quarter to hide its exposure. This type of accounting treatment is sanctioned by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) who write the accounting rules. They had banned it, but bowing to lobbyist and Congressional pressures, backed off and now allow it. Nice job FASB.

No doubt in my mind that they relied on consultants from the Big Four to design their strategy to keep all of this exposure off of their books.

So we now have the lobbyists and the best Congress money can buy influencing how accounting rules are written for complex instruments, that obfuscate the true financial health of an enterprise.

@ Turd : Carolla Rant

If you think that is not an insult to your readers, time to pull your head out of your poop chute.

Quite a few of us recognize that it is the banksters, not the workers or protesters who caused the crisis.

Adam C. is below the level of Limbaugh, if that is possible. Just another mouthpiece for the elite who want to keep the people divided.

Taking ownership of Yourself.

Individual Liberty, is the ultimate state of freedom, it comes with a price however. That price, is to take responsibility for Your actions. Your actions, controlled by You, should never encroach on anyone else's Liberty.

The question everyone has to answer in life is, am I satisfied. If the answer is yes, then don't ever blame Another or covet Another's achievements. If You answer no, I am not satisfied then, it is incumbent on You, and You alone to do something to better Yourself.

This removal of individual liberty, for the greater good of the many, has changed people's view of the world, from what can I do to make things better, to what, are You going to do to make things better. This has led to a sense that the world owes everyone something, and when they don't receive the perceived benefit, bitterness is the result.

Children think in this way, until they grow up and find out this is not the way things really are.

Some people never grow up.

D FIB

Those who buy into Carollas logic are lost in space. This video provides little benefit in understanding who's to blame for this crisis.

Hint: It isn't the guy eating dog food. Try people like Countrywide's Angelo Mazillo who walked away with 700M of stolen loot and saw no jail time.

So the 1% are carrying the ball for us? Jamie "Legs" Dimon pays his "fair share"of taxes while he and his company JPM steal billions upon billions in broad daylight?

LMAO. No doubt...

On the mark

I'd say he's pretty much right on the mark with what he said.

Success takes a lot of dedication and hard work and as someone who has been self-employed and created two enterprises on his own in the past 22 years I can relate.

Some people just have more talent and skills than others, that's life and the way it is.

That shouldn't stop anyone from being ambitious and trying to be the best person they can be and to follow their dreams as you don't have to be the smartest, richest or most fearless person on the planet.

The key is to take the skills and/or talents that you have and find a way to make them work for you and make a living at it. If someone else earns more money doing the same thing that's ok.

Not everyone is a winner but don't let that stop you.

In my opinion Carolla's conflating two topics

The kids who were rasied as he describes (I've heard stories about parents going to a kids place of work after they were fired and trying to get them rehired...where do these people come from?) and the problem with the the oligarchy.

It's obviously not the 1% it's much less, which is worse. 99% of the 1% is going to get screwed too.
