Whew! I've spent the last 60+ hours with Hyde and Sweetness in Vegas. Very fun and great to get away and decompress for a few days. I'm headed home now and will have a full post sometime later today. Until then, consider this an open thread to discuss the topics of the day.

"the "common cause" is individual liberty"

Is it now?

Isn't that was was demonized all through 2009 by our top officials and media? Is that what each of the various constituencies in this country REALLY care about? Seriously?

Individual Liberty is our national common cause?!?

Did you type that with a straight face?

Sorry if I did not catch your tongue in cheek attempt, but, from the feedback from others, I would guess that you would probably have worded the comment differently or provided more clarity if you had a do-over.

Not to worry. I've had situations that I'd like to do over as well. As I said in my previous post, I had not known you to post from ignorance in the past and so was surprised at what I saw this time. You will recall that I responded respectfully to your question about exploration companies in the past.

I think we can agree that it does no one good to insult the roots of others, even in jest. I certainly wouldn't.

So, take the pass I extended and I'll accept yours.

Have a good evening, all. This was such a crap thread with no news tonight I should not have wasted my time to read or comment on anything anyway. This is what happens when we try to create a discussion when there is little to discuss.

Excellent post GL and

Excellent post GL and historically accurate. Alot of people do not get Ron Paul. forget agreeing or disagreeing. They simply don't get it. Watch the faces of some of the journalist that question him. They are puzzelled or confused. Simply because they know nothing about Austrian economics or history beyond George washington chopped down a Cherry tree. A sad state of affairs indeed.

the constitutional amendment was most obviously a joke. (taking my head and passing it over my head)

Barter........just because some

douche'bag puppet regime tries to sell us on their own definition of the constitution doesn't change the written word of the document.. i know you'll agree with that, right? I guess what i'm saying is just because a few hundred million American citizens forgot what our true cause was/is, doesn't mean that i have.....i actually enjoy all your posts, that one comment rubbed me wrong......that's all.

No problems. I enjoy your contributions and appreciate that misunderstands can be worked out without name calling.

I will indeed be sensitive to others feelings in this regards although personally, my sense of self comes from a different space than my country, my hometown, or even ethnic background. Just a different way of being. New York bashing welcome.

You are welcome to your own facts......but I can assure you others here can do their own research with google and pick their number ....here ya go however...

Stalin consolidated his power base with the Great Purges against his political and ideological opponents, most notably the old cadres and the rank and file of the Bolshevik Party. Measures used against them ranged from imprisonment in work camps (Gulags) to assassination (such as that of Leon Trotsky and Sergei Kirov). Several show trials were held in Moscow, to serve as examples for the trials that local courts were expected to carry out elsewere in the country. There were four key trials from 1936 to 1938, The Trial of the Sixteen was the first (December 1936); then the Trial of the Seventeen (January 1937); then the trial of Red Army generals, including Marshal Tukhachevsky (June 1937); and finally the Trial of the Twenty One (including Bukharin) in March 1938.

Under the pretext of constructing `socialism in one country', Stalin terrorized large segments of the Soviet population, such as the Kulaks, a term for prosperous farmers who were disinherited when agriculture was collectivized. He also orchestrated a massive famine in the Ukraine in which an estimated 5 million people died. It is believed that with the purges, forced famines, state terrorism, labor camps, and forced migrations, Stalin was responsible for the death of as many as 40 million people within the borders of the Soviet Union. According to former National Security Advisor to US President Jimmy Carter, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Stalin murdered an estimated 20 million people.

Barter, i agree..

most Americans no longer have a clue....but when it all goes down, we're gonna have to start somewhere.....and what better place than forging a foundation based on the document that made America so great to begin with? There is no question that people need to be re-acquainted with our principles...so when the time presents itself, we must lead with the Constitution.. unless someone's got a better idea? i'm all ears..

Frankly, I find myself much less of a Constitutionalist than I used to be.

It's a fine document, and I'd like to see many elements of it incorporated into the founding documents of a new Nation. I'm past the point of blaming just the politicians ... but the problem is, then you're talking tens of millions of people who, like Green Lantern observed, are allowed to FK up life for others - because our system forces us all together. People who will never reconcile to live under the Constitution as it is written.

With numbers that big, I'm looking at a)never seeing the Constitution in effect, or b)a whole lotta killing, or c)a peaceful separation.

My hope is for some sort of peaceful split...but I can hardly imagine it working out that way. And sure, once given a fresh start with freedom-minded people, why not add a tweak or two to the Constitution to more securely and jealously guard freedoms.

Now, the question is geography..who goes where...

kingboo
Nov 14, 2011 - 11:44pm

by the way, no one considers

themselves a Constitutionalist until they are forced to ask themselves the question, right? In good times, it wasnt even a thought. Now people are starting to re-examine what they believe, if they ever believed anything at all....we are going to need some real leaders. Not the political scumbaggery we've been working with! Lol (ps: scumbaggery is mine)

"You are welcome to your own facts......but I can assure you others here can do their own research with google and pick their number ....here ya go however..."

As I said, we were talking about 10 mil in 60's. You're saying that Brzezinski came up with 20 mil, taking the political purges and adding everything else, including an orchestrated (and forced by Stalin) famine in the Ukraine, and everything else, right? I am still missing those 20 mil, to get 40 mil? Not only that, though. Here is your statement I was replaying to:

"Stalin destroyed 40 million in a matter of less than one year simply by defining them an "enemy of the state".......the army willingly executed them..."

Plus minus 10, 20, or even 30 million people? If you knew that Brzezinski was talking about 20 mil during the Stalin's era (purges, famine, labor camps, forced migration...) why would you write 40 mil during one year? That's what I don't understand.

BTW, I never liked Brzezinski. It was always my belief that the Wall would go down 4-5 years earlier, if not for him. I am talking about Carter's letters to Brezhnev, written and sent to Brezhnev before Carter was elected. but that's another story, Brzezinski, Pipes, and guys like them.

Add you to my ignore list ? Will do.

In parting, I have a few damn-dumb-yankee jokes but your inane rambling and "tongue in between the same cheeks" that Green Lantern mentioned beats them all. Please feel free to eat that biscuit you mentioned during your arrogant, failed, attempt a levity. The fact remains, I didn't vote for the gaggle of far left idiots we are now suffering under but you, Green Lantern and most of your ilk almost certainly did and still have absolutely no concept of the results of your folly. I guess ignorance is bliss to the "intellectually disenfranchised" and the "socially promoted". Enjoy your bliss. Adieu

Gold is on pace to decline for the sixth day in eight trading days, the guardian angel at $1764 and the incomprehensible gobbledygook associated with it gets the bazooka treatment for the umpteenth time.

Edelman and Nadler aside, every gold commentator on planet earth is scratching their head wondering WTF is going on as the ultimate safe haven gets slung overboard with regularity instead of being grabbed with both hands.

Posting a comment is kind of like....

Good morning all! Just read through the thread.

You know when someone is trying to get you to remember a song? The other day, my husband was trying to get me to remember a song. Oh, don't you remember this song? Here let me sing it for you...and he sings...uuuhhh, no. Don't know the song. For the life of me I don't 'get' it, so he sings louder and even throws in a few moves...lol no, I still don't know the song. So, he says I can't believe you don't know this song! I shoulder shrug and tell him that even though he 'hears' it, complete with music, doesn't mean that it comes out of his mouth the same way he hears it in his head. We had a good laugh over that, but he didn't give up trying to get me to remember it...eventually went to youtube...Ohhh, THAT song...

The moral of the story is.....

When a group of people who don't know each other, have never had communication other than by keyboard decide to 'communicate' their thoughts, sometimes it's like trying to get someone to remember a song...the words sound good in your head, but the interpretation by others gets lost in the translation.

I come here everyday and thoroughly enjoy the 'conversation'. While there have been a few posts that have caused me to blink and say ookkaayy or wtf?, I read those again to make sure I understand what they are trying to communicate. And if for some reason I think the poster is 'out there' or full of shit or just an idiot, I use the IU. Mostly when I read personal insults and name calling. Because, seriously...everyone here comes from all walks of life, different parts of the world, different experiences, different communication skills, different thoughts (and how cool is that?) yet...if/when the shtf...we are all in the same boat, right? And with that, we all have differing opinions and beliefs. That doesn't mean mine is better than yours or yours is better than mine, it means they are different.

It's also a little like city driving...the guy tailgating you is really starting to piss you off. He's trying to get around you, but no way you think, jerk can just slow down...only to find out he is rushing home or to the hospital because his kid got hurt in a baseball game...you never really know what is in someone's mind....not everyone has an ulterior motive...hey, don't you remember this song? It's open for interpretation.

My dreams of $40 silver by years end is going right down the drain.

I wonder if we could be seeing the beginning of a liquidity crisis that people have been talking about that will take gold and silver down with everything else with added assistance by the EE?

Maybe everyone needs to learn how to laugh a little. You have to be able to laugh a little at yourself especially in this environment.
