Softer PPI

Where was this data last month?

As we entered today, I fully expected a second, follow-up slam in the Comex precious metals. This had been the trend and, given that the PPI last month was used as the trigger to smash prices and drive them back below their respective 50-day moving averages, why shouldn't we expect the same outcome today?

But a funny thing happened on the way to the smash...the PPI came in lighter than expected....
