So what does "transitory" actually mean? Does it mean that CPI-measured inflation will soon revert back to 1% or does it mean that inflation will simply stop moving higher form here? The goalposts seem to be shifting today as the July CPI printed above 5%.

Let's start with the Merriam-Webster definition because we have to start somewhere. Words mean things, whether The Fed and its sycophant media likes it or not....
