Mickey Fulp is well-known and highly respected throughout the mining and exploration community for his ongoing work as an analyst, writer and speaker. I figured that he would be an excellent A2A guest and he didn't disappoint. Please take the time to give this a listen.

Over the course of this discussion, Mickey addresses many issues and topics, among them:

  • The ratio of gold to silver in the earth's crust
  • The average cost of production for gold miners
  • Why most miners failed to maximize profits between 2002 and 2012
  • The best places to mine and pan for gold
  • Some exploration companies that he follows closely
  • Rare earth exploration and mining

He also gives the most unique answer yet when faced with the traditional final question of "the final four". So, please take the time to listen to this recording. You'll be glad you did. It's full of helpful information.

p.s. During the call, Mickey references this post of his from earlier this year: http://news.goldseek.com/GoldSeek/1423059476.php  He also recommends you watch these brief videos:

my first first

I did buy some American Silver Eagles today at SDbullion.com.  They have them in ANY QUANTITY for spot plus $2.25.......with $7.77 shipping on any order.........a great deal........especially great since you can get that price on as few as one coin or as many as you want, without having to order 500 to get the great price.  I had never used them before today (usually use Provident), but thought since they had such a great deal that I would give them a shot.

Mickey wrong on one issue - first gold in US

In no way does my knowledge of mining compare with Mickey Fulp.  But he was wrong on the first gold discovery in the US.  It was not in South Carolina but Cabarrus County North Carolina at a site now called the Reed Gold Mine.  Just happens to be the county I spent my first 18 years in.  And the story is an interesting one you can find at the link below.

In some remote sites around the area you can still see the evidence of the diggings that occurred in the 1800s.  NC was the top gold producing state in the US until 1849.

One of these day's you'll learn and teach us all a lesson by taking the 1st, 2nd and 3rd (and 4th) spots all just for the fun of it laugh

Turd, Got my $'s Worth

Thanks for asking about Long Canyon... I was fortunate to invest in Fronteer Gold (got bought out by NEM).  I'm currently in Pilot Gold (PLG.TO), which is run by the same guy.  Very informative!

Just for fun...

Anybody want to look up the mass of the Earth and calculate how many tons of silver are in it at 50 parts per billion? I'll get to it later if nobody does. Edit: answer is 1.194 times ten to the 14th kilograms. That's 1.175 times ten to the 11 tons. Or 117,500,000,000 tons.

@Dr P

Hi! Doc that's a big backhand to the Turd. Heck I can't afford that much. Lol Only Kidding Turd

Marchas45's picture

Boy Mickey

Sure loves to talk about himself and deeds. I think he has the Turd beaten. Lol He reminds me of Pastor Williams. Lol don't get me wrong but I enjoyed the listen.

After all that listening I checked my miners and their still down 53% still no change there. Lol

Great guest

Thanks Turd,

I really enjoyed Mickey and the broad subjects he covered. Already subscribed to his newsletter. Look forward to his return to Turdville.

Platinum? Color blind people

Color blind people like me would probably sell it with the silver. Oh shit moment for sure!
The last platinum I saw had a premium of $100=

Mickey told it as it is..

I knew there'd be little response to Mickey's A 2 A today. He's not a big fan of silver and I'm sure that disappointed a lot of people here, most of whom are silver stackers. You can find out why by going to his site. I've followed him for many years and he's a no BS kind of guy. He's made millions by being smart and gives back to the precious metals community with a free web site. And people who follow him have done very well.

As Mickey stated, globally, there's no shortage of mineable silver...or gold...and with newer technology, uneconomical reserves 5 years ago could be very viable now.

And if I may suggest, rather than obsess on one or two metals, why not expand your investments into other metals such as uranium and strategic metals? Huge potential awaits.

I've noticed silly comments on various PM sites suggesting silver for example will 'soon' no longer become available because mining reserves are depleting and eventually physical will be unavailable..

That's the kind of BS which really hurts this sector ....and it's rife!! Do a Google check!

These people are responsible for destroying credibility in the precious metals, silver especially..

Here's an example:

Sorry if this pisses off anyone but that's the way I see things...

Furthermore, if folks here think they'll become rich by buying a couple 'monster' boxes of silver or a few rolls of Maples....I got some bad news...

earth's silver content

I just can't believe my eyes.  Do you REALLY believe that the earth's core, which contains MOST of the mass of the planet is mineable?  Your post implies that you do.

AND, who believes that deep, deep mines like those in South Africa can be duplicated just any old where, so that all those bazillions of tons of shiny will all hit the market sometime, uh lessee now, um next year some time.

Maybe I oughta copy your post and mel's, and send em to Jamie.  I just KNOW he'll have a face-palm moment when he reads em, and quick like bunnies, the monkeys will be dumping that nice JPM hoard within minutes.

After all, youse guys just got to be right.....right?

@ benque..

Just the mineable upper part of the mantle my Montreal friend..

benque's picture

Pardon me,

my homeless friend.

"Anybody want to look up the mass of the Earth and calculate how many tons of silver are in it at 50 parts per billion? I'll get to it later if nobody does. Edit: answer is 1.194 times ten to the 14th kilograms. That's 1.175 times ten to the 11 tons. Or 117,500,000,000 tons."

I believe the statement above includes the entire planet.  No "mineable portion of the mantle" qualification, I'm afraid.

I certainly hope you don't obtain all your metals investment research data from somewhere akin to the "geology for kids" website you referred to.

Thanks for posting the link about Reed gold mine.  I just moved to Greensboro and I've been looking for things to do, looks like a Saturday visit for me.

Turd & Mickey, great interview.

Re: Silver....How much is there????

We should look at the problem of how much silver there is from an "Economical to mine perspective".

Understanding Structures, Gold sources and movement

In this video an interesting geologist and prospector shows how to trace and identify surface gold back to the source.

Barfly's picture

of course I know it isn't all minable

The question was, how much silver is in the Earth, not how much silver is minable in the Earth or the money question of how much silver is economically recoverable. Those are all different questions. Talk about being taken out of context. Reading comprehension is your friend, benque. But it is fun for me to think about and would be an important number to know if you wanted to make an estimation of the answers to the two follow on questions.

My goodness Ned - that is very clever of you !  How did you work it out?

@earth's silver content Submitted by benque on April 30, 2015 -

I go with the geologist who is a 'cornucopianist' - one thing few people know, outside of earth sciences graduates, it that the earth's crust recycles itself - subduction zones take old crust down into the core to remelt, and new magma and crust is upwelling and uplifted - hence increased NEW deposits of minerals of all types. Volcanism and hot water flows dissolve and deposit new minerals too. Silver is tradeable on volatility, price, supply, and demand, interact to produce the movements, pure and simple. Buy low, sell high.

benque's picture

Agreed, but aeons long processes.  New mineable and economic silver deposits from any of these processes won't be available in our lifetimes, or perhaps even for 100k years or so (or much, much longer?)

By the way, and off topic, I see Richard Petty pushing gold bullion ownership on an informercial on TV this AM for The United States Gold and Silver Reserve Co.  Never heard of them before.

Another Great Interview

Thanks Craig.  I' m a math and science guy and I always enjoy precious metals discussions from that perspective.  Also, glad to here he is invested in a couple of companies I own through my Sprott broker.

It Has To Be Said

I very seldom respond to posts and try and keep my feelings to myself but as a Physical Silver Stacker I want to get the shit straight, why this Silver Stacker is Stacking and why others like myself are Stacking. not because, "He's not a big fan of silver and I'm sure that disappointed a lot of people here, most of whom are silver stackers." Why the need for that quote?????maybe you should get to know a true stacker and not a fortune seeker.

I'm Stacking  because it's not that there's a lack off minerals and such or how well endowed we are with metals and minerals (meaning the planet of course) I'm a little short in that category. laughand I'm sure as hell not disappointed by what Mickey say's but I rather enjoyed it. I did think he was a little bit full of it though. Like myself sometimes. Lol

Neither am I stacking for wealth (Can't speak for other so called Stackers), that's the furthest thing from my mind. A Little Pun (It's All Material friends along with all the toys I have and  including other assets which can be taken away from me in at a seconds notice) and if that happens so be it, I'll start over again with Gods help.

4 years ago I had this deep feeling inside of me which I still have it today, that there is something wrong in this world and that this strong voice is making me aware of it to get prepared for something that is going to be happening. I'm still not fully aware what's going to happen but I have an idea what it is but that's all I have, an idea.

That idea is happening all around me right now folks, anger, hatred, violence, theft, slavery, controlling, media propaganda, you name it, it's out there and it's getting fucking worse. Now Add CORRUPTION

My friends and Mel "I'm Stacking for Survival" to protect my family and friends and the biggest reason I come on this forum was to find out what I should be doing with my Physical Stack when the shit hits the fan (I'm getting some ideas but I wish I could get some from traders like Mel)cheeky. I know I won't be using  my stack right away, hell that's why I'm on here to fucken learn. I have been Stacking other things also that are going to help me Survive. Like food and all the other essentials, medicine, guns, gas, ammo, solar equipment you name it I may have it.laugh

Anyway I'm Stacking Because This Fucken World Is Going To Hell In A Handbasket and This Is My Opinion as To Why This Stackers Stacking. So To Hell With The Wealth and Give Me Gods Grace and a Safe Passage Through The Carnage.  God Now I Feel Better Keep Stacking
