Last evening brought the latest in the ongoing Ukraine discussion series of John Batchelor and Professor Stephen F. Cohen.

I'm posting this without having an opportunity to listen myself. However, given the importance of these discussions since February, I'm confident that the information last night was just as relevant as any past week.

If you're new to these conversations, more information on John Batchelor can be found here:

And some background on Professor Cohen can be found here:

EU Sanctions to Start in Days If Putin Doesn’t Comply, Finns Say

The European Union will start enforcing sanctions against Russia within days if President Vladimir Putin doesn’t comply with terms set in Brussels to de-escalate the standoff with Ukraine, Finland said.

Finnish Trade MinisterLenita Toivakka said her country opposes indefinite delays to the agreed trade restrictions.

“It’s clear the sanctions will come into force in the next few days, if Russia doesn’t do more than it has so far,” she said today in an interview in Helsinki. “A cease fire in and of itself is not enough.”

EU governments are meeting today to consider enforcing tougher sanctions against Russia as officials weigh the viability of Putin’s truce with Ukraine. The talks follow a decision to put on hold for at least a “few days” a second package of economic penalties against Russia over its incursion into Ukraine.

Finland has earlier aired concerns that sanctions, and a retaliatory food ban imposed by Russia, will hurt its economy. The Nordic country is most at risk in the euro area from a Russian economic slowdown, trade figures indicate.

“The sanctions spiral is dangerous,” Toivakka said. “We don’t know what industries would be hit by possible Russia counter-sanctions and the biggest risk is the uncertainty over how long the crisis will last.”

While Finland is struggling to assess the economic impact of a deterioration in ties with Russia, the government of Prime Minister Alexander Stubb has thrown its full support behind the EU’s sanctions, Toivakka said.

Poland sees sharply lower gas supplies from Russia

WARSAW (Reuters) - Poland said on Wednesday the volume of gas it has received so far this week from Russian gas monopoly Gazprom was down by at least 20 percent.

Some European countries believe Moscow may use a disruption of gas to Europe as a trump card in its confrontation with the West over Ukraine. The row has already dragged ties between Moscow and the West down to their worst since the Cold War.

Ukraine's gas transport monopoly Ukrtransgaz was quoted by a Russian news agency as saying Gazprom was limiting flows to Poland to disrupt supplies of gas in the opposite direction, from Poland into Ukraine.

Kiev is already cut off from Russian gas in a pricing dispute and depends on these "reverse flows" to supply homes and businesses with gas.

Gazprom made no immediate comment. Polish gas monopoly PGNiG said it was trying to find out why volumes were down.

There was no indication that any European Union importers of Russian gas besides Poland were affected.

Slovakia, a major hub for Russia gas exports to Europe, said volumes were steady, and operators in Hungary, Bosnia and Serbia said there was no disruption to their supplies.

The reduction in supplies appeared to focus on the Yamal contract, the main route by which Poland buys gas directly from Gazprom. That route includes two pipelines that pass through Belarus and one via Ukraine.

PGNiG said in a statement, on Monday it received around 20 percent less gas than contracted and around 24 percent less on Tuesday. It said customers had not been affected for now, and the missing volumes were being made up from other sources.

The Polish firm said the reductions in gas volumes were noted on the Belarus and Ukraine routes, but did not give a breakdown of how much gas was missing from each pipeline.

Igor Gorsky, a spokesman for Gazprom Transgaz Belarus, the Gazprom subsidiary that operates export pipelines via Belarus, said: "There have been no extraordinary situations from our side, or any maintenance work, which could have an impact on supply volumes."

A Historic First: Bank Of Japan Monetizes Debt At Negative Rates

First, Europe infamously shifted to a NIRP and now Japan has begun NIRP monetization. As WSJ reports, Tuesday marked another milestone in the topsy-turvy world of monetary easing in Japan: The Bank of Japan bought short-term Japanese government debt at a negative yield for the first time. In the understatement of the decade, one Japanese bank strategist noted, "The BOJ probably didn't expect this would happen, and T-bill rates staying negative should be a cause of concern for them." The BoJ's decision to scoop up these negative-yielding bills appears to confirm they will meet the QQE-buying demands no matter what the cost (to the Japanese people). The bottom line, the Bank of Japan is now implicitly issuing debt to the Japanese Treasury.

Top Russia Expert: Ukraine

Top Russia Expert: Ukraine Joining Nato Would Provoke Nuclear War

Posted by: George Washington

U.S and NATO Responsible for Ukraine Crisis … and West Has Agreed to Cover Up Details About Shoot Down of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17

Stephen Cohen is one of America’s top experts on Russia.  Cohen is professor emeritus of Russian studies and politics at New York University and Princeton University, and the author of a number of books on Russia and the Soviet Union.

Cohen says that the West is mainly to blame for the crisis in Ukraine:

This is a horrific, tragic, completely unnecessary war in eastern Ukraine. In my own judgment, we have contributed mightily to this tragedy. I would say that historians one day will look back and say that America has blood on its hands. Three thousand people have died, most of them civilians who couldn’t move quickly. That’s women with small children, older women. A million refugees.

Cohen joins other American experts on Russia – such as former U.S. ambassador to the Soviet Union, Jack Matlock – in this assessment.

Cohen also says that if Ukraine joins NATO, it will lead to nuclear war:

[Interviewer:] The possibility of Ukraine in NATO and what that means and what—

STEPHEN COHEN: Nuclear war.

[Interviewer:] Explain.

STEPHEN COHEN: Next question. I mean, it’s clear. It’s clear. First of all, by NATO’s own rules, Ukraine cannot join NATO, a country that does not control its own territory. In this case, Kiev controls less and less by the day. It’s lost Crimea. It’s losing the Donbas—I just described why—to the war. A country that does not control its own territory cannot join Ukraine [sic]. Those are the rules.

[Interviewer:] Cannot join—

STEPHEN COHEN: I mean, NATO. Secondly, you have to meet certain economic, political and military criteria to join NATO.

Ukraine meets none of them. Thirdly, and most importantly, Ukraine is linked to Russia not only in terms of being Russia’s essential security zone, but it’s linked conjugally, so to speak, intermarriage. There are millions, if not tens of millions, of Russian and Ukrainians married together. Put it in NATO, and you’re going to put a barricade through millions of families. Russia will react militarily.

In fact, Russia is already reacting militarily, because look what they’re doing in Wales today. They’re going to create a so-called rapid deployment force of 4,000 fighters. What is 4,000 fighters? Fifteen thousand or less rebels in Ukraine are crushing a 50,000-member Ukrainian army. Four thousand against a million-man Russian army, it’s nonsense. The real reason for creating the so-called rapid deployment force is they say it needs infrastructure. And the infrastructure—that is, in plain language is military bases—need to be on Russia’s borders. And they’ve said where they’re going to put them: in the Baltic republic, Poland and Romania.

Now, why is this important? Because NATO has expanded for 20 years, but it’s been primarily a political expansion, bringing these countries of eastern Europe into our sphere of political influence; now it’s becoming a military expansion. So, within a short period of time, we will have a new—well, we have a new Cold War, but here’s the difference. The last Cold War, the military confrontation was in Berlin, far from Russia. Now it will be, if they go ahead with this NATO decision, right plunk on Russia’s borders. Russia will then leave the historic nuclear agreement that Reagan and Gorbachev signed in 1987 to abolish short-range nuclear missiles. It was the first time nuclear—a category of nuclear weapons had ever been abolished. Where are, by the way, the nuclear abolitionists today? Where is the grassroots movement, you know, FREEZE, SANE? Where have these people gone to? Because we’re looking at a new nuclear arms race. Russia moves these intermediate missiles now to protect its own borders, as the West comes toward Russia. And the tripwire for using these weapons is enormous.

One other thing. Russia has about, I think, 10,000 tactical nuclear weapons, sometimes called battlefield nuclear weapons. You use these for short distances. They can be fired; you don’t need an airplane or a missile to fly them. They can be fired from artillery. But they’re nuclear. They’re radioactive. They’ve never been used. Russia has about 10,000. We have about 500. Russia’s military doctrine clearly says that if Russia is threatened by overwhelming conventional forces, we will use tactical nuclear weapons. So when Obama boasts, as he has on two occasions, that our conventional weapons are vastly superior to Russia, he’s feeding into this argument by the Russian hawks that we have to get our tactical nuclear weapons ready.

Former Polish president – and famed anti-communist activist – Lech Walesa agrees that the U.S. and Nato’s arming of Ukrainecould lead to a nuclear war

Cohen also notes that the West has entered into an agreement to cover-up what happened to Malaysian airlines flight 17, because Russia was not responsible:

The House voted to condemn

The House voted to condemn and disapprove of the President's irresponsible decision to release the Taliban 5 in exchange for the release of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. Because he did not notify Congress 30 days prior as required by law, the President broke the law, ignored the Constitution, and placed all American families at risk. These 5 terrorists were considered “high risk” and dangerous with extensive ties to al Qaeda. They have the blood of American soldiers on their hands and are fixated on destroying our freedoms. At a time when our brave men and women are still fighting the Global War on Terrorism in Afghanistan, this decision further places our heroes in harms way. A bipartisan group in the House overwhelming supported this bill, which holds the President accountable for placing our national security at risk.

Afghan Taliban Say they Won Big with Bergdahl Swap

A crisis in leadership had the Taliban demoralized and divided. The release of five of their top men from Guantanamo may have solved that problem.

Hold on there.

Calling this a "Free speech" issue is like calling the Patriot Act a great piece of liberating law. How patriotic is removing the bill of rights?

You got my attention on this one as I was ready to pounce on all the deems who vote for this. Doesn't this just attempt to reverse the "Corporations are People" ruling that the supreme court passed in 2010? Clearly we have a oligarch (corporations, for one, nefarious political groups for another, in this country. Businesses are not people. They are owned and ran by people. They need to be officiated and regulated and constrained by laws that protect all participants.....

Look at the GMO labeling debate. People who simply want to know what the hell they are eating put this on the ballot....then corporations, who for what ever reason they choose, outspend them 5-1 to shout over them and get enough of the sheep to believe that this will make the labels more add what? a minuscule amount of ink on the label....

I don't know if this is the answer, but I do know that we have no free press, as it is owned by the advertisers that support it, we have no free democracy, because the politicians are owned by the corporations that own them.....and then Jackasses like the bought and paid for fool (all the Senate??), Mitch McConnell get the sheep all lathered up by saying this is a free speech issue...The entire "idea" of the American democratic republic is that people, regardless of means, could have an opportunity to voice their thoughts, concerns, ideas.....what McConnell is saying is that you can speak, just no one will hear you, because those with the money will outspend you so severely that your voice won't matter a bit. Now shut up and take your vaccines, don't speak, eat the GMO's, buy insurance that won't pay, don't own a gun, and vote for the black guy, otherwise you're a racist, and support the counterfeiting Fed dollar, it's Patriotic and Bill Gates and the Koch Brothers paid billions to run ads to convince you of these truths. rant off.

Shanghai silver premium and backwardation spiking

This morning SHFE September was 4200, while Comex was around 3750, giving a premium of 450 yuan or around 12%. This is the highest it has been recently by a long way. Front month which goes off in a few days has gone up far in excess of the others, increasing backwardation to later months to much higher levels around 150 yuan or 4%. This looks like an early small scale local panic for physical. Chinese prices include VAT but of course VAT is not paid by smugglers, so the equilibrium point for West/East flows is well below 17%. This is OT I know but nobody appears to be discussing this, so thought it should be out there.

The SHFE board is here:

Connecting the PM and false flag dots . . .

Harvey Organ flat out stated that by the end of 2014, gold and silver will be bid to $10,000 and $200 per ounce respectively.

This because the west will have disengorged all its available (and cheap) physical, and will default on contracts still owed to China.

He says China will reveal its inventory, and put out high bids to buy gold from any seller, which of course will raise the price of all gold and silver in the world--including their own.

Assuming Harvey is correct, and he well may be, it surely ties in with the fast-track activities of the military/industrial complex in Syria, Libya, Ukraine, Iraq, etc.

It also explains their sudden discovery  and recognition of ISIS as the greatest threat to Americans EVER!  Never mind that ISIS is a ragtag bunch; they have been armed and led by the CIA, so indeed, they are likely to become the trigger to the next big event--which will usher in martial law, and allow Obama to make all sorts of new rules, including those to restrict PMs in some way.

The power elite are seeing their control and power seep away.  They cannot let go of gold/silver prices until the bitter end.  At that point, the DHS, DOJ, Social Security Admin., and Post Offices will uncase their guns to help enforce the new martial "emergency" law the bankers need to maintain control of wealth and power.

I encourage everyone to take the time to read the Project for the New American Century. It's clear, if you see who signed this and supported it, why we are where we are, and who these people are and who they play for. It is not you.
Listen to Wesley Clark's speech in 2007, when he talks about the Middle East and Russia and "cleaning up those old Soviet strongholds...."

I've thought, "why are they moving so fast? And why do the breadcrumbs always lead back to that Jim Willey reference to that Country in SE Mediterranean? And then you read PNAC and it all makes sense...just why so fast?

Because the clock is running out. If ..and that is a big if...Harvey is right and the end is nigh, the US will be running on fiat fumes come Jan...and guess what? Those entities around the world that rely on us to fight their wars will be in deep we have to pull away because we can't afford it and we have bigger fish to fry....and then their barbarians will have very little resistance to overcome. Read PNAC. Want to know why we are in the Ukraine? Just do a little homework on Victoria Nuland, coincidentally wife of a PNAC signer. I'm shocked, shocked I tell you.

Do you know what Citizen's United is about? The question was whether the Constitutional Freedom of the Press to address electoral issues only applied to the corporate media:

Citizens United’s challenge to federal regulation of electioneering communications should be sustained, and this Court’s decisions in Austin v. Michigan State Chamber of Commerce, 494 U.S. 652 (1990), and in McConnell v. FEC, 540 U.S. 93 (2003), as applied to BCRA section 203, should be overruled. Both decisions endorse an erroneous view of the freedom of speech that conflicts with Citizens United’s freedom of the press.

Contrary to the assumptions in Austin and McConnell, the freedom of the press does not confer a special privilege upon the institutional press, but is enjoyed by all the people. Austin’s and McConnell’s narrow reading of the press freedom is not only contrary to history, but at odds with new realities of journalism.

BCRA section 203 violates Citizens United’s freedom of press by: (1) establishing a licensing system; (2) operating as an unconstitutional previous restraint; (3) intruding into the editorial function; (4) imposing discriminatory economic penalties and burdens; and (5) forcing the public disclosure of the names and addresses of authors and publishers.

Because Austin and those portions of McConnell upholding BCRA section 203 violate these free press principles, they should be overturned.

Dick Cheney's 9-11 "memo to Barack" . . .

From Dick Cheney – Citizen at large

 Dear Mr. president,

As we approach the 13th Anniversary of 9/11 ~ it becomes increasingly important that I remind you of your promise to us, before you were sworn in to the presidency, to not allow any investigations or revelations to come to the surface regarding 9/11 ~ at the risk of breaking our trust and our continued support of the ongoing 9/11 cover-up.

We’re watching you closely, Barack and I’m becoming increasingly uneasy by recent revelations which may indicate that your support and pledge regarding this massive cover-up may be wavering ~ particularly since your presidency will soon be coming to an end and the continued human rights pressure to close Guantanamo.

As George and I told you (obviously behind closed doors and inquisitive ears) we’re all in this together and one unreliable high level official link brings this whole criminal endeavor crashing down on all of us, including yourself, and eventually will lead to public humiliation, trial and jail.

Once again, the American public will never forgive all of us who were involved in this false flag operation but particularly those in authority who knew of this national betrayal and never exposed this treasonous act ~ and now that also means you, Barack.

Of course, I have taken great pains to cover my tracks on this endeavor either by rendition, torture or indefinite imprisonment at Guantanamo ~ but my tracks are not indelible which is the reason for this confidential note and reminder. Of course, my firm Halliburton, made $30.5 billion as a result of no-bid contracts, gross overcharging and worker exploitation during the invasion of Iraq but that’s the way the game was played in Iraq (chuckle)

However, It has recently come to my attention that organizations like Veterans Today have stumbled across my fingerprints on our secret plan to steal American Nukes ~ specifically W-54′s ~ which of course were eventually used in the 9/11 false flag operation. This is hitting very close to home and must be sidetracked immediately or we’re in deep doo-doo !

Here’s the VT report that also also mentions my name which concerns me greatly  ~

VT: “Our IAEA sources reports: The W-54 warhead has a large, high quality oblong plutonium pit.  400 of these weapons were made for use in nuclear artillery and other weapons with design variations allowing vastly different output from the same basic design. The W-54′s were placed in military cold storage after 1986 and they were retired in 1993 by Bush 41. They were then written off the books during the Clinton era 1994-2000 and allegedly disposed of by converting them into MOX (multiple oxide as used in Fukushima) fuel at the Savanna River complex. The Savanna River recycling plant had and still has serious security and safety concerns for decades.

‘Someone’ or ‘some people’ at a very high level simply did a paper work switch and shipped the non-destroyed pits out the back door. The thefts started under Clinton and ended under Bush2. Cheney controlling it under Bush 1 and 2. Richardson (a “rabid  Zionist”) at DOE under Clinton.” See report ~

How did VT get access to that secret report and it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the only high level person capable of making that paper switch decision was me which makes me even more nervous ~ which I don’t need now with my brand new heart.

Get on this, Barack ~ before it gets completely out of hand !

When I say we’re watching you ~ that is not a passive statement  for no one is indispensable in this cover up (as you already know) and we will move deadly fast, as we have before, if we feel our trust has been betrayed.

Our whole Way of Life (as Tony Blair is so fond of saying) is at risk and you don’t want to be the person responsible for bringing down that house of cards or should I say Potemkin Village (chuckle).

Remember, Barack ~ as I have publicly said many times, you have to give up your liberties to keep your freedom and you should be maintaining that mantra with the American public before they wise up and bring us all down ~ note I said us, Barack ~ we are all in this together ~ you can’t pin it all eventually on my administration, Oops, I mean George W’s ~ who still doesn’t realize that he was a pawn in our PNAC grand world scheme. (He still won’t return my calls and is now evidently writing poetry along with his crude water colors, God awful but I digress)

One other thing, Barack ~ it appears the public is closing in on the far more specific 9/11 investigative report, the one issued by the intelligence committees of both houses of Congress, entitled “Joint Inquiry into Intelligence Community Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attacks of September 11, 2001.” Those infamous blacked out 28 pages were assumed to relate to our well known Saudi connections but some pesky reporters like Justin Raimondo made the correct assumption that those missing pages verified Israeli complicity in 9/11~ which of course would eventually lead to my role in that operation.

And that loose cannon Bibi almost let the cat out of the bag while speaking to a conference at Bar Ilan University in 2008, which was very direct as to Israeli involvement. As reported by Israeli news outlets Ha’aretz and Ma’ariv: “We are benefiting from one thing, and that is the attack on the Twin Towers and Pentagon, and the American struggle in Iraq,’ He reportedly added that these events ‘swung American public opinion in our favor.’”   See report ~

I repeat, Barack, the release of those 28 pages cannot be allowed to happen ~ so far we have kept a lid on this through AIPAC pressure but with the upcoming 13th 9/11 anniversary looming within a week, you must consider this an emergency!

If the public fully knew of our connection with the Zionists regarding the planning, execution and cover-up of 9/11, my goose would be cooked but so would yours, my friend. (Yes, my friend, since both of us know and are aware of things that could destroy the presidency ~ we are reluctantly joined in our common effort to maintain the status quo at all costs) George W also knows this and it has driven him into seclusion ~ if not senility. (chuckle)

Bush hugging President Obama in gratefulness at 2008 inauguration ( Please protect me, Barack )<img class="size-full wp-image-319548" alt=" Bush hugging President Obama in gratefulness at 2008 inauguration ( Please protect me, Barack ) " src="" width="521" height="236" />

Bush hugging President Obama in gratefulness at 2008 inauguration (Please protect me, Barack)

Actually, Krugman got it half right in 2009 when he wrote ~ ” Let’s say this slowly: the Bush administration wanted to use 9/11 as a pretext to invade Iraq, even though Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. So it tortured people to make them confess to the nonexistent link. There’s a word for this: it’s evil.”  See his column ~

The secret deeper intent, that Krugman missed or more likely ignored, was that we demonized and attacked Iraq to distract the American public and cover our tracks regarding our high level involvement in 9/11 ~ that’s why George W can’t sleep at night and why I still keep talking tough and waving the flag ~ Take my warning seriously, Barack ~ too much is at stake here and we are not only watching you but we are ready to take any action necessary to maintain this charade.

Lastly, a good offense is the best defense for our 9/11 skullduggery, keep talking about bombing Syria, War with ISIS and demonizing Russia (even though that’s all another lie) ~ in other words keep pressing the FEAR button ~ it worked with 9/11 and that’s why Guantanamo is still open for business but closed for human rights inspection. As I said on Fox in 2009 ~ The important thing to understand here is that the people that are at Guantanamo are bad people. I mean, these are terrorists for the most part ~ even though we have never proved it ~ (chuckle and sneer).

The American public can be controlled by fear and the last thing it needs to hear is the TRUTH about 9/11. As long as there’s the general perception that the real 9/11 conspirators are in Guantanamo we’re home free ~ but if those 28 pages are released to the public our unholy alliance with the Zionists regarding 9/11 will open up Pandora’s Box and our ass is grass ~ Do I make myself clear ?

Patriotism is our last refuge as it is for all scoundrels ~ so wave the flag on 9/11 and praise our human sacrifice on that day and also pray that no one looks to deeply into that black hole of American history ~ for if they do, they will eventually connect all the dots and you and I and many others will become a sordid reminder of evil and what went wrong for America at the turn of this century.

China is no rush for a stronger/gold backed Yuan, in fact they purposely keep the Yuan weak to stay competitive in the global economy.

China buys US dollar and US bonds to reduce them and support the dollar, this is called cooperation and manipulation of the Yuan and dollar.

Maybe in other generation China will prefer a stronger currency, but today they are in no hurry to compete in the global economy with a stronger Yuan, tens/hundreds of millions of Chinese workers would lose their jobs.

The unbalance of trade will continue for longer than most would expect, not much that anyone can do about it.

It occurred to me that maybe the main thing that helped turn the tide in the rebel counteroffensive is if some of the "drivers" of those humanitarian convoy trucks were in actuality Russian military command personnel (captains, colonels, generals) that stayed in Ukraine and helped the rebels to plan and coordinate their counteroffensive. Moreover, potential rebel command personnel could have returned to Russia in their place for special training... Did anyone stamp convoy personnel passports upon entering and leaving Ukraine? Silver Sooner...?

Ukraine and imminent western crash . . . Nielson

"In the case of the puppet-governments of our (so-called) “Western democracies”; these regimes have now been so thoroughly hollowed-out from decades of looting by the One Bank that complete economic collapse is not only inevitable for these corrupt regimes – it is very imminent.

For proof of this, we need only to look toward one of the greatest vultures in the modern history of our markets: Warren Buffet. Eighty-three-year-old Buffett, the (so-called) ultimate “long term investor” has currently pulled more of his Berkshire Hathaway capital out of our markets than at any other time in Buffett’s illustrious(?) 40-year career at the helm of Berkshire Hathaway.

This mountain-of-money now exceeds $50 billion – more than the total GDP of most nations. Long-term investors only pull their money out of markets when they expect “a correction”. They only pull a lot of money out of markets when they expect “a crash”. And they only pull the most money ever out of markets when they expect the Mother of All Crashes.

Not only do we thus know (with certainty) that Warren the Vulture is salivating in anticipation of the worst economic collapse seen in (at least) the last half-century, but being 83 years old, we know that Buffett does not expect to have to wait much longer for all the bubbles to pop.

With total economic collapse in the United States (and thus throughout the West) now having been telegraphed in our markets; many pundits (outside the Corporate media) have been expecting the oligarchs who control the One Bank to manufacture another war – and one large enough to hopefully (in their minds) conceal their own financial mega-crimes.

We now have a formal “declaration” of such a war, albeit a declaration framed in the most tortured, convoluted manner which the propagandists could devise. At times such as this; those who still consider themselves “citizens” need to heed History’s greatest warnings:

All that is required for the triumph of Evil is for good men [and women] to do nothing.

-          Edmund Burke (1729 – 1797)

Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

-          George Santayana (1863 – 1952)"

Summary of the military events in Novorossia as of 09/07.

Summary of the military events in Novorossia as of 09/07/2014

Last night at the front Novorossia passed under the auspices of the so-called "truce" which is actually not a truce at all.

The security forces continued to shell the outskirts of Donetsk using artillery and mortars. This fact is far from being the first fact that points to violating the peace protocol signed in Minsk by the Ukrainian side. Over the day the AFU violated the agreement about a cease-fire more than 10 times.

Besides shelling housing blocks in Donetsk, the units of the NAF located near the city were also shelled. The activity of the Ukrainian security forces on the Mariupol direction was also reported. Here the security forces attempted to pull military vehicles towards the city in order to help the forces thatare blockaded in Mariupol. Movements of "Grad" and "Smerch" were reported. Furthermore, the headquarters of the NAF report that movement of several tens of armored vehicles of the AFU was noticed in close vicinity from the settlement of Debalcevo.

The Nazis actively place their detachments into those settlements where their groups were weakened. The fascist detachments started to show up even in those places where they weren't present before. Some detachments are provided with the weapons from NATO countries (weapons made in the USA). Enemy forces are rotated. Furthermore, the Nazis open fire on settlements too. For example, today the Kiev fascists shelled the settlement of Spartak using artillery.

Events in the DPR

Mortar shelling continued on the outskirts of Donetsk, the Ukrainian military once again violated the terms of the cease-fire agreement.

The Ukrainian army continues to perform mortar strikes on Donetsk.. During the previous night shelling was recorded in the area of the settlement of Spartak. It is also known that artillery shelling was also carried out in the outskirts of Mariupol.

Additional forces of the Ukrainian military were redeployed towards Mariupol, including the first operational brigade of the National Guard.

The AFU detachments broke the cease-fire regime seven times. In particular, it was broken in the areas of Yenakiyevo, Ocheredino, Veselaya Mt., and Yasinovataya.

Airport – the AFU fired on the Oktyabrsky district. Combat involving small arms unfolded in the area of the airport by the evening. One militia fighter was wounded.

Donetsk – was subjected to mortar shelling by the AFU from the side of Svetliy Put'.

The area of Avdotyino – a breakthrough by the group of punitive troops towards Donetsk. The composition of the group is being clarified.

Khartsyzsk – a militia checkpoint was fired upon.

Settlement of  Krasnyi Partizan – was subjected to an attack by the "Aidar" battalion. After their retreat the punitive troops subjected the settlement to a strike from the MLRS "Grad".. 10 civilians were wounded (the data is being clarified).

Settlement of Olkhovka - a militia checkpoint was fired upon. One fighter was killed.

Information about fighting inside the city arrived during the day. By the evening it became known about the AFU use of the MLRS "Uragan" against the settlement of  Frunze.

Events in the LPR

On the Lugansk direction the front line remained effectively unchanged.  No information was received about shelling Lugansk.

The AFU continue to pull forces into the area of the settlement of  Schastye.

The AFU abandoned the settlements of Privetnoye, Pankovo, Stukalova Balka, Svetloye, Oboznoye, and Khristovo.

Also the AFU are in the process of withdrawing their military from the still occupied settlements of Markovka, Novopskov, Belovodsk, Novoaidar, Severodonetsk, Starobelsk, and Svatovo.

The City Councial of Lugansk announced the start of restoring the infrastructure of the city on the official website. "Preparations are under way to restart the supply of electricity, repair the damaged electrical wires," – says the announcement of the city council. According to the messages from the residents, the night in Lugansk was calm. The sounds of gunfire couldn't be heard in the city.. However, the city still has no water and no communication.

A convoy of Ukrainian vehicles passed through the settlement of Krasnaya Polyana (DPR) towards the station Zachatyevskaya at 13:10 MSK.

43 units. Tanks, self-propelled artillery mounts, trucks, and buses with personnel. The infantry was also present on the armor.

Cannons were towed.

32 new tanks arrived into Debalcevo.. 15 "Shilkas" (self-propelled AA gun) accompanied by thirteen tanks, seven "Tochka-Us", six "Grad" vehicles, and one "Smerch" vehicle arrived into the tank depot in Artyomovsk. (in Russian) – link

PS. I would like to add that Surkov arrived into Kiev to meet Poroshenko on the background of the "truce" . Such a meeting was expected, because sooner or later the "expert consultations" and backstage doings had to lead to some more official meetings, although this time the fact of meeting became known from the snippets of information that leaked. Of course, at this time there is no information on what exactly Surkov and Poroshenko were discussing.. (in Russian) - the online-broadcast on the "Voice of Sevastopol" for 09/08. – the junta sabotages the exchange of POWs.

Note from the translator: see the earlier article by M. Litvinov for more information about the 1st operational brigade of the National Guard. Essentially, this brigade is supposed to be the newly trained junta's infantry that is actually capable of prolonged urban warfare.
