US Mint Sells More Silver Than In Most Months Of 2011

In the first few days of 2012, the US mint has already sold 4.3 million ounces in silver coins. This is more than in all individual months of 2011 except for January and September, when the mint sold 6.4 million and 4.5 million ounces. Is the retail love affair with physical silver coming back with a vengeance?

Let sleeping pigs fly.

So dumb, can't get over it.

Debt swaps are not a new idea.  Via a debt swap, the creditor country cancels a debt at its nominal
value. In return, the debtor invests part of the cancelled amount in development projects according to
conditions previously agreed by both parties. In the 1980s debt swaps were widely used, particularly in
emerging economies. The main aim of these swaps was to encourage private investment through the issue
of equity in publicly owned enterprises. Debt swaps have been less frequently used in recently years but
have re-surfaced on the agendas of some donors as one way of financing the Millennium Development
Goals set down in the United Nations’ Millennium Declaration.

This is my favourite bit.
Predictability and durability: Swaps must be predictable and programmed over the long term in order to guarantee their effectiveness and to enable better budget planning. In this regard, counterpart investment funds such as those agreed between Germany and Peru are a model to aim for.

Ya. And we all know how deep economies were in the shitter in the early 1980s.

There's all this talk about markets mirroring 2008, but i've also noticed some similarities to the 1980s economic crisis (S&L and emerging economies).

Silver 28.50

Silver needs to not close under 28.50...because that would completely nullify any notions of a test to mid 32s as earlier identified.

This is really proving to be whipsaw territory, though stability at this level (29.70s) would only affirm that the 32s target will be reached.

This post by Shill on Main Street does nothing to assure a second day of UP.

Absolutely. As 80s as Revenge of the Nerds.

Sound familiarish...?

After  the fall  of  the  Berlin Wall  and  the subsequent collapse  of  the communist  block,  Poland  began
renegotiating  its  bilateral  debts with  the  Paris  Club. Once it  achieved  the cancellation  of  50%  of  its bilateral debt, the Polish government proposed the creation of an independent fund.

Oh boy, more bad news yet again.  2012 silver production outlook cut buy just under 28%!  Stock getting assaulted in pre-market, down almost 16% last I checked.

rumor

GoldandOil guy mentioned a rumor of QE 'announcement' set for Friday? Didn't know about the inference. Could well be a buy the rumor and sell the news event. Will probably be looking short for tomorrow-Friday then.

Anyone else confirm this?

Rightly put.

As I see it:

- Euro double bottoming @1.2650-70

- Silver mucking around down to 29.50-30 maybe.

- Gold holding well @ 1630-32

Not a buy nor a sell in sight, unless like me you like picking dips.  Could be proved completely wrong in T-5, but hey, I'll be asleep ;)

Double top

reporting a small double top on the H4. Entry could also be at 29.30s if more discount is needed.

The USDX is up 0.33, that's big with capital letters for you?  I have found that the metals stop correlating when the USDX or the Euro muck around at levels for too long.  I believe that we will need something much bigger than this one way or the other to actually have any effect these days on the metals.

SIM, My screen shows as much

SIM,

My screen shows as much as .5, so, yeah, that's non-trivial.  Two weeks ago, any upward move in the USD caused the PMs to crater--people here were predicting the end of all gold...

This change is significant.

Pumping

Lots of pumping going on over at local cheerleading canteen, KWN.

Even brought out Rod McEwen. He showed up in a flak jacket and heavy metal helmet. Took quite alot of incoming ordinance last year. Surprised he is able to crawl out of the foxhole.
