What the hell happened with ATAC? Very nice!
Eric O's Favorite Gold Miners
The Yukon came alive today with ATC and KAM leading the pack, but a lot of the smaller ones had good gains as well. GPD forgot to get out of bed.
Yes, what a jump in the Yukoners yesterday! I was on board with KAM, but also noticed ATAC, Northern Tiger, and Taku on fire. Not so much on Ethos, Ryan, or Golden Pred though. Still, a good sign that the group is maybe coming out of it's funk.
And how about Keegan? Yippee! zman, was that you buying all that stock? LOL, you swing a big stick there buddy! Just kidding. You said you got on board a couple days ago. Well played sir!
So again, here I sit on the rally, trying to decide what to sell, not so much on what to buy. Been schnitzeling off little bits here and there, raising some cash, yet my balance in the miners stays flat to up. That's a happy feeling! ![]()
Update on progress at Young - Davidson. Exciting stuff! Well, at least to a gold miner geek like me it is!

Yesterday there was an update on the Monument Bay project. The move to outline an open pit deposit, instead of what had previously been pitched as a strictly underground project makes it more appealing to me.

Looks like the CEO got canned. Never a good sign.

Funny that you mention Gryphon Gold...as it is one of the deletions from "the list"!!!...

Yup, it's a goner for me too. Sold out last week.
Claude confirms the closing of the St. Eugene buyout, thus consolidating 100% ownership of the Amisk Project. They say they'll update the 43-101 and do a Preliminary Economic Assessment on it in 2012.
I've been wondering if some of the weakness in Claude recently was due to this. Maybe we can get this behind us now and move forward.

It's looking like my hunch may be correct. Claude has run up 7.9% since this news.
I actually added to my position yesterday. I guess we'll know more after the conference call on Mon.
They still have the property and the infrastructure so I think they will be fine going forward and the knee jerk sell off was just an event to be taken advantage of. On the other hand John Key seemed to be well liked and respected as ceo so there obviously was a difference of opinion somewhere along the line.
No, I haven't. But Rick Rule is always talking about how this is a tremendous way to go, if you can get access to it. See his latest KWN interview for an idea of what he's talking about.

Typically, from what I've seen, for the price of a share you get a share, and a warrant. The "free" warrant is the "carrot" that is necessary for these tiny companies to raise money.
My only advice is that you make sure that this is a company/project that you believe in on it's own merits, regardless of the warrant. I would not let my money get suckered into something iffy, just because they are dangling the upside of this "free" warrant in front of my face. If it goes down, it's going down, warrant and all.
I bet BOG might have some more insight into this.
Good Luck!
Of course, there are those wheeler dealers, who are into this kind of stuff, who are selling the warrants and/or the stock as fast as they can, or selling short stock and keeping warrants, or whatever. This is a shark tank that I have no interest in getting involved in either. And again, I bet BOG can tell you some stories about these guys as well.
Sometimes, it seems like some of the games that go on with this stuff almost guarantees that the common stock is doomed from the start. Just ask BOG about Joe Dwek.
After spending 1/2 an hour typing out a post...it was wiped out & lost...when the system went down again!...I won't bother to retype again!...What you have said...pretty well covers it!...
Thanks Eric!!!...

Yes, Keegan making some nice gains, sometimes we get lucky with the timing!!! I got my dad into TME and ME a few weeks ago, and now he is happy, thanks to EO and BOG I added some nice names to the portfolio, looks like the people that read these boards are going to make some big bucks down the line.
Just a few weeks ago many were praying for break even on some of their stocks, swearing to sell and never owning this stuff again, too funny.
Spending time writing something out and then loosing it is irretating as hell.
Now when im writing some longer stuff I always write it in google docs and then copy it for posting.
So if the net chews it up I have a copy and can try again.
for that!
Close to a year ago, I first pointed to this junior mining index used as a benchmark for Van Eck’s GDXJ junior mining ETF. See : A junior gold mining index. Back then, the index was managed by the German firm “4asset-management”. Recently Van Eck took over the index calculation.
In the rest of the blogpost, I go into the index composition and a benchmark of MVGDXJ relative to the XAU.

Announced new resource calculations, and says underground development is underway.
1.9 million ounces of underground, and another 1.0 million of open pit. The stock is up 35% YTD. Too bad, so sad, that I never bought any. ![]()

They just raised a tidy $200M to continue advancement of their big project. Nice!

surges 10% on above average volume on a mostly down day for silver miners. Is this a foolish effect?
Interesting press release and conference call today.
Bottom line.........some things weren't being done right, causing downtime and delays so the ceo was sacrificed.
All is being rectified and we are looking good for the future. No need for financing as stockpiled gold can be sold and cash is coming in.
There is actually some intelligent discussion on Stockhouse if anyone is interested.
