Eric O's Favorite Gold Miners
Love what you did with the short miner synopsis. Thank you for all your hard work. I own a few of these and appreciate your input. I have been reading (OK, my husband says I am addicted) and trying to learn from all the great people on this site. I think it's amazing how all the different personalities shine through. Most everyone reads and listens to the same commentators, analysts, etc but I have never come across any mention of Nadeem Walayat, the editor of the Market Oracle. He does the most amazing analysis including the Dow. I hope Ra Ra reads him as he again today has given serious warnings re Eurozone banks. I have a tendency to trust NO ONE but when I discovered him about three years ago I read through all his work and found him to be right on the money. I hope you find his work of value re your investing in this insane market. Oh yes, it's a free site and you will find lot's of familiar analysts on it, but he is the best!! Thanks again.
Just checking in as I woke at 3.30 am GMT. Yawn. Thanks EricO, all that work appreciated. A few on that list that I would like to own. Makes me realize that my portfolio is just gathering dust and not managed or pruned. The movements in the miners can appear to me so random and there are so many unknown unknowns that I am holding to wait for the rising tide to lift most of them. I have sold out in frustration a few times to miss a 50% pop. But there again I have also kept hold when I could have banked 100%. Tempted to trade at the highs and lows of MACD like some do, but I don't think that suits my personality.
Foxtrot, I read Nadeem Walayat and think he's pretty good. Yawn.
Great effort ,Eric. Million Thanks for that.
MVP Forum. right there.
Thank you for all you do here- fabulous stuff. I have my own personal style of trading miners, and a special group of these will be put on a list and taped to my computer. If/when we have a serious downdraft, I will be backing up the truck. Gracias, amigo!
Outstanding!!
Thank you for taking the time to do this.
how valuable i think your contributions are to this site! thanks 4 the update bro!
i aNNounced to the speak a few wEEks back that i decided to get out of the paper market....weLL almost ;o)
i have kept a handfuLL of these jr/jr explorers you and BoG have shared w/ the town. nothing over $1 a share, they wiLL be my paper play as we enter into this hyperinflationary 2012 and beyond.
as to your question in the speak about $20 Au premiums, they are down, way down due to the price of Au over the prices a few years ago. XF or leSS we are paying melt at best. AU+ caRRy a premium and then low mintage brings some aDDed fiat. slaBBed tOO increase the price. i think the vf/xf unslaBBed are some of the beTTer values in large Au coins right now. i got one back in early oct, a 1924D in xf i think almost au for 1700 when Au was around 1650. these deals are out there. i continue to have my fiat waiting for these to show up in the LCS. 20 US or mexi ~~ everyone knows when those come acroSS the table to hold them back for me ;o)
Just wanted to say thanks to Eric for taking the time to post this miner info. You've given me a lot of good leads to research that were not on my radar. I was wondering, do you have an opinion on Taseko Mining at $3? The downside seems limited from here and the upside could be a double if they get their Prosperity project approved next year. I made some good money on it the last time it got beaten down this much. Thanks again for sharing your list.
Super duper stuff Eric once again, many to add to my own list. I find it so hard to keep the energy level to follow all the names when they are been trading lower for over 1 year now, but the opportunity is just amazing at this point. Somehow when the shares are going higher my energy level also moves higher!! It's been a tough year for the folks in this sector, but we all know it's a matter of time before the next blastoff. My dad is almost 70, he wants to see it sooner than later!!!!
Great job Eric. I'm familiar with everyone on your list and appreciate reading your comments on each one.
Now all we need is the EricO Junior Producer's Index...............LOL.
:)
Thanks for your outstanding work
I am overweight on 3 of your eight
Claude, Wesdome (got in recently with the $100M crash), and Golden Band
Wesdome all the credit to you.
Claude and Golden Band you provide great confidence and support for my buy-in decision in this down market
Eric,
I've spent a lot of time owning and following a couple of stocks you mentioned under the junior category.
Kimber Resources (KBX) is showing signs of life after dipping below 1 last week (.96). Check the charts for the last few years and you will see this one rocks and rolls periodically. I think we could be into another upswing. Also, Agnico-Eagle did, indeed, put its head of Latin American operations on the board in the past few months.
Evolving Gold (EVG) is another story -- serial disappointer. And you mentioned their team, well, star geologist Quinton Hennigh no longer is on the team, supposedly because they were tired of his spending on deep holes in Carlin that didn't produce high-grade samples. Even so, the stock has been beaten down so badly, it's probably a candidate to run some once tax-loss selling abates. But it's going to be a tough slog upward.
I think Kimber is a strong buy here, with good potential to $2 (it was over $2 earlier in 2011) and maybe even $3 (it's been there years back, too) under the right circumstances. Evolving Gold probably would be lucky to hit .65 or .70 barring dynamite results from the second half of its Rattlesnake Hills (Wyoming) drill results that are yet to be announces (that's where it is JV partner with Agnico-Eagle) and/or big news from Nevada drilling.
Thanks for your all-inclusive update. I've been watching Wesdome for some time, and the trigger finger is itching.
Thanks for the list, Eric.
Many familiar names in there, though I'm not following all of them. Quite some common picks too (would be peculiar if there weren't any).
Check out my technical view that I put out on Main St. It's one thing to watch charts of individual miners, but I think the big money comes when the whole sector turns. Get ready. ![]()
Eric,
That was an incredible roundup! Truly appreciate the work here.
You should become a spokesman for the gold industry. They couldn't pay you enough for your knowledge and enthusiasm.
Anybody listening out there? ;)
I'll be strolling back over to claim my usual stool at the SpeakEasy now. It's comfy. You know how a favorite chair starts to conform itself to your butt? Yup.

Never heard of him, but it sound like I'll have to check it out! Thanks for stopping by.
