Socks and underware, and other gifts of kindness

God bless all who comment here.

Pure and loving hearts, really do abound upon the earth, please share Your's here.

I thought I might attract some positive energy if a vessel was created to collect it.

A bulletin board for simple or profound, fluffy or considered, expressions of light and freshness.

Stories of an uplifting nature or poems, or humor, or silliness, anything really that brings a smile or a warmth to an otherwise troubled cold world.

A gentle forum of blessings given and received.

Holy Scriptures, spiritual topics, welcome, if delivered in the spirit of respect and cordial discourse.

Manners please.

A happy place of inclusion, a place of ease to banter or inform with considerate and gentle demeanor.

I hope some will participate, and spread goodwill generously.

Thank You for reading, grab a lemonade and luxuriate in our fine hammocks, as the fragrant ocean breeze fills your senses.

"And he will have subjects from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the Earth." (Psalms 72:8)

"After these things I saw and Look! a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes, and there were palm branches in their hands."            -( Rev7:9)

"Likewise let your light shine before men, that they may see your fine works and give glory to your Father who is in the heavens". -( Mat. 5:16)

"Rather, store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."-(Mat. 6:20,21)

Socks and underwares? (sic)

My favorite gifts, received on gift giving occasions, have always been new socks, and boxers that fit.

Truly thoughtful pragmatic gifts, seemingly, always timed right at the moment of dire need, holes wearing from two into one, and elastics drooping, bunching and dropping into nether regions.

Crisp snappy waist bands locking into that elusive perfect waist region.

Socks, when applied stretch upward to perfect shin position, and stay there all day.

Heaven!

All the while, surrounding toes in a firm loving embrace, adding support and bounce to the step.

Marvelous, simply Marvelous.

Thanks, Mom!

Love Yah.

For whom the bell tolls

No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manner of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

Forgiven

I found a little beetle; so that Beetle was his name,
And I called him Alexander and he answered just the same.
I put him in a match-box, and I kept him all the day ...
And Nanny let my beetle out -
Yes, Nanny let my beetle out -
She went and let my beetle out -
And Beetle ran away.

She said she didn't mean it, and I never said she did,
She said she wanted matches and she just took off the lid,
She said that she was sorry, but it's difficult to catch
An excited sort of beetle you've mistaken for a match.

She said that she was sorry, and I really mustn't mind,
As there's lots and lots of beetles which she's certain we could find,
If we looked about the garden for the holes where beetles hid -
And we'd get another match-box and write BEETLE on the lid.

We went to all the places which a beetle might be near,
And we made the sort of noises which a beetle likes to hear,
And I saw a kind of something, and I gave a sort of shout:
'A beetle-house and Alexander Beetle coming out!'

It was Alexander Beetle I'm as certain as can be,
And he had a sort of look as if he thought it must be Me,
And he had a sort of look as if he thought he ought to say:
'I'm very very sorry that I tried to run away.'

And Nanny's very sorry too for you-know-what-she-did,
And she's writing ALEXANDER very blackly on the lid,
So Nan and Me are friends, because it's difficult to catch
An excited Alexander you've mistaken for a match.

Robert William Service
My Guardian Angel by Robert William Service
When looking back I dimly see
The trails my feet have trod,
Some hand divine, it seems to me,
Has pulled the strings with God;
Some angel form has lifeward leaned
When hope for me was past;
Some love sublime has intervened
To save me at the last.

For look you! I was born a fool,
Damnation was my fate;
My lot to drivel and to drool,
Egregious and frutrate.
But in the deep of my despair,
When dark my doom was writ,
Some saving hand was always there
to pull me from the Pit.

A Guardian Angel - how absurd!
I scoff at Power Divine.
And yet . . . a someone spoke the word
That willed me from the swine.
And yet, despite my scorn of prayer,
My lack of love or friend,
I know a Presence will be there,
To save me at the end.

Old Farmer

I was late for work a couple of Mondays ago, when loading the truck, I noticed the front tire was low.

Hrrmph. Just what I needed, now I was going to be even more late and still had a long drive.

So much for coffee.

I arrived at the gas station in town to find the air hose frozen.

No time for coffee, now I'm getting real grouchy, I drive to the next town pull in and gas girl, says their's isn't working today.

So I back track, to the air pump at the other fill up station, that requires coins.

Somebody is parked crooked in front of the air pump, I squeeze into the adjacent spot, and have to fight with the door to get out without hitting the crooked parker's truck.

As suspected the air pump needs coins, I fish into my pocket, none. I fight with the door again to check the console, none. I dig My wallet out, and figure I'll go in the store and buy a coffee and get change.

No cash in the wallet.

So blood pressure rising, I figure I'll have to drive to the bank for cash, to get change buying a coffee, so I can fill my tire and get to my long drive ahead.

Arrggh, as I go to get back in my truck this old farmer, 80, if he's a day, smiles as he climbs into his crookedly parked truck, and starts it.

Now I'm scowling because I can't get into my truck cause we both have big trailer hauling mirrors. So I wait, starring at this poor parking farmer, thinking is he ever going to back up.

He old, so he's moving slowly to put his seat belt on.

I lose patience and figure if I collapse the mirror on my truck I can get in while he is being old.

I attempt to do this and while I am wrestling, with my door he powers down his window and asks, do you need some change?

Stunned, out of my shit I'm really late, and no coffee grump fest, I respond yes I do.

Well being old and a farmer, he pulls a weathered old paw out of his pocket full of change and asks what do you need?

Sheepishly, I reply a dollar, Smiling, the nice old farmer hands me a dollar change.

Well did I feel a shit, all wrapped up in my own rushing around, no coffee misery.

I thanked him profusely and thought to myself what a nice thing for him to do.

Folks, there are really nice people in this world still, and this simple act of kindness, snapped me out of the mood I was in.

I calmed down and slowed down, and smiled.

The rest of the day was truly pleasant, spent appreciating the kindness of strangers, my hot coffee and the lovely scenery on my long drive.

God bless that old farmer.

Foggy....

[Verse 3: Greg Porn]
I’m sitting on top of the world ready to jump off
Thinking of various ways to break law
Thinking that enough is enough but still I want more
Thinking of how I’m playing with fire that burned my young boy

By any means necessary… don’t give a damn
So every night I’m on a flight that never lands
Be an asshole when the shit hits the fan
(Or bet your life on a bluff and a bad hand)
Can’t win, can’t lose
Get ‘em gassed leave em leaking fuel
Either way the market moves
Cash rules kings, queens, prince and princess
Every night I’m crossing a line that ain’t the finish
Every thought is dark as a glass of fucking Guinness
Too far gone to come back to my senses
Now I’m on the edge of my bed making love to my meds
Every moments like a pistol to my head
When I’m getting mine

When reading the words above this morning, I appreciate the depth and truth they contain.

A sad commentary on the prevailing mind set, of our current society and the present system we all exist in.

The song writer has an excellent grasp of the current world view of the rulers and the men of wealth and power.

These 'Ones', manipulate and form the values, they hold dear, and inundate,  Mass media, T.V., Hollywood with their chosen, roll models.

They design societal norms and values to follow these materialist temporal goals, held up as happiness and something, therefore to be sought after.

They worship 'Mammon', money, wealth and power.

The soulless pursuit of MOAR.

I know this cannot be sustained, as the few gain at the expense of the many.

This is the opposite of righteousness and love thy neighbor, disposition of wealth in the hands of the 'top tier' can only be sustained through Walls and Locked doors.

Freedom from walls and locked doors can only be achieved when happiness abounds.

In short verse GP, paints the picture, the 'Image', of the inner thought, the battle of right and wrong traipsing through the stunted consciousness of the vacuous souls, given over to mammon.

They have traded true happiness, for an image of happiness, I pity them.

Sermon on the mount

When he saw the crowds he went up into the mountain and after he sat down his disciples came to him; and he opened his mouth and began teaching them, saying:

Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need, since the kingdom of the heavens belongs to them.

Happy are those who mourn, since they will be comforted.

Happy are the mild tempered ones, since they will inherit the earth.

Happy are those hungering and thirsting for righteousness, since they will be filled.

Happy are the merciful, since they will be shown mercy.

Happy are those pure of heart, since they will see God.

Happy are the peaceable, since they will be called the 'sons of God'.

Happy are those who have been persecuted for righteousness sake, since the kingdom of the heavens belongs to them.

Happy are you when people reproach you and persecute you and lyingly say every sort of wicked thing against you for my sake.

Rejoice and leap for joy, since your reward is great in the heavens; for in that way they persecuted the prophets prior to you.-( Mat 5:1-12)

Another socks person

There aren't many of us.  (Maybe not though.  I never thought I would encounter another socks connoisseur at TFMR.)  Nobody has a problem deciding what to get me for Christmas or my birthday.  A well made pair of socks or some great pajamas or great underwear.  Putting on a good pair of socks guarantees my day will get off to a good start.  When I was a callow youth, (Now I'm a callow old person.) I couldn't understand why a woman needed to own thirty pair of panties.  As usual, they (women) figure it out long before we do. We all need some luxuries once in a while and being a cheapskate I'm lucky that mine are inexpensive.  Speaking of panties, the only thing you did wrong was not posting on the Main.  That would have been a daring display of chutzpah and the panties of the topic police would have been seriously bunched.  You would have risked a lynch mob but it would have been a hoot.  But then, who am I to talk, I didn't dare do it.

Mom

Socks and underware seems a silly title for a form.

Thinking about why I started this thread and why I choose to call it what I did, I came up with two reasons.

Mothers are usually the source of socks and underware, mom passed away many years ago and I miss those thoughtful gifts.

I miss her kindness, and count my blessings for the years we had together.

The other reason was simplicity, socks and under ware, the most basic, practical of gifts, usually under appreciated at the time of unwrapping, effecting a "socks again" moan, eye roll included.

We have all done it, haven't we?

Well, as time passes our lives change, we grow old, friends and loved ones leave this world for the next, leaving bittersweet faded memories, faces floating behind closed eyes.

It gets harder and harder as time passes to call up the faces, straining, to remember the warmth of a hugs, the scents of perfume, the din of laughter and smiling eyes.

I can't buy, unwrap, or pull on new socks, or underware without thinking of Mom.

Her memory springs to mind, her loving smile and big brown eyes, no pursed lids or squinted eyes required.

For Her blessing I thank, the the lord.

      Apostle Luke

"And a certain ruler questioned him, saying: "Good Teacher, by doing what shall I inherit everlasting life?"

"Jesus said to him: Why do you call me good? Nobody is good, except one, God.

You know the commandments,

Do not commit adultery,

Do not murder,

Do not steal,

Do not bear false witness,

Honor your father and mother." -Luke ( 18:18,19,20)

Notice what Jesus said? "Nobody is good, except one, God"

Now I'm am not an expert in scripture, but what occurs to me, is not that Jesus is not pure, for he was sin free.

But, that honor must go to the Father, sacred service must go to God.

We are all born into sin, we are not good, but we can refine ourselves, try to live a good life, we all stumble, we are imperfect after all, but try to follow the Loving Father's laws, as best we can.

If we try to correct our failings sincerely, and make an effort, salvation is gifted by God through Jesus Christ.

God knows your heart better than you do, so if you seek God, humbly, in contrition and ask for salvation, He will hear you.

We may whiten our robes washing away sin, through Jesus Christ's blood, for Jesus died to save all nations and tongues, all mankind.

Adam was a perfect man who sinned, Man's redemption could only be brought about through Jesus Christ's sacrifice, another perfect man.

This was the ransom price required, God so loved mankind, He gave his only begotten Son as payment to redeem fallen man.

All men, as we are all seed of Adam.

         Apostle Paul to the Romans

"Or is he the God of the Jews only?  Is he not also of the people of the nations?  Yes of the people of the nations also,"-Ro(3:29)

The ones knowing the laws and following them in Christ, but also the ones not hearing of the Almighty's laws, for how can one be judged under the law if they are not knowing of the law?

"For whenever people of the nations that do not have law do by nature the things of the law, these people, although not having the law, are a law unto themselves.-Ro(2:14)

"They are the very ones who demonstrate the matter of the law to be written in their hearts, while their conscience is bearing witness with them and, between their own thoughts they are being accused or even excused."-Ro(2:15)

ref. Ro(26, 27,28)

"But he is a Jew who is one on the inside, and his circumcision is that of the heart by spirit, and not by written code. The praise of that one comes, not from men but from God." -Ro(2:29)

These ones shall be judged by God according to their hearts and the laws written there through God's divine spirit , all peoples of the earth shall be saved through Jesus's ransom sacrifice and the undeserved kindness of God.

"Happy are those whose lawless deeds have been pardoned and whose sins have been covered; happy is the man whose sin Jehovah will by no means take into account."-Ro (4:7,8)

"For all who are led by Gods spirit, these are God's sons."-Ro(8:14)

"For you did not receive a spirit of slavery causing fear again, but you received a spirit of adoption as sons, by which we cry out: ABBA, Father!"-Ro(8:15)

"The spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are Gods children."- Ro(8:16)

So all reading here, discern salvation to everlasting life is possible with an honest heart and righteous conduct.

God bless you all.

God bless you, Mom
