Growing up the,  people that I hunted with threw .22 shells into the campfire or woodstove to wake people up.

Traping

I have not trapped since being a teenager.

I used to boil the #2 or #3 traps (small critter) traps in walnuts  to die the steel black.

Catch fish and bury them for a few months  in a mason jar for bait.

Set snares for rabitts and pouch with the compound bow.

Skining

When you skin the hide.  Assuming you caught and left the body there and have the "pelt"  you need to get wire frame

depending on the animal   The hard part is slicing the fat off from the hide.  Any holes in the pelt will bring  less $.

Drying

You can keep the fur and add salt to it to cure it then make clothing from it .  I made some gloves and hats.
