Executive Order - preparation to confiscation and more?

Basically, it is mobilization.

In short, among many other things: "The authority of the President ... to require acceptance and priority performance of contracts ... to allocate materials, services, and facilities as deemed necessary or appropriate to promote the national defense, is delegated to the following agency heads:
(1) the Secretary of Agriculture with respect to food resources...
(2) the Secretary of Energy with respect to all forms of energy
(6) the Secretary of Commerce with respect to all other materials...
The Secretary of each agency ... issue regulations to prioritize and allocate resources and establish standards and procedures ... under both emergency and non-emergency conditions.

So, let's see... Start another war, make it an impressive one (oh well, lose an old carrier "in action"), invoke this power while the public is in shock, and... just shut down any market you want AND confiscate the phyz in the name of victory, then take your time until things calm down cause there is no reason to rush things.

Am I missing something? Is it really that simple now?

Don't get too excited

This was nothing new. Obama  just rubber-stamped a 60-year old piece of paper.

To quote from Business Insider:

"It's based in part on the Defense Production Act of 1950 ... The Act has been reauthorized and passed through Congress many times, most recently in 2008 by President Bush, who had previously re-authorized it in 2003. President Clinton did the same in 1994."
