Pan American Silver Corp. (PAA-T22.85-2.17-8.67%) is poised to boost production in mineral-rich Mexico through the proposed $1.5-billion acquisition of Minefinders Corp., a fellow Vancouver-based company with an aggressive growth strategy.

Pan American, the world’s second-largest primary silver miner, is offering cash or shares - or both - for Minefinders, owner of the Dolores silver and gold mine in northern Mexico and the nearby La Bolsa property set to begin production later this year.

Pan American said its deal values shares of Minefinders (MFL-T14.282.7824.17%) at $15.60, a 36-per-cent premium to its Friday closing price of $11.50 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

MFN shareholders may acquire about a third of PAAS using the 2nd proposed deal: 0.55 shares of PAAS + C$ 1.84 per share of MFN. It kind of reminds me the acquisition of Red Back by Kinross, though MFN has a producing mine (not merely a mineral reserve, the way Tasiast was.)

So how do other MFL/MFN

So how do other MFL/MFN holders here feel? Cash, shares or a mix? Does PAA really look as attractive as some other producers here?
