China wants a "Comprehensive National Gold Strategy"

"China must recognize gold’s strategic value and its position as a wealth reserve tool"

Qiu Shi: Establish and Implement the Chinese Gold Strategy

Written by RWZ and AEF

Qiu Shi, a magazine by the CCP Central Committee, recently published an article discussing China's strategy on gold. The author emphasized the importance of establishing and implementing a national strategy: (1) China must recognize gold’s strategic value and its position as a wealth reserve tool; (2) Domestic gold mining and manufacturing should be considered as the primary approach in developing China’s gold reserves; (3) The government should actively invest in China's gold industry and push the development of the domestic gold market.

The author suggested that gold plays a strong role in enhancing social and financial stability. China has been the world’s largest gold producer since the year 2007. The article concluded by calling for a comprehensive national gold strategy to be designed and used to guide China into becoming a stronger country.

Silver Manipulation

GATA’s Chris Powell: ‘CFTC Has Been Told the Silver Manipulation is a US Gov’t Operation’

Powell responded that
Bart Chilton as you mentioned said ‘there hasn’t been a decision yet’. I don’t expect the CFTC to come up with anything here, they’ve been going on with this for almost 4 years, if they couldn’t find something by now they’re not going to find something.
I think they have been told, finally, candidly, the silver manipulation is a US Government operation.

Obama’s College Classmate: “The Obama Scandal is at Columbia”

From The Blaze.com on Monday…and Drudge Report:

By Wayne Allyn Root

I am President Obama’s classmate at Columbia University, Class of ’83. I am also one of the most accurate Las Vegas oddsmakers and prognosticators. Accurate enough that I was awarded my own star on the Las Vegas Walk of Stars. And I smell something rotten in Denmark. Obama has a big skeleton in his closet. It’s his college records. Call it “gut instinct” but my gut is almost always right. Obama has a secret hidden at Columbia- and it’s a bad one that threatens to bring down his Presidency. Gut instinct is how I’ve made my living for 29 years since graduating Columbia.

Obama and his infamous strategist David Axelrod understand how to play political hardball, the best its ever been played. Team Obama has decided to distract America’s voters by condemning Mitt Romney for not releasing enough years of his tax returns. It’s the perfect cover. Obama knows the best defense is a bold offense. Just keep attacking Mitt and blaming him for secrecy and evasion, while accusing him of having a scandal that doesn’t exist. Then ask your lapdog Senator Harry Reid to chase the Frisbee. The U.S. Senate Majority Leader is now making up stories out of thin air, about tax returns he knows nothing about. It’s a cynical, brilliant and vicious strategy. Make Romney defend, so he can’t attack the real Obama scandal.

This is classic Axelrod. Obama has won several elections in his career by slandering his opponents and leaking sealed documents. Not only do these insinuations and leaks ruin the credibility and reputation of Obama’s opponents, they keep them on the defensive and off Obama’s trail of sealed documents.

By attacking Romney’s tax records, Obama’s socialist cabal creates a problem that doesn’t exist. Is the U.S. Senate Majority Leader making up stories out of thin air? You decide. But the reason for this baseless attack is clear- make Romney defend, so not only is he “off message” but it helps the media ignore the real Obama scandal.

But I have the answer for Romney. A challenge that shuts up Obama forever.

It’s time to call Obama’s bluff. Romney should call a press conference and issue a challenge in front of the nation. He should agree to release more of his tax returns, only if Obama unseals his college records. Simple and straight-forward. Mitt should ask “What could possibly be so embarrassing in your college records from 29 years ago, that you are afraid to let America’s voters see it? If it’s THAT bad, maybe it’s something the voters ought to see.” Suddenly the tables are turned. Now Obama is on the defensive.

My bet is that Obama will never unseal his records- never…EVER. Because they contain information that could destroy his chances for re-election. Once this challenge is made public, my prediction is you’ll never hear about Mitt’s tax returns ever again. End of story.

But why are the college records, of a 51 year old President of the United States, so important to keep secret? I think I know the answer.

If anyone should have questions about Obama’s record at Columbia University, it’s me. We both graduated (according to Obama) Columbia University, Class of ’83. We were both (according to Obama) Pre-Law and Political Science majors. And I thought I knew most everyone at Columbia. I certainly thought I’d heard of all of my fellow Political Science majors. But not Obama (or as he was known then- Barry Soetoro). I never met him. Never saw him. Never even heard of him. And none of the classmates that I knew at Columbia has ever met him, saw him, or heard of him.

But don’t take my word for it. The Wall Street Journal reported in 2008 that Fox News randomly called 400 of our Columbia classmates and never found one who had ever met Obama.

Now all of this mystery could be easily and instantly dismissed if Obama released his Columbia transcripts to the media. But even after serving as President for 3 1/2 years he refuses to unseal his college records. Shouldn’t the media be as relentless in pursuit of Obama’s records as Romney’s? Shouldn’t they be digging for Obama’s dirt with the same boundless enthusiasm as Mitt’s?

The first question I’d ask is, if you had great grades, why would you seal your records? So let’s assume Obama got poor grades. Why not release the records? He’s President of the free world, for gosh sakes. He’s commander-in-chief of the U.S. military. Who’d care about some poor grades from three decades ago, right? So then what’s the problem? Doesn’t that make the media suspicious? Something doesn’t add up.

Secondly, if he had poor grades at Occidental, how did he get admitted to an Ivy League university in the first place? And if his grades at Columbia were awful, how’d he ever get into Harvard Law School? So again those grades must have been great, right? So why spend millions to keep them sealed?

Third, how did a poor kid pay for all these fancy schools? If he had student loans or scholarships, don’t American students need good grades to maintain student loans?

I can only think of one answer that would explain this mystery.

So here’s my gut. I believe Obama got a leg up by being admitted to both Occidental and Columbia as a foreign exchange student. He was raised as a young boy in Indonesia. Did his mother ever change him back to a U.S. citizen? I’m betting not. He was abandoned by his mother and sent back to Hawaii to live with his grandparents. No one was paying much attention to young Obama, so his citizenship was never changed back. But suddenly as he nears college-age Obama learns that foreign students have a much easier path being admitted to U.S. universities. And even more amazingly, they get loads of aid and scholarships to attend college for free- something unavailable to U.S. citizens.

So a plan is hatched. Obama uses his Indonesian passport and citizenship to get into college. Suddenly even Ivy League Columbia University is a possibility- for a foreign student from Indonesia. And it’s all paid for by the taxpayers.

That would explain how a poor student who rarely attended class and got mediocre grades, and with no money, was able to get accepted and pay for Occidental, Columbia and Harvard Law. The door magically opened for a foreign student with an exotic background.

The sad reality is there is some U.S. student- a Valedictorian of his or her school- who never got to go to Columbia or Harvard Law because Barry Soetoro took their place.

That would also explain the great mystery of how in the summer of 1981 Barry Soetoro was able to travel to Pakistan when no U.S. citizen was allowed to travel there. Did he use his Indonesian passport?

Of course a foreign student isn’t qualified to serve as President of the United States. So that secret had to be sealed and covered up for the rest of all time. In 2007 everything happened so fast no one could even ask questions…ask Hillary! That explains why a sitting President of the United States would spend millions of dollars in legal fees to keep his past sealed.

If you could unseal Obama’s Columbia University records I believe you’d find that:

A) He rarely ever attended class.

B) His grades were not those typical of what we understand it takes to get into Harvard Law School.

C) He attended Columbia as a foreign exchange student.

D) He never paid for either undergraduate college or Harvard Law School because of foreign aid and scholarships given to a poor foreigner like this kid Barry Soetoro from Indonesia

And lastly, why do his classmates at Columbia not remember Obama? Was he a ghost? Did he never show up at class? My educated guess is that he was too busy smoking pot, attending Marxist meetings, and plotting the destruction of the U.S. economy and the overthrow of capitalism. Don’t laugh. It’s working.

If you think I’m “fishing” then prove me wrong. Open up your records Mr. President. What are you afraid of?

If it’s okay for U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to go on a fishing expedition about Romney’s taxes (even though he knows absolutely nothing about them), then I think I can do the same thing. But as Obama’s Columbia Class of ’83 classmate, at least I have more standing to make educated guesses.

It’s time for Mitt to go on the attack and call Obama’s bluff.

Oh and one more thing Mitt. Tell Harry Reid you’ll release all of your tax returns when Harry Reid releases all of his. Inquiring minds want to know how Harry Reid entered the U.S. Senate with no assets and became one of the wealthiest United States Senators?

Growing up hungry in Greece

Growing up hungry in Greece

The changes in Greek society are clear on the streets. Social workers say some poor Athens neighborhoods are experiencing close to a humanitarian emergency.

“People are beginning to starve,” said Aglaia Konstantakopolou, who works at a soup kitchen and social center in downtown Athens originally planned for refugees. “Mothers come begging for diapers, milk for their children or food,” he added. “Two years ago, you never saw anything like that.”

Teachers say children often show up to class hungry. Many skip classes to eat breakfast at charity shelters, Konstantakopolou says.

The physical strains are producing psychological effects, especially among younger children who often blame themselves for the effects of the crisis.

“When parents can’t buy clothes or toys, children believe they’ve been bad and are responsible,” child psychologist Salemi Parrisia said.

There are reports of growing numbers of malnourished children collapsing at school and suffering health-related phobias.

Although cuts to social services are partly to blame for those dire developments, some children’s advocates say Greece’s notorious bureaucratic inefficiency is even more responsible.

UNICEF Greek director Ilias Liberis blames “structural weaknesses” among a profusion of overlapping agencies for harming efforts to protect children.

“There are many different services and organizations helping children,” he said, “but no central coordination.”

However, public anger over austerity, corruption and the failing economy has drowned out calls to reform child services.

Already one of Greece’s poorest cities, the western port of Patras has been badly hit by the crisis. The city council estimates the number of poor has more than doubled in less than a year.

At the city’s Greek Orthodox cathedral, employees at a soup kitchen prepare daily basic lunches of beans, olives and fruit.

“The number of people who come begging grows every day,” says cook Konstantina Nikolinakou. “We made food for 30 people before the crisis. Now we serve 120.”

She says there is never enough for everyone. “We can’t chase them away.”

Outside the soup kitchen wait 38-year-old Maria Papanikolaou and her 11-year-old son Petros, hoping for leftover scraps. A former accountant, Papanikolou fell on tough times when the company she worked for closed last September.

“When I grow up, I’ll take my mother far away from Greece,” said Petros. “I promised her we’ll go to an island where I’ll be a fisherman. So we’ll have food to eat and be happier than now.” <Rest of the Article>

I have avoided options and futures since the collapse of MFG. The only real fun is to trade them in size however, when your account can be stolen overnight, trading in size is no fun, either.

I am not worried about option defaults at this time and I currently have a very tiny option position. If you've been following the site, you know that I bought a Dec $35 silver call back in early July, a Dec $40 silver call in late July and an Oct $1700 gold call that I bought last Thursday. That's it. Three measly options.

I'd like to go bigger but that would betray not only my word here at TFMR but my own sensibility.

Next up, I might sell my gold call and buy a corn call before the crop report on Friday. Of course, I'll keep everyone posted.

The first of Many

The waiting for the big breakout and the silver investigation maybe tied together. Bart keeps giving later and later dates for the conclusion. This in itself is not unsurprising however maybe he needs the breakout to force JPM's hand in that if there is a big increase in price they will have to do something fraudulent to deal with it and the tracking process is now in place to record and get the evidence needed.  If JPM suspect this, they can avoid it by extending the pennant for as long as possible and preventing significant deviations from here this also relates to forcing the CFTC's hand by encouraging the FT piece.

I recollect a video posted end of May in which he states 2-3 months or earlier (End of Aug). Now it is Sept or early Oct.

Crop report

I believe the true condition of the corn crop will be hidden (like the BLS numbers) until after the election, or maybe October (before consumer prices can spike).  That is, of course, if a futures market even exists by this fall.

Advice TURD

You would be crazy to sell that 1700- call in Gold.

That is a great position from where we sit at this point. You may have an opportunity in corn however the premiums are so inflated now,I don't think that is a wise move at all.You bought your option when gold is near the bottom and going into the strong seasonal period in the fall.

Don't want to discourage you, really just trying to help you make a rational decision. We are speculators afterall brother!

I have been trading corn futures the past couple of weeks, just skimming at night and early morning. The time to buy options was 2 months ago, definitely not now!

Stick with The GOLD my friend!

Hate Group attacks 82% of voters

The so-called "right to pray" amendment to the Missouri Constitution passed by the kind of margin rarely seen in election referendums.

The measure's supporters said the amendment — called Amendment 2 on the ballot — will protect Missourians' right to pray in public.

"This was misleading in its presentation and possibly unconstitutional in its application, so now we're headed for the courts," said Karen Aroesty of the Anti-Defamation League of Missouri and Southern Illinois. "We'll let the next branch of the democratic process do its part, and I suspect a case will be on file pretty soon."

Journalists and unnamed sources

If I understand journalism (and I think i do, but I always welcome more education from my colleagues), then I'd suspect that the FT silver story was a fabrication manufactured by someone with something to gain. The CFTC may well drop the investigation (with a gun to their back), but it is interesting to gage the tone of Chilton's email to several of you as well as the tone in this comment from Steve Adamske: "“we will decline to comment because the commission has not decided a course of action on this matter.” Since he is the official CFTC spokesman, then that is the official word thus far. (click here for the story in a new window--see also ZH this morning). So why did the FT report such a controversial story, and why now?

With confidentiality laws in this country, a journalist can publish anything legally with only the senior editor knowing who that source was. And what is to keep a legitimate source in a corrupt CFTC from lying? Nothing. Lots of people are close to the investigation in that office. The journalist is not even at fault! Just reporting what the "unattributable" source informed her.

And what does Turd know that we don't know? Is silver left-handed? What is about to hit the news that required a fabricated story and margin decreases. I cannot wait. I think jaynutter and silver monkey are onto something with all of the Witch's overconfidence and Turd knowing something.
