"Off Main Street: The SpeakEasy/BackRoom"
I'm still ploughing (happily and educatively) through IS7's the 7 wonders of the Ancient world. I never would have thought the statue of Zeus at Olympus was make of ivory.
Monday saw me at a terrific golf course in searing 100 degree heat with humidity to match. had a great day out and shot a respectable score. In between, been watching The Olympics as I am sure many others are too.
I believe this is covered in "The road to serfdom"
The well-intentioned statists who don't have the stomach for the brutality brought on by their beliefs drop out, retire, find other lines of work. Only the cruel remain.

Who knew #Romney foreign policy chops would make @SarahPalinUSA look like #Kissinger? #AngloSaxons #Olympics #PalestinianCulture #ShoveIt
I would love to be a campaign manager for a Presidential Candidate or Senator. Of course, I have no such experience. But if in a dream Ron Paul called me up and said can you help me, I'd fire everyone of his handlers. I would be like a bull in a China shop readdressing his campaign strategy.
The fact is the best ideas don't get a person a elected. It's only the person who runs the best campaign, puts on the best show, panders to the fears and emotions of people (security, hope, change, la la la). Provides aphorisms on the best issues. I mentioned yesterday, Romney hasn't even put out an economic platform.
There is no way that this country would ever elect a person who adheree's to the constitution and believes in sound money. That being the fact, you don't run on those issues. You first get yourself into office and then you take a hatchet to the institution. This president would only have four years and so the less this person is seen in public probably the better. Because he'd probably be assassinated in two.
I've been waiting to see if a candidate would come along that understand that people can't handle sudden change. It must be done subtlety. So when a reporter asks what is your view on defense? You say big. As big as possible. It doesn't mean you ever have to deploy them or that the defense will be like the fathers believed, to protect your own borders.
This isn't lying. It's just how you deal with imbeciles.
Today I bought a boatload of DXD, double short Dow. To hedge off a chunk of my other longs. I'm still net long, but not so much. I anticipate being disappointed by the Fed tomorrow. They may need some pain in August before they pull the trigger at Jackson Hole, or at the Sept meeting.
If I'm wrong, and we get big time QE tomorrow, and everything explodes to the upside, well...Fuck Me. That's what that pile of physical is for.
I'm thinking about starting a new business
Thanks for the concert. EO, while you waiting on your bet on the DOW, I suggest watching the Springsteen concert.
