Turd Talks Metals
Today is a great day in Turdville!
As you know, the question has been: How do we expand this site and expand our reach while keeping TFMR the friendly (and free) community that it has become. I considered several options. Ad revenue alone wasn't going to do it and I didn't want to cordon off a sections of TFMR as subscription-only. The best solution I found was to develop a "sister" site. Today it goes "live" and the address is:
http://www.turdtalksmetals.com/
I recognize that a subscription-based site is not for everyone and I don't expect everyone to join (though that would certainly be nice
). I do think, though, that the two sites will complement each other. TurdTalksMetals will allow members some new "premium" features such as occasional conference calls with me and others in the metals "industry". It will also feature webinars and chats so that members can have direct access to some of the biggest names in metals and the daily "comments string" will be largely non-moderated and threaded so that members can efficiently discuss the events of the day. The additional revenue that TTM provides will help to compensate me for what has become a full-time job. It will also allow TFMR to grow, remain free-of-charge and provide funding for events such as the hoped-for "Turdapalooza".
Please consider joining TTM. We've priced it as affordably as possible and my plan is to make it the most informative and interactive precious metal-related site on the internet.
Thanks again for making all of this possible.

Monedas and Traffic Circles !
I'm a true believer .... in general .... and especially when it comes to traffic circles ! They are round like coins and have pretty gardens and statues inside ! They are enviro-friendly and don't use electricity ! You don't have to change the stop lights to blinking mode in the wee hours .... it's happy hour all day ! Bums can't easily get to and from the green zone ! Work for food losers and panhandlers who wash your windshield with urine de-icer can't approach your stopped vehicle ! They are not hitch hiker and high jacker friendly ! Most litter works it's way to the outside for easy clean up ! Not easily covered by security cameras ! Fewer skid marks ! The more daring, creative, aggressive driver gets a leg up on the timid ones ! The best thing since wheel chair curb cuts ! No "Diamond Lanes" for government worshippers ! No tickets for California stops and not stopping behind the line ! Head on collisions are less likely ! T-bone collisions from people who run the light are rare ! Less fuel is consumed idling ! Saves time and lowers stress ! Less wear and tear on the brakes and cluthes ! If you forget to turn .... you get another chance the next time around ! It's harder for police to pull you over ! Motorcycle police are too busy watching their asses to notice what you're doing wrong ! If anyones knows of other reasons .... please send them with a donation to: Monedas 1929 Comedy Jihad Shovel Ready Traffic Circles Stimulus Package Inc.
I did consider that.
I'll just wait for feedback from the other turdites. I'd rather trail then buy, not buy to trial. I have wasted too much money in the past following hype only to be poorer and disappointingly unenlightened.
Oh that's simple, don't see Springsteen then
Problem solved. Next.
Re: Just looking for a thought
@SilverFocker
Appears to me that any big news, as a default, is at least initially portrayed as metal negative. Anything that could cause a loss of confidence in the system, in this case a perceived loss of "free" healthcare, is likely to trigger an intial response to sell the metals. Heck, I'd bet that mushroom clouds appearing over Syria would knock gold and silver down at this point, at least initially.
Big news, important speaker, bad economic data, the New York open/close, London fix/close, anything and everything is a reason for metal prices to decline. It really is amazing prices rise over time like they have. And that must really annoy the "approved reality creators" no end.
Turd Talks Metals
... and Eric King has some competition at last.
Turd, just don't worry about interviewing Eric's regular guys, apart from Rickards, who doesn't seem to appear on Eric's blog these days
@IndigoStar7
I hope I didn't sound like a complete bummer for that was not my intention. I'd like to see the sight thrive and I support the idea that Turd deserves compensation for his time but $15/m, $140/m is a hefty price tag to just follow one issue/one perspective extensively. I do agree some of the commentary has been very rude towards the idea. I do not oppose Turd being compensated nor do I oppose his mild indulgence in some self-glorification for his part in building this community.

"Rule 2: Cut the price in half. Now lower it.
Thanks to the success of Apple's iTunes, we now have a standard price for a downloaded track: 99 cents. But is it the right one?"

Sorry, but I'll assume your a stoner babe, just becuz'
You are not a bummer and probably don't have it in you to be a bummer. Your name/monikor wasn't in mind at all when I wrote that.
That will be the only denial or acknowledgement by me on this going forward. The other(s) can stew.
Burn, baby, burn.
Good luck
Turd, all the best with your new site. Let's see if you can really keep this (TFMR) site going as well as it has so far. Time will tell.
I, for one, would rather read your thoughts than listen to them. It's quicker.
Update
Last one was missing something...I found it, and included it ;-)
Is this worth a Hat Turd?
I never realized...
...until now that our beloved Turd was related to Mr. Hanky.
damn...forgot the "S"
little boo boo
How Can It Be...
That Turd's new site will NOT be better than this one. If it wasn't then why would you pay the price? Silly question. Will we hear anymore from the Golden Jackass or will we hear it a month later? I'm thinking the heart will be where the money is.....as it should be in this case. Sorry it came to this but it's understandable.
yup
kissing cousins ;-)
On Supreme Court Arizona decision
Chief Justice Roberts voted with the liberals on 3 of the 4 issues brought forward which I though was unusual. Here's what I think - I think this was an effort by Roberts to toss the Obama Administration a bone prior to the big slap down on Obamacare. Hope I'm right on this. As I understand it, the Arizona police officials cannot release an offender that they suspect of being illegal until that determination is made, yet Big Sis says she won't help Arizona police in any way - therefore, is it safe to assume that these people will be detained indefinitely pending determination of their legal status? Sheriff Joe might need to build some bigger pens and pitch bigger tents; and I hear it can get hot out there in Arizona this time of year. Who will blink first?
I don't know why so many are
I don't know why so many are complaining about the price of the new site, to me it's very reasonable. If someone does not want to belong, so be it, why complain?
Turd has given all of us a free site for over a year, and I find his information very useful. We are living in very interesting times in the financial markets, and I want the best information available, and with guests like Willie, we are getting some of the best.
I want to see Turd and his new site do well, I wish everyone felt the same way.
READ!!'FBAR' Form -- TD F 90-22.1 Form - Moneymaker for FedEx !!
This is that form for holders of foreign financial accounts - Foreign Bank Account Reporting.
Read somewhere that the deadline for the form TO BE RECEIVED by the Treasury Dept. was June 30. NOT the postmark or date mailed -- RECEIVED. Stuck in my mind 'cause it seemed kinda really tricksy... especially with a potential $10,000 penalty for lateness... and the guy was really ranting about it... (Jim Willie?)
Go here, to the horse's mouth:
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f90221.pdf
(I emphasized it, not the gov!)
Form TD F 90-22.1 (Rev. 1-2012)
General Instructions
Form TD F 90-22.1, Report of Foreign Bank and Financial Accounts (the “FBAR”), is used to report a financial interest in or signature authority over a foreign financial account. The FBAR must be received by the Department of the Treasury on or before June 30th of the year immediately following the calendar year being reported. The June 30th filing date may not be extended.
Who Must File an FBAR. A United States person that has a financial interest in or signature authority over foreign financial accounts must file an FBAR if the aggregate value of the foreign financial accounts exceeds $10,000 at any time during the calendar year. See General Definitions, to determine who is a United States person.

@murphy: I have to wonder if gold becomes a tier 1 asset on 1 Jan 2013 if that would change your CPA's opinion?

Make a huge splash, Swirl and twirl, come up smellin like a rose, holdin a royal flush! :0)
@Ned Braden...
My understanding is that the PENALTIES for non-compliance are serious. As in up to $100,000 fines, etc.
That's nothing... try ONE HALF of the MAXIMUM VALUE of the account at any time during the given year.
THAT is the penalty one should be very wary of... and one which makes being obscure about what IS and what IS NOT a foreign financial account HEINOUS.
Metals Widget?
Can anyone recommend a good PM widget for the mac? With the kitco charts missing from the front page of TFMR I don't want to have to click over to Kitco for up to date prices. I used to rather enjoy jumping back over to the main page between reading to see the price action. Why did this go away? Anyway, congrats on the new site Turd! I hope it raises some substantial capital for you.
But back to my first question...any mac users have a PM widget they can recommend?
Pawn Stars video SILVER Mount Rush Plaque !
Another PAWN STARS episode on SILVER!
Fast forward video to 4:25 - SILVER PLAQUE OF MOUNT RUSHMORE
0.999 PURE SILVER commemorative plaque by the son Lincoln Borglum (30.8 ounces)
Rick: There is close to $1,000 worth of silver here.
Old Man: Yeah and I can melt it.
Customer: No, no, no, don't melt it!
Old Man: You'll never lose fine precious metals. That's why we call this place "The Gold and Silver", not "The Copper and lead" (pawn shop).
Rick: People will pay good money for a collectable like this. And even if it doesn't sell, the value of the silver is worth more than I paid anyway. So I feel pretty good."
Fast forward video to 21:15
Rick: Sorting scrap (silver)?
Old Man: yup
Rick: One of the things my dad likes to do around here is sort the gold and silver. He wants to figure out what gets strapped. What gets sold in the showcase. And this should definitely not be here (Mount Rushmore silver plaque).
Old Man: Why not?
Rick: Because I can sell it for more than the scrap. Why do you want to scrap all the silver? It's just weird to scrap it to begin with, alright?
Old Man: The way I see it we can profit automatically. The only thing my idiot son does automatically is lose hair. It's silver son.
Rick: You can't scrap George Washington.
Old Man: Why not?
Rick: Because you can't. It's wrong.
"Rick and the Old Man are presented with a commemorative plaque of Mount Rushmore. Made of pure silver, will they silver tongues to get a good deal or will the seller’s price be set in stone? "

The new website
I would love to belong to the new site, because this is the first one I go to every day.
Unfortunately, I am a new widow, living in what was once politely called "reduced circumstances". That means that my now reduced social security check doesn't even cover my rent here in the "seniors' home", and I have to dip into savings every month to cover medicare premiums, meds, and other sundry expenses.
I might be able to squeeze out 5$ a month, but even that is hard for me to justify. However, I do so appreciate the free part of the site, and whenever I have a "good" month, with low medical bills, I will do my best to put a pittance in the pot.
@wonderer
Honestly, it's probably best to just tuck any surplus into some small silver coinage. It seems that would go farther.
Everyone happy about the new site?
I'm not so happy, seems like the turd has gone commercial.
I loved this site and visit it everyday for some of your TA and the comments by other users. I visited it because it was free for the people, to help people see past the media rubbish. Now it feels like your going to make money out of helping people open their eyes. I for one wont be signing up for it, sorry.
Interesting move in GSR. As
Interesting move in GSR. As usual, as silver higer, GSR lower. May be a crash top instead of head shoulder reversal-or we have a new head. Silver prices tell its first option, but as they are not trending anywhere, neither we should assume GSR trend as broken yet. It is still within a sloped channel starting from March 2012:
Congressional Testimony
I'd like to see this - better yet, I'd like to say it
Thought I was done stacking
But these prices (not todays, just of late) just brought me out of stacking retirement! At some point we'll be seeing the 20's for the last time (days/weeks/months who knows, who cares).
Also I feel compelled to warn, if I recall correctly, near all stacking purchases have preceded a price decline (and were all temporary of course as this current one is/will be). Remember, if you're that way inclined - less teeth gnashing, more coin rubbing!
Now back to bleeding some more fiat playing with leverage...
Mm mmm
And how's that for timing - the new additions were just this second delivered to my desk. Sweet.
