JukeBox ON: Unbroken Chain

Unbroken Chain by the Grateful Dead off of their 1974 album, The Grateful Dead from the Mars Hotel.

This footage was taken by a guy named Wallace Kelly. It's of his family's 1937 trip to Yellowstone. Enjoy!

@Jack

I meant to reply yesterday and then got caught up in stuff and didn't come back.  From the RaRa perspective our GSR is 1/3 Au:Ag - it was the other way round initially but we swapped over a while back as Ag is bonkers insane undervalued compared to Au.  We have a little fiat on miners as a speculative play only.  We also have some junk silver for barter purposes.

As far as other prep goes we are also trying to do everything that you listed & have also stacked fiat & have tried to move into career/trades that will be barterable so myself as a nurse, who is fast becoming a jack of all trades and master of none, having done surgical and HDU, acute and community triage, community nursing and is now moving into Health Visiting & hubby who is a graphic designer, who is now moving into teaching (art, graphics, music and creative writing being his thing although his degree is in humanities and his teaching qualification is life long learning).  We figure the more we have to offer our community then the better placed we will be to survive and thrive within it.  We would love to have 2 1/2 acres of land to cultivate but I'm guessing that is a full time job and we have our own small veg patch. As you say the off the grid thing is the hardest although we have a solar generator, solar oven, coal and wood to burn and a solar shower but if things get really difficult then this will seem pretty flimsy (particularly considering the British weather!).  Ground source heating would be our choice at the next house we finally buy.

Just wondering if your preparations are considered unusual for your area or is it commonplace?

let me answer on Rara's behalf - anyone who has done any preparation at all for the end of the Keynesian Experiment is considered a bona fide nutter in the UK.  If one had all the ducks lined up (Rara's list plus a load more) you would progress from nutter to social pariah/'family with the mark of the plague on their door'.  Just so you know....!  Listening to the powers that be, ignoring reality  and offering a 'stiff upper lip' are specialist subjects to us in times of strife.

Thanks Tabbs for chiming in :)

Just having a stack of Pb in the UK makes you a nutter!  Even people who know us very well consider us as requiring a visit from the men in white coats ;)  Not sure what other things Tabbs means by plus a load more - I guess that would be a stock of food, water, medical equipment, bug out bags, candles etc (which we also have).  What else am I missing from my social pariah list Tabbs just so I know what else I need to stock/stack if not done so already?

Funny responses! I was thinking maybe it was different in the UK but it sounds the same as Wisconsin. I have some friends who I'm sure are calling each other and trying to figure out how to do an "intervention" before I'm too far gone.  And, that's only because I talk about money printing and debts...they don't even know I have candles!!

SpeakEasy TV: Need To Breed

No...I'm not talking about me! cheeky

Witness awe-inspiring stories of species'need to reproduce such as stunning footage of flying foxes soaring across the skies with their young wrapped in their wings and the remarkable breeding behaviours of elephant seals in the Falkland Islands. For the first time in nearly 30 years, see the white-eared kob performing a deadly mating ritual in Sudan.

IMAX: Volcanoes of the Deep Sea / HD

Volcanoes of the Deep Sea is the most thrilling and spectacular film Imax ever made. The scenery is awe-inspiring, never before seen by anyone as it is in the film, since even the researchers have never before been able to flood areas the size of a football field with intense illumination, as director Stephen Low's crew did for the film. The deep sea creatures themselves are as marvelously bizarre in their appearance as they are in their biology.

SpeakEasy TV: The Pooch /Classic Rascal episode

(((((((Echo!!!)))))))     Quiet day in here from the looks of it.

The weathers been pretty nice and keeping people outside and I think lots of us see the writing on the wall where many things at once are on a collision course or about to plummet or spike.  A cycle of extreme's is underway all at once imho. I'm a spectator right now and watching the sequence of events unfold/collapse.

If anyone needs a smile then this episode is for you and it'll provide a smile or two. Classic!

What shocks me

is that so many people are totally clueless about what is going on. A guy I work with was delighting in the fact that gas is slowly creeping downwards. I said "Well, in a few days Syria may blow up and then gas will be going back up". He had no idea what is going on over there and had heard nothing about the Turkish plane being shot down. No where else but on TFMR have I really read anything about the banking problems with Natwest/RBS. Could just be a incompetence issue, I've seen things cascade like that when I worked in the Control Center for my company, but we'll probably never know for sure.

I've got 2 weeks of vacation coming up myself starting next week, my Goddaughter's wedding and a trip to stick my toes in the ocean. I hope TPTB can keep their heads out of their butts long enough for me to enjoy. Until then I take...

'Toga

I really think were safe over here and it stays over there if anything does come of it.

Enjoy that time off and feel the Earth beneath your feet and appreciate the moment. Sometimes I think the bliss of ignorance would be nice to enjoy at times. Just not very often.

Part of the curse of being aware to the extent most of us  are is that there is no shortage of messed up worrisome things going on to be concerned about that we see coming. That's why the little everyday things that we might take for granted are better off being recognized and appreciated as we experience them everyday.

The ability to walk into a major grocery store every day and possibly buy anything you want and be able to afford it and for it to be available and fresh is something maybe half the planet (or more) will never be able to do.

Appreciation for what I have and for as long as I've had it and hopefully continue to do so.

Totally agree

with those thoughts and the piece you posted on Main Street. We've been prepping for a few years now, but are in no way the types who seems to relish the idea of putting those preps to use. I enjoy my air conditioning and central heating. I have no desire to spend next winter in my family room, huddled next to the fire place for warmth, eating MRE's or melting snow and running it through a filter for drinking water.

I can't wait to see my Goddaughter marry the man of her dreams. I have met him and know they will have a long happy life together as have her parents (my best friend from college) have had. Feeling the sand between my toes and the cold Atlantic waters on the New Hampshire coast are the one thing that recharge my soul every year. There's nothing like a morning walk on the beach with the love of my life next to me as the sun comes up over the ocean horizon.
