Turd Talks Metals

Today is a great day in Turdville!

As you know, the question has been: How do we expand this site and expand our reach while keeping TFMR the friendly (and free) community that it has become. I considered several options. Ad revenue alone wasn't going to do it and I didn't want to cordon off a sections of TFMR as subscription-only. The best solution I found was to develop a "sister" site. Today it goes "live" and the address is:

http://www.turdtalksmetals.com/

I recognize that a subscription-based site is not for everyone and I don't expect everyone to join (though that would certainly be nice wink). I do think, though, that the two sites will complement each other. TurdTalksMetals will allow members some new "premium" features such as occasional conference calls with me and others in the metals "industry". It will also feature webinars and chats so that members can have direct access to some of the biggest names in metals and the daily "comments string" will be largely non-moderated and threaded so that members can efficiently discuss the events of the day. The additional revenue that TTM provides will help to compensate me for what has become a full-time job. It will also allow TFMR to grow, remain free-of-charge and provide funding for events such as the hoped-for "Turdapalooza".

Please consider joining TTM. We've priced it as affordably as possible and my plan is to make it the most informative and interactive precious metal-related site on the internet.

Thanks again for making all of this possible.

Congratulations...

The preview isn't much of a preview.

Alex Jones offered a free 2 week  trail. My credit card was charged after the 2 weeks were up; I am a regular subscriber to his site.

Perhaps a free trail of a week or two would give more people the chance to appreciate the membership benefits enough to want to monetarily support the site.

Just sayin'. In these times, I am extremely reluctant to buy anything that isn't going to serve my interests to the fullest. I don't fuck with the market paper game, I only do physical BUT I do like being informed of the cartels shenanigans and how in plays outs in the global political theater. I can just as easily do that here, on ZH or thru the various youtubers we have all gotten to know and love so well.

Sorry, I'm gonna need more than a baby toke off the TFM bong if you want me to monetarily commit to the new site.

FBAR and FATCA

My understanding is that the PENALTIES for non-compliance are serious. As in up to $100,000 fines, etc.

And with the IRS, as we all know one is GUILTY until proven INNOCENT.... :-(

ReachWest writes... "Does Turd deserve to be compensated for his time & efforts?  You bet he does".

Why would I pay money to someone who says that gold will be $10,000/oz sooner, rather than later but yet the more time goes by can't tell me when sooner is?  Why would I pay money to someone who goes on a profanity laced tirade because he was wrong on predictions and doesn't like the feedback he is hearing about it?   I can go on but it doesn't matter.  Too many like-minded, Turd sycophants will be along shortly to let me know that my opinion doesn't matter.  Tell people what they want to hear and it's that much easier to separate fools from their money.  I look at this site for its diversity of input as much as Turd's analysis.

No offense GJ but...

...I can't believe that people actually pay for their "conspiracy theory info". Rense.com and Above Top Secret are free.

Whatever floats your boat:)

Eric O makes a great point.

Eric O makes a great point. It's a wonderful time to get away from the computer screens. Gives you new perspective as well. We spend so much time prepping and stacking that we sometimes forget to appreciate the moment. The reasons we are prepping and stacking shouldn't be neglected in our process of doing so.

@Reach West

Does Turd deserve to be compensated for his time and efforts? You bet he does.

He already gets donations for the blog. But he is increasing the program all the time, while the core information is getting less valuable.

He presents Andrew Maguire as reliable source. But before i can trust this source, i would like to know, if the car accident even did happen and who A.M. really is. I'm a private futures dealer, too.

And what about presenting Eric Sprott as objective source? For you Sprott is not talking his books?

And what is happening in the last weeks? Why isn't Turd discussing, that Silver is superior to Gold as inflation hedge, but not in a deflationary environment?

And what about the talk about huge demand in phys. silver? Ever took a look at SIFO in the last weeks?

And finally i was not talking about a compensation of his costs. I'm talking about making a business and suggesting the site were about objective information about the financial things to come. If you don't see the difference between objective information and sellside business, then i'm afraid, you will pay a high price in the future...

Good business advice

I thought like2stak made some excellent points on the previous page about starting up a business.  Really excellent.

Going to all the expense and trouble of starting up a second site seems a bit of overkill to me.

I am presently writing a postgraduate thesis on risk perception and why and what drives people to change position on issues relating to resources.

In order to gain a solid support base one must first analyse how humans behave

A free two week trial would be a good start.

I think having two sites will be very difficult.  I think expanding this site, and making it fully subscription paid (at a very nominal rate) would have earned Turd far more income without much start up costs.  The average person would happily pay $5 a month.  Times that by 3000 members....you are looking at $180,000 a year in return for very low transaction costs (I include TIME as a transaction cost).

I think one or the other of these sites will soon fade from existence...because we are all TIME POOR, even if we are not FISCALLY POOR....we won't have the time to visit/write at both.

Thanks for reading.

Lemmings with an attitude

No  problem gbend.

Like so many pm afficionados in the blogosphere i know Jackshit. If you're too lazy to look up everything for yourself, to really study the market, to keep a log of what the prediction of such an such was on a particular date, you tend to follow crowds and shepherds because you long for a strong point of view that'll get you kudos at the christmas dinner party. That's when opinions become creeds.  We like it, we're in a camp, we have a common enemy, we comfort each other in dire times and above all, we like to read mirrortexts that strengthen our opinions.

Best thing you can do is confront shepherds.  Best thing you can do is to read dissonant voices (like silverwealth: just sprang to mind, quite eloquent fellow) from time to time.  Best thing you can do is to prepare partially for that which CANNOT happen, buying/selling in increments and looking away when some siren seduces you to "backup the truck!".  Best thing you can do is being a lemming with an attitude.

@endzeit

I do understand what you are saying and I'm glad you came back to say it again.

It's always nice to hear a wrong opinion. Twice.

ReachWest's picture

@Really-

Ok - fair enough - but, I thoroughly disagree with your premise.

I find it difficult to fathom that you believe someone that takes the time develop an online community, such as this, and spends time on a daily basis to put out thoughtful analysis should not be compensated. If everybody wants stuff for free - then ultimately it will all be worth nothing. If you don't want to pay - don't. No one is forcing you to sign-up.

I'm not sure that I ever recall Turd talking about $10k/oz Gold - but maybe I missed it. Either way - I don't much care if Gold goes to $10k/oz or $100/oz. In either scenario - It'll be more valuable than the paper. History guides us on that point.

Sycophant - out. wink

Lumpy's picture

Just a suggestion.

Turd,

Maybe you could offer a 1-day Membership for $3 - $5.00

On days where there are big moves up or down some might be willing to pay a few bucks for your input for 1 day only on the premium site.

Maybe there is a Black Swan event of some kind which may prompt people to become a 1 day member to read what other Turdites are thinking on the premium site.

The purpose of the premium site is to make money for the Main site.  Why not keep it open to pick up some $$ here and there on BIG NEWS days.

Maybe a pay per podcast may bring in some money.   Some guests are more popular than others, but not worth spending the 1-month or full-year membership to listen in.

Just throwing it out there.

Number 47's picture

Now.

Can we get back to the usual format? You know, discussion of the epic changes going on around us. If you don't like the other site, fine. Don't go there. I won't be, (although I will be paying on this one) because I'm just not that interested in what is going on there. I like this site, (it seems to be much more user friendly and professionally created) and I like the people here.

Whatever happens, it is up to us, the users to keep this site going. If I remember correctly we are all here preparing for the end of the great keynesian experiment. This really appears to be the case more day by day. Let's not get wrapped up in a new bit of cyber space real estate. Turdified or not.

Tabberto's picture

Really- & Endzeit...

you both need to chill out with Ganja Jane and get a hit on her bong.  Better not take ourselves too seriously...

FWIW I must just point out that SIFO is a pretty flat measure that doesn't tell you what you need to know.  I have referenced this a few times before, it is the basis and co-basis that best show what's really going on in the physical Bullion Bank Silver market.  The issue about demand for physical relates to the deliverability of spot Silver purchases in very large size (ie 5m oz and above).  You can 'buy' as much Silver as you like using the vast scope of the Spot (currency) market, but how fast is the Silver realisable and how long in the future before demand overwhelms aneamic supply of real metal?  Making more people aware of the minimal coverage of real metal to paper within the existing system will help to accelerate the process of unraveling and discussions here and on the new site will/do undoubtedly help in this.

As for who is Andrew Maguire - well, he is someone who understands the mechanics of the Silver spot and futures market far better than the rest of us on here, so much so that an ongoing sham regulatory hearing and a bunch of high-powered US lawyers rely on his testimony to understand the methodology employed by the cartel in managing and manipulating the price on an ongoing basis.  Now, quit hassling the Turd and where's that bong....

cpnscarlet's picture

Isn't it just nice?

Isn't just nice to have a day where silver simply gives the middle finger to the other markets?

Bank update.

Banks still not working here, now into a second week. My account still missing money. Online not updating. Getting a bit pissed off at it but waiting to see if the competitors will start offering anything to change. (I will be changing anyway after this)

It now looks like it was a software issue. Turns out they are hiring Indians on 9k a year to run systems that require someone who has been around for a while. I didn't see any benefits from this offshoring, all bonuses to executives I guess. Same story, different company.

Loads of people moving accounts. Loads of pissed off people. I am going in tomorrow to try and get some semblance of order restored to my account. My wifes is also in disarray, she checked online from Poland to find she is overdrawn by 1300+ euro. It should be in credit by 1500+. She won't be back till next week. Should be a good few charges on top by then.

It was reported today that National Irish Bank suffered a similar problem. (Totally unrelated) but had its systems back up and running by the afternoon.

http://www.independent.ie/business/irish/nib-confirms-technical-problems...

Still thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands without last weeks wages and monthly wages paid this week are not being received. This is having a knock on effect to all the other banks and companies as payments are rejected due to lack of funds.

RBS and Natwest customers can now get 100 pounds for free in the UK, (must be paid back but no charges) but Ulsterbank customers like myself, nothing. not that I need it but we are recognised as being the worst affected.

All in all, still a shitty situation.

Endzeit's picture

@Tabberto

SIFO flat?! You seem to have no clue what SIFO and GOFO mean. I suggest you use the internet to find out.

I think lots of people here act more and more like religious believers and not like rationale investors. In case someone wants to see the difference between the sellside propaganda this blog has turned into the last weeks and objective information, i suggest you read Trader Dan's recent "Deciphering Silver" article.

So, in other words, this administration is telling...

...Arizona and the Supreme Court to "Suck It".

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Homeland Security suspends immigration agreements with Arizona police

The Obama administration said Monday it is suspending existing agreements with Arizona police over enforcement of federal immigration laws, and said it has issued a directive telling federal authorities to decline many of the calls reporting illegal immigrants that the Homeland Security Department may get from Arizona police.

Administration officials, speaking on condition they not be named, told reporters they expect to see an increase in the number of calls they get from Arizona police — but that won’t change President Obama’s decision to limit whom the government actually tries to detain and deport.

Does Turd need Money?

I Hear some negative vibes from some who think Turd does not deserve to be compensated in some way.  For those people I want you to just stop!  I deserve that money, send it to me!

Here's the Post story on Mcguire's accident:

http://www.nypost.com/p/news/business/jpmorgan_chase_story_in_uk_DsMN4PnXFoQG5KdevIsQ7N

There's plenty of primary source info on the web about Andrew Mcguire.

I used to talk shop with Andy in Rick's Picks chat forum back in 2008.  He freely gave all the traders info on his methods and how he likes to approach trading the markets.

He also offered out of the blue to help me with a potential legal situation I had brewing at the time.  Seemed like a great guy.

Just catching up...

....and a bit surprised (not really) to read some party pooping tools who insist on shoveling  dirt. I won't break out the BS shovel picture but it's easy to see who keeps on shoveling it.

Some things never change and they never will. Why bother to come on here if your consistently and truly disappointed in the many ways you profess to be? Sounds like a no-brainer to me.

What some of these critical  folks don't realize is that they are commenting on some industry folks who might actually be present as Turdites and possibly even interacting with them as they engage in this BS shoveling. It's beyond stupid to watch without making some of you aware of what it looks like.  Quit the sniveling and let TFMR and TTM have their day of happiness and celebration unless that's the issue in of itself. Are you jealous or just lacking social graces? Ask yourself. Who comes on another persons site on a happy day for the guy and pisses and moans and makes it about themselves and what they need?  Selfish or what?

It's OK to leave if your truly disappointed. Seriously, unless you really like moaning in public, what do you hope to accomplish except have your Turdite name recognized as a anti-TF moaner.

Oftentimes, less is more.  One or two less will make the 'more' happier going forward.

LOL

Yeah, I've been called a 'conspiracy theorist' for being a silverbug, too.

Rense, Above Top Secret, Drudge and Before It's News are time consuming to navigate let alone weeding out the 90% or so that is utter bullshit. I'll pay for the convenience of not having to sift thru it.

Plus, $40/year covers a wide variety of subjects/issues including PM metals.

No offense.

stephanie's picture

@ClinkinKY Rense isn't completely free

You wrote: "...I can't believe that people actually pay for their "conspiracy theory info". Rense.com and Above Top Secret are free."

Rense only gives you limited access for free. If you want access to his archives and other features, you need to buy a monthly subscription. It's kind of like Coast to Coast AM, which is free to listen to live on your local radio station, but you need to pay to get their archives.

I recently gave the PrisonPlanet.tv subscription a go. Alex tells you right up front that you can see everything for free on YouTube. But with the subscription, you can watch it all on your Roku, and since I don't have cable, I don't mind floating a few bucks around here and there to alternative news sources. They've got some interesting stuff on the Prison Planet nightly news.

Offering quality content takes time and money and resources (staff). Fighting the mainstream media takes money and resources. Why anyone would begrudge any alternative media company any attempt to develop a revenue stream is beyond me. It's not like any of these players are charging $100/month and up. How else do you expect MSDNC and Faux News (pick your pet peeve) to go out of business?
