Absolutely ridiculous and comical nonsense. NO ONE should be attempting to trade gold and/or silver futures on the Comex. The WOPRs and The Cartel are completely in charge and every mutterance and headline sends a cascade of HFT orders based solely upon phraseology and syntax. THIS IS MADNESS! In the end, the fiat price of true money is left to shift in the wind, regardless of the underlying fundamentals. Therefore, THE ONLY ONES WITH A CHANCE are the regulars in Andy's Army. EVERYONE ELSE must avoid day trading at all costs. THE ONLY OPTION is to buy physical metal on paper metal dips and TAKE DELIVERY.
Have a nice weekend. TF

Deflationary
I do recall David Morgan predicting a sustained deflationary situation throughout the first quarter, and possibly the first half of 2012, and he did so sometime in the 4th quarter of 2011. In a recent update, he predicts silver will again drop below $30.
I've also just had a look at a few charts, and it looks like a lot of things are headed downwards in the near term including the euro. Come the next FOMC meeting in a little over a week, what do you think is going to happen if easing is again denied?
TANK....and that for the entire market, not just the metals.
Indigo7 - A coin or two
The coin on the left is a Barbados $10. Neptune coin that weights in at 1.127 ounces of .925 silver. The reason I picked it up, is simply that the Neptune god with the trident and the dolphin appealed to my sense of aesthetics. If you are going to buy numismatic value coins, and you don't know jack about it (that would be me) then my only advice, would be to just stick to the coins you like. A little DD never hurts either. Or better yet, just don't listen to me.
The Neptune coin is pretty easy to pick up on eBay for around $40-$45. You can get a proof coin for near that if you are patient.
The coin to the right of Neptune is a 2-1/2 oz. Silver Eagle Sales 'round' out of Walla Walla, WA. I guess the reason I liked this one was because it had a nice 'heft' to it, and felt right in my hand. The obverse is a nice eagle. Speaking of heft...though not a coin, it certainly makes a nice backdrop, is the JM bar. Unfortunately these were all lost when they slid overboard in a stormy sea crossing.
This one below I currently have listed on eBay and it looks like I will do pretty good on it. It's kind of sad to see it go because it is so nice, but hey, by selling it I can get my original investment back and buy at least another ounce or so of the shiny. I'm really not a collector at all, and mostly stack when I can, but occasionally, If I
see something that I really like, I will pick it up if I can afford to. BTW: My two favorite coins to stack are ASE's & Maple Leafs. I really like the nice ring that silver makes when it is jingled together. Ok, Jimmy, I mean Indigo7, there ya are.
Some Krugerrands underweight
More proof that government denominated coinage isn't any more trustworthy than the generic/private mints.

Reminds me, though, that I have one Brinks silver round marked as 1 Troy Ounce that only weighs out to 29 grams.

sure starting the week on a downer. Any news?
Monedas
That's not how a mafia family works. When all are criminals on the inside there will be no justice, no prosecution. This is simply because inside of power most know where the bodies are buried. Think Corzine will ever be prosecuted? Think again. He knows too much. Has too much dirt on other operators, if he were ever to sing it could bring down dozens of pathetic criminals.
Wayne Madsen investigated Obottom's past in Chicago. Check it out. When leaders are chosen on the basis of how much they may have to hide then there is never accountability for anyone beneath them. What's her name, the goblin that was chosen for the Supreme Court a year or so ago? Never prosecuted a case or worked as a judge. Zero qualifications. But she is a lesbian with a secret life. Makes her easily blackmailable when push comes to shove. Its how power works, how losers float to the top of the criminal pyramid.
@Silver Meddler
I have one silver coin that is almost a % too heavy, but they say under a percent you shouldnt worry too much if the rest seems OK (31.4 vs 31.1g)

EG's Buy/Sell Analysis
I've been around here studying the Turd methods and concepts of buying and selling PM, and accordingly, I have conducted my own analysis into the matter. After many weeks of detailed analysis, I have reached the following tried and true methods that determine when to buy and when to sell PM's. I offer this simple method here free of charge to one and all.
When to buy - when you have money
When to sell - when you need money
How much easier can it get? Unfortunately, I do not offer a weekly newsletter or anything, so you will have to come back here to the Turd comment section from time to time for additional insight into my tried and true, can't miss opportunities.
gold/silver price alerts?
seems that netdania price alerts are no longer working
does anyone know of a good program that has price alerts ie. triggers a sound at a set price?
thanks

Morning Toons
U-Turn
Lynching
And finally...
Divide and conquer indeed
Interesting, skimmed comments from over the weekend and the impression it left is revealing. Noticed the divisive nature of all the constructs being chewed - in most part we appear to be good, honourable people here and yet can be so far apart from each other.
Nations are a great way to trick you into distancing yourself from other souls on this planet. So are these other abstract concepts: democrat/republican, labour/conservative, religious/not etc (even physical features/characteristics of the human form and sports for fecks sake!?!) - reduces most of us to just bickering as if these are the only choices, or any are more 'right' than another.
Just peel it all back to this thought process: Are you expecting/demanding something from another soul you didn't mutually agree upon? Is it your right to do so? If you arrive at 'no' to the latter then muse: Are you happy allowing violations of the former principle to continue?
As for WWII - if what I've read on t'net is reliable then created by the Rothschilds (research the 'great' Churchill's finances etc), ran by the Rothschilds (info and guns etc to all sides). We all think we're fighting for something noble but mostly just fighting each other for the profit of another. And don't need to tell any around here who created the Fed that is destroying the nation of our US brothers among us.
@IS, nice steer away ;^) My stack is ashamedly dull compared with a lot of you fine people!

Play With Fire And You Get
BurnedBeheaded… Al-Qaeda Beheads American Al-Qaeda LeaderPosted by Andrea Ryan on Sunday, April 15, 2012, 11:41 AM
By: Andrea Ryan
If you play with fire you get burned…unless the fire you’re playing with is violent Islamist radicals. Then you get beheaded. Abu Mansour al-Amriki, born in Alabama Omar Hammami and raised a Christian, was beheaded on April 5th by the group al-Shabaab, an ally of al-Qaeda.
Pat Dollard reports,
Excerpted from SomaliLandSun: The al-Qaeda-allied group al-Shabaab executed US-born jihadist Omar Hammami on April 5th, according to unconfirmed Somali media reports.
Hammami, known as Abu Mansour al-Amriki, said he feared for his life from other al-Shabaab leaders because of strategic and ideological differences in a statement released last month.
According to Somalia’s Gedo Online, Hammami was the only one absent from a recent meeting attended by top al-Shabaab leaders in Baraawe.

Good Morning (North America that is) - Good Whatever
Suits the rest of you.
I hope we can take BoP's words to heart - fighting here about whose country is the shortest Pygmy, or attempting to resolve the age old conundrum, does god (oops God) exist - is a brutal distraction from the case at hand. I would be surprised at how many hat tips go to comments that slag TF or defy the moderators, except that human nature is so often bent on criticism not compliment (note to self: ask hubby why this is so).
El Gordo - excellent advice - except the sell part. When you need money, go hungry, barter away the kids, but don't touch that stack!
And while we all watch Europe, I am reminded of my eldest children's treatment of our youngest whenever he was getting upset:
"Look, a distraction!"
And it almost always worked.
And how much must Geitner know? He is so far above his head talent wise that there simply has to be another, unsavoury, explanation for his continuing to romp around in the corridors of power. And Eric Holder. But just to make sure you understand where I am coming from, Canada has to offer wonderful, principled, politicians, who never ever lie, or disappoint.
And what's with everyone needing to own a home?
I think that is one of the most pernicious ideas to sink into our collective heads - add that to everyone and their cousin Sally getting a masters degree - and the debt slavery meme seems too clear. And as always the question is cui bono? And unfortunately it is pretty obvious that the answer is the banks, the banks, the real estate development business, the banks, and the politicians that get bribed to change the zoning for the new developments. The people get promised help to achieve the dream they never should have had from politicians who can't actually help them ... and the banks get richer.
And I read recently that something approaching 25% of all American adults (not picking on you, Canada is similar but not quite as bad and I don't have numbers) are on some form of anti-depressant or sleeping pill. Now how did we all get convinced that we couldn't get through the day or night without the help of a pharmaceutical company, and yet fear an indigenous weed that has been used for centuries? Again cui bono? Insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies - and this is the beauty of medicare - the incentives are entirely set up for prescription writing instead of intervention as intervention might cost the government something, whereas prescriptions just churn the insurance/pharm mill. But you get promised the 'free' health care by politicians who have been successfully bribed, oops, lobbied.
grrrrrr

Question to the ol' timers...
When gold was say $400ish (circa 2005) - what did you expect the world to look like when it hit $1600ish?
Just heard phrases like 'you won't want to see the world when $5k gold' but looking at the charts (plus I see Santa's 'on the precipice of parabolic, $1764 key' observation/prediction) and rate they're printing then another fourfold increase in a much shorter time frame is, well, logical? And the world will have only changed as much between 05 to now (which isn't great but no mad max style at least)?
I guess more importantly is - will the system hold together under such strain - actually reckon if it's on the move like that then wheels are off and who knows where we're heading.
Isn't Spain Next On The Bailout List?
'It's Not the People Who Vote that Count; It's the People Who Count the Votes'
When the Spanish online voting company SCYTL bought the largest vote processing corporation in the United States, it also acquired the means of manufacturing the outcome of the 2012 election. For SOE, the Tampa based corporation purchased by SCYTL in January, supplies the election software which records, counts, and reports the votes of Americans in 26 states–900 total jurisdictions–across the nation.
As the largest election results reporting company in the US, SOE provides reports right down to the precinct level. But before going anywhere else, those election returns are routed to individual, company servers where the people who run them “…get ‘first look’ at results and the ability to immediately and privately examine vote details throughout the USA.” In short, “this redirects results …to a centralized privately held server which is not just for Ohio, but national; not just USA-based, but global.”

Hard Rain
Just saying that the Mex 20's are awful gosh darn pretty that's all. And the Sovereigns appeal to my sense of history, with the rise and fall of the British Empire all wrapped up in them. Americans should perhaps be reading up on the fall of various historical empires at every opportunity.
Just chiming in on IS7's conversation starter, not saying one was better than the other. Wasn't really making a commentary any deeper than that.
There's no one "best" choice for everybody. Big coins feel great in the palm of your hand. Small coins might have some advantages down the road if trying to sell privately, or in little bits at a time, perhaps. Have some of each. Beyond that, just buy what you like!

Dressed in my grungy work clothes, think I surprised the proprietors when I handed over a fist full of fiat for a 1903 St. Gaudens! :)
I like the concept of 'fractionals', as they provide a bit better liquidity, though something with a bit of weight has been on my list.
Along the lines of SW's "You should by Cheese( from me 'cause I sell it) vid", I understand it's the shop's policy to sell coin... though as I was leaving the owner said quietly " I don't think it's a bad idea buying gold right now."
...What WAS a bad idea was letting my young nephew hold the St. Gaudens as we passed on a footbridge over the River... with a plunk it was ... gone. Easy come , easy go!
