New York City: Nostalgia to Modern Economic Realities

It just so happens that the Fox Hole California Lawyer climbed out of had  more surprises. Turd asked me to provide an update on some of the economic/political realities that New York City faces at this time. But if you haven't already, please go and read California Lawyers wonderful entry before you dig in here. But the first order of business.  From New York City it's:

Gold Roundup

The gold news flow was especially interesting over the last week with stories about stolen gold and the continuing trend of gold repatriation.  If you connect the dots, it should be clear that Turdville is not the only ones preparing for a currency crisis but so are the countries of the world.  Let's get right to business.  This first story is quite mind blowing for us mining investors!

Whatever Happened to Justice?

"It may be affirmed, on the best grounds, that no small share of the present embarrassments of America is to be charged on the blunders of our goverments....What indeed are all the repealing, explaining, and amending laws, which fill and disgrace our voluminous codes, but so many monuments of deficient wisdom"

James Madison  Federalist #62

"The faculty and excess of law making seem to be the diseases to which our governments are most liable."

Important Week Ahead

I interrupt my regularly scheduled article  to bring you more late breaking news.   I'll save my historical treatise for another date as everyone seems focused on the events in Syria and whether or not the Fed will continue QE.  No sense in fighting the news trend and since many of you are already talking about it, I  might as well dedicate this Sunday Evening/Monday Morning post thread to Syria and QE3.

China's New Gold Dynasty

It is purported that Napoleon once said of China "Let her sleep, for when she wakes, she will shake the world" as if aware of a destiny yet written.  Raymond Wheeler was one of the pre-eminent researchers in the area of cycles.  He amassed volumes of historical data from cycles of war, civilizations, business cycles and weather going back over 2500 years.   Based on his records, he discovered a cycle where every 510 years there is an alternating shift of power between east and west.   There seems to be no dirth of similar predictions in the annals of

Friday Wrap-Up

It's once again the end of the great American work week at least for those of you doing the 9-5 thing in a cubicle or hopefully an office where you can close your door and enjoy the unique Turdville repartee.     Some of the guest writers are on a well deserved vacation so you get me one more time providing the Friday morning quarterbacking.    It's kind of like being a kid and peaking in the class room to see who the substitute will be.   Lantern again?  Spitball throwing contest day!

To Taper Or Not To Taper...Is That the Only Question?

Tomorrow at 2pm the Fed issue's it's minutes for the July meeting and we are assured there will be some serious MOPE and economic psych-ops as the Fed will likely try to signal that Wall Street needs to break it's liquidly habit-when it tapers or I like to call taper- operation QEDerma-patch.  Ok, maybe that's a stinker.
